Let me know your thoughts. BTW here is the Los Angeles Times article I was referencing www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-10-17/baby-food-pouches-healthy-nutrition-parenting

Picking olives is extremely satisfying.

I found myself strangely connect to the land and the people I was working with. It was indeed satisfying.

Thanks for speaking so frankly about your impressions and incredulities. I’m an American living in Munich (going on 26 years now) and many aspects of the American lifestyle (as it’s become now) are so tragic. I love going back to visit family and friends, and I continue to insist that the people are the best part of our homeland, but I would struggle greatly having to give up what we have here.

This video wasn't meant to be a critique of American culture. As you said, there are "aspects of American culture (as it's become now) [that] are so tragic." Packet parenting is one of these tragedies. I do appreciate the efficiency of American culture, but I do feel we have lost much in the way of communal family life.

I totally agree with what you said, I’m from New Zealand & have had a few holidays in Italy & Europe over the years & love the culture, traditions & involvement of all ages. I love how they keep their traditions alive thru the generations. I hope the young ones can appreciate these things while they can or they’ll lose them like other societies have.
@kristenandscottАй бұрын
I think for me the struggle is, that as we move forward as a society, there are good things about the way we do life; its a balance for me in not losing good things from the way we did life, core traditions and values that make us who we are, while embracing change.

Just seeing this today because I went looking! For some reason strange reason KZbin has stopped send me your notifications! Ok understanding a bit more. There are some convenience items we do use like pasta but we do also make pasta and sauce from scratch.
@kristenandscottАй бұрын
Certainly, convenience has its place, but preferably, it's not at the cost of our health. I do love homemade pasta, though. I glad you found me again! I enjoy your contributions to the community.

I've started studying Italian, should I study Sicilian instead?
@kristenandscottАй бұрын
Well, that depends on what you are trying to achieve. Most in my area speak Italian, though Sicilian is used by some, especially in the older generation.

@kristenandscott I want to learn which ever language is spoken the most in Caccamo.
@GianniPTАй бұрын
Learn standard Italian first. Once you master that, you can then learn some of the local dialect.

@GianniPT That would be my sentiment as well

My kiddos were birn in the 70's, my grands beginning in 2001....i fed them all at our family meal table, they ate what we ate appropriately and had no issues wirh food that the majority of kiddos are now having. I mashed up and cut up their food at the table .... usually from my plate! I can't imagine not cooking every day and especially cooking for my family.
@kristenandscottАй бұрын
Times have changed....This is the way I was fed too. That way my soon Kiefer was fed. I think many families still feed their children this way, but the temptation of convenience is alluring. In society where stress and being busy are king, the temptation is all the higher.

Ok what kind of food comes in pouches! I made food for my daughter and my mother made food for my sister and I. That was pretty amazing!
@kristenandscottАй бұрын
Agreed. I was appalled when I read this but not totally surprised. We have such a frenetic pace of life in America, it is totally believable the people cut corners like this.
@karenmraovich1502Ай бұрын
…and the pouches go in the landfill! Terrible for several reasons!

Absolutely. And they are certainly not biodegradable.
