Yes, this is what most people don't get. The money that is being sent is not a gift. They are selling out the country and the money will make its way back to the west in one form or another. Also, the war is a huge demographic disaster and it only gets worse the longer the war continues. Even if Ukraine wins later today, they are doomed. Agreed. Also the grain economy was incorrect. Ukraine's problem there is also EU protectionism. Prior to the SMO, Ukraine had pretty tight quotas to protect existing EU farmers. Those quotas were lifted, but met with protests and blockades from Polish and other EU farmers to try and stop dumping. Those protests have been escalating and the EU has backed down on agricultural reforms (neo-Lysenkoism). Once the SMO ends, that protectionism will remain, and Ukraine will discover just what EU free trade really means. That will be worse as Ukraine will get the Greece treatment, and Western agribusiness will buy up the farmland and other assets. Ukraine certainly won't be independent. Within the EU market, it will be competing with existing EU businesses, on the global market, it'll be competing with the EU and Russia.

Everyone like me who actually study history, politics and war knew what was happening in Ukraine from the day 1 of the war. From the day 1 i was saying USA hijacking Ukraine by nazi forces then putting regime that will fight Russia should be considered as one of the biggest war crimes world had seen for a while (USA did similar things hundeds of times already but never on this scale). Everyone who is not just geek but knows how RUssia and Ukraine functions and is not just KZbinr (no offence Willy) knew Ukraine is disaster and there is no world in wich Ukraine will win this war or has any right to do so while Azov hooligans commiting attrocities all across Doneck and other parts where Russian speaking population was. And war that we had seen so far was just meat grinder that world will be shocked once numbers get revealed how hard everyone got lied to and filled its brain with completely the opposite of de facto stuff on the ground (half a milion Ukrainian men dead and at least milion still fighting or not capable of fighting anymore but all will have injuries and PTSD, while Russia suffers at least 150000 dead and wounded). USA should answer on international court or get sanctioned by every single country on this planet and only there some small fate would be restored. I guess the thing i cant understand on a tactical level is how ukraine continues to get encircled into cauldrons over and over again . Either russia is that good at it , or ukrainian leaders are completely inept .

Zelensky is a Hitler-tier strategist. His only orders are "hold at all costs." This leads to Ukrainians constantly failing to withdraw when they should. It also helps that attrition is so high that when most troops get to the front there are very few other soldiers there who really have any idea what's going on or have even been there that long themselves.

If you look at the geography of the 3 places where Ukraine made progress in their counter offensive they were all to occupy towns or villages lying on low ground which left the Ukraine forces surrounded on 3 sides by Russian defenders on higher ground. In none of those places did Ukraine manage to then flatten the front line by taking any of the higher ground next to the built up area they had 'occupied'. To this day their soldiers remain in those low lying areas. Whereas, the Russians in Bakhmut and again here in Adviika have taken the ground either side of the City they are working towards and only when the City is 3 parts surrounded does the assault begin. In the first case the Ukrainians put themselves there and in the second the Russians put them there. So I think it is both.

Look, at the end of the day this video highlights the basic simple fact the Ukraine war is and always has been essentially A CIVIL WAR NO ONE ELSE HAD ANY BUSINESS BEING INVOLVED IN! Political and military command on BOTH sides are as bad as each other - with the average people caught in the middle. If the west hadn't interfered (ie. promised support to Zelenski) then it would have probably never happened in the first place as Ukraine would have been forced to negotiate sensibly for terms without triggering the SMO. Period. Finish. End of story. Instead it's been turned into a holocaust. Do people realise that there were conditions placed on Ukraine in return for it's "independence" back in the early 90's??? - those conditions included returning ex soviet nukes - which they did - and now they're whinging about... like what, if Zelenski had those nukes is he suggesting he'd use them???? Also Ukraine was supposed to keep a very small military footprint and to absolutely not entertain notions of joining NATO. Look what direction they actually took and how that's worked out - and IS anyone seriously surprised!?!?

Quite right I think. I regularly see the Budapest memorandum and nukes raised by pro Ukraine voices but nobody mentions the Kiev memorandum - article 6 of which explicitly forbids Russia or Ukraine from joining a military alliance that would threaten the security of the other. Was it really so very impossible for Ukraine to remain neutral?
