I hand painted my bathroom wallpaper | REISSUED

Wallpaper drama without the cost! Just months of my life 😂😭
Inspired by ‪@ChristineHMcConnell‬ with her custom wallpaper and restored wallpaper videos, I started hand painting an MC Escher inspired wallpaper design in my new guest bathroom back in September... and I just now finished! The classic black and white bird design adds contrast and dimension to the formerly basic walls - for a timeless, artistic look!

This is _stunning,_ Andrew - I absolutely love it. I think you made all the right choices as your project unfolded. The imp in me would love for just _one_ bird to be vivid turquoise or perhaps even a neon colour - like an acid orange, pink, or lime green! 😆 That concealed pull-out cabinet is _so_ well masked, btw - genius.

In my mid-20's, I threw rave parties in my house in LA. This was when I was getting my doctorate. Every time I had a party, there was a fury of painting. I did a whole two story wall of alternating Mad Hatters and March Hares in alternating diamond patterns. Great times with cheap Home Depot Paint.

WOW! Unbelievably impressive! It looks great! I'm very much of the thought that you decorate your space as you would enjoy, and not just to follow trends. Trends come and go and one can spend all their money and time following a trend just for the trend to look outdated in a few years. Personally I decorate to please myself and then it never feels outdated lol. (You might disagree if you saw my house though lol)

I think the best design is about honoring the architecture of the space, choosing some colors and finishes that are timeless, and then infusing tons of personality and life into the space based on what you love. I've been fascinated by Escher's work for decades. I've seen other people trying to implement his imaginery on all kinds of design and/or decoration projects through the years and the results are almost always underwhelming and often tacky. Hey Mary! I think in a room this small, the projection would be skewed. BUT in my guest room which is much larger and for which the design will be less exact, I’m definitely planning to do it that way! 🙌🏻

You can add a bit of vegetable glycerin to slow acrylic paint drying time and ads viscosity. I'm old but I'm still learning new tricks.

Regarding thought process, I was wondering if you had considered a block print or a bigger linoleum print instead of a stencil. maybe that would be hard to line up?
