Jim proves two things with this video: 1) That tone wood is not a real thing. (He'd already proved that in several other videos, though.) 2) That you really can write a Country song about *anything*!
@dallynsrАй бұрын
Tonewood is real, but it doesn’t make the guitar sound better is the point. If it weren’t real, then PRS wouldn’t have anything to talk about. It only makes resonances or colorations of the linearity of the vibrations from the strings through the coils. It’s affected by the wood, but not necessarily making it any better. That’s the point.
@MiserereMeiАй бұрын
@@dallynsr , huh? If the type of wood doesn't make the guitar sound better, then it doesn't make it sound worse, either. Meaning tonewood isn't a thing. It's just....wood. And it doesn't really matter than much for the sound (but does for looks and guitar longevity). I mean, Jim just made a tele and a car sound exactly the same 🤷♂
@dallynsrАй бұрын
@@MiserereMei Ok, to put it to more of an extreme, we all know what a hollow body does to the sound…Lucile. Nearly perfect example of how the body helps (or can hurt) the output of the sound signals natively from the electric coil pickup guitar. Tonewood means it’s affecting the signal, but PRS wants you to believe it’s better than nothing like Jim did. I’m with Jim that no tone wood is better, but still PRSs have their place in world of guitar sounds. The wood does color the sound, and with lead guitar and distortion a flat linear signal output is best with all the frequencies and tones present. Just like how a musicman stingray is great for some bass session recordings over other super high quality basses, the stingray has a very flat and true response with nothing missing. That’s good. Tonewood takes away some tones and bumps others. That’s all.
Ай бұрын
@@MiserereMei Initial sounds are of course more similar. But we did not even get to hear any decay (where damping would matter more). And even that did not sound identical, did it sound the same to you?
