Hey guys! I had weight loss surgery (VSG) on August 11, and I’m now down 20lbs from my highest weight! This has truly been a journey, and the recovery isn’t easy, but the results & healthy lifestyle change is worth it! I documented everything from consultation day up until 1 week post op. 🎉 Congratulations! After surgery, the 2nd week of your surgery you will think "Why did I do this?" however you will heal and learn how to heal and start your journey, it's a life long change. I didn't have to do the pre-op diet. I cut out sugar and caffeine, salt came after post opp. I lost 20 lbs before surgery doing this. Start when you first see the Bariatric Physician. The doctors don't tell you after your surgery not to drink cold drinks and that your Ensure High Protein shakes should be at room temp or warmed. You will have a lot of gas after surgery, be prepared with Gas X chewable, it is best to have on hand. Sip slow, you still get air when you don't use a straw, your stomach tightens, it is swollen and cranky from the acids. It disappears not completely. You will only be able to have 1/2 cup, lunch, breakfast and dinner even when they say to drink the who Ensure container, sip 1 oz at a time. I've lost 42lbs from June to one month post opp. Keep up the good work, you can do it! It's worth the work.

Congrats girl!! Post op 8 years sleeve!! I lost a 166 pounds . I am age 65 I am 5"2 tall..I was pushing close to 300 pounds prior to my sleeve 😊😊😊😊😊 God Bless you always stay with support it's important still

I’m one week post op! Pain was very minimal for me thankfully didn’t touch any pain meds out of the hospital. So far so good thankfully. I can’t wait to move up to purées this week!

Hi nancy.570, I am 66 years old, and I'm going through the stages now for my surgery. I have my orientation on the 11th of June. Did my nutrition classes already. Already spoke the physiologist. Waiting for my weight management program. It's never too late.

I was sleeved in December 2012 and have gained most of the weight back since my surgery. I am considering having a revision where they actually re-tighten the sleeve and that’s how I came across your video. My highest weight was 220 pounds when I had my surgery back in 2012 and now I’m up to 216 pounds and I believe a lot of it comes from the pandemic and me working from home since then. Yes it is life style change. RNY 2 years SW 250 CW142 life style changes with less fat and sugar in your diet. Yes the hard part with your stomach trying to break down the grease. Oct 3 Er visit related to moderate amount of stool. I feel better I pack my lunch when going out even to the grocery store so when I do decide to eat out it’s at the right place. Now I’m 58 and I’m just beginning the journey I think the ball will be rolling next week because of the holiday, I have to have 2 surgeries at the same time. I'm getting the same surgery at Northside Forsyth on Sep. 1st. The only thing I'm worried about is the pain after surgery. Mine is through Bariatric Innovations also and Tracy Smith is my nutritionist too. Hope everything works out for you. I'm getting super nervous.

Do I need to go through all that process( support group neetings, psych evals,etc) before surgery? I’m diabetic and on hypertension meds, I got sleep apnea, my BMI is higher than it should be and I’m 60 yrs old? Everything aches and I believe I’m qualified for the surgery.

For everyone the process looks A little different. The pre-op requirements are based off of 1. Your health history 2. Your Doctor’s recommendation 3. Your insurance requirements
