I got a blacklist of stores/users on eBay that have done this kind of stuff to me, as well as other weird stuff. I most recently had someone cancel my order and the seller select the reason for cancelling as: "Buyer requested cancellation" It makes my blood boil

This happened to me on eBay last year. I pre ordered a case of 151 Pc etbs a month in advance then 2 days before it was supposed to ship they cancelled it without telling me anything then relisted it for 300 dollars more The same day, I contacted them telling them it was super Scumy to do that 2 days prior and they were like I'm so sorry the price has gone up way higher i cannot afford to sale them at that price now. FN D bags man. I guarantee this will happen with prismatic pc etbs too. I wouldn't be buying those on eBay right now. I learned my lesson. Bet there are tons that have already been cancelled that were initially sold at 600 a case. What are they now 1600 a case on ebay.

the amount of ebay having to fork over refunds for people scammed by sellers is probably going to piss them off enough to take some new measures. The ebay guarantee is going to really start to hurt Ebays bottom line. Maybe a seller cancellation fee could solve this little issue. It might make these scammers think a little bit about things before listing something.

It's a minefield right now. My local retail options look like looted grocery stores in a zombie apocalypse, so I hedged and preordered some Prismatic Evo booster bundles and ETB's at higher than MSRP, but fair price. I chose TCG seller on ebay who has been around for years, but my hunch is they'll get way less from distribution and my orders are going to get cancelled. Especially since I got in at half what the market says they cost now. Purchased the JP Umbreon SAR, and picked a seller who had "1 available" and showed real pictures, not stock images. But a couple of days after I bought, they revised the listing to multiple quantities - red flag. I messaged them saying I expected the card that was shown in the images (gem mint). Then it took them over a week to ship the card - red flag. I don't have the card yet, but it's en route. Fingers crossed. Maybe I'll have some faith restored in pokemon sellers.

This happened to me twice this week when trying to buy a slab. First seller said they already sold the card in their brick and mortar store, even though we had exchanged offers before I bought the card. Second seller said they used the wrong image on the listing and would put up a corrected listing later. Haven't heard back from them since. The one I tend to get the most is "unfortunately the card got damaged" and they cancel the order (or they just cancel it without a word and that's there excuse when I contact them). I always then ask for a picture of the card and say if the damage isn't too bad then I'm not worried as it is for the binder. I'm yet to get a picture! One kept blowing me off saying he was at work and would do it later. Another had it relisted for £30 higher (and it went from LP to NM!) so I sent them a screenshot of the new listing, they then said their mum had listed it for the wrong price. Inventory issues is you sell on tcgplayer, have 10s of thousands of cards listed, you accidentally listed you had 5 of a 25¢ card when you had 4, and you don’t catch the error until months later when someone goes to buy your last listed copy. Not I have one card I listed yesterday with a photo and oops guess I don’t have the card I had to physically have to photograph.

That's a good point about an acceptable situation. Nobody is going to have a bad day about a 25 cent card. Unless, of course, you as seller waited a week to tell the buyer. You blamed your imperfect inventory bookkeeping, which is understandable. But a week delay is pretty unacceptable imo. Imagine then, if after canceling the order, if you find that same card, or somehow get that same card back in stock hours later somehow. Don't list it at market price, and expect that the buyer has a perfect understanding. Again, probably not an issue for a 25 cent card. But if the product we're talking about would result in a $20+ difference for your buyer... yeah... that's a different story. The same story OB told.

My rule with buying anything Pokémon tcg related is NEVER get it from anything but official sources (Pokémon center) or purchasing the product in person myself. I don’t trust third party sellers to sell me sealed product, much less singles, without being able to inspect it myself first.
