While I have a lot of Turner Acyrl Gouache, I only have a couple of tubes of the Japanesque - the grayish green and the black blue. I tried using my grayish green a couple of times and it was really gritty. So I put those tubes away - I had gotten them when Jerry's had their crazy low prices for the Turner Acryl Gouache. Here is the funny thing - I just got them out and tried the grayish green and to my surprise there was NO grit! I wonder if that was due to binder separation of some sort which has resolved itself. I am so glad I pulled it back out because I was going to throw the tube out. I love the colors of the set and will have to get it one of these days (I am in a no-buy; again). I love, love, love the black blue, btw and use it often. I had no idea about Turner needing so much water. I thought I was doing something wrong...haha...nope, I was evidently doing it right! Other grands of acrylic gouache is the Golden So Flat. Blick has a matte acrylic paint as well - which is what gouache is. I didn't know Rosa had an acrylic gouache. I have the regular gouache. But you are right, I haven't seen anyone use any of the Japanesque other than swatching.
