I said this on Roc's vid but I'm surprised sellers were letting them go as cheap as they were during preorders and right out the gate. What I find more surprising is that a country as small as Japan is able to produce enough product to satiate not just their country's appetite for the set but also enough for pretty much the entire western world that carries Pokémon cards. It's kinda mind blowing, really.

Japan is one of those weird countries that always punches above it's weight despite it's small size. Kind of similar to Great Britain. It's really interesting how some places are tiny and thrive while others are huge and struggle. Also, yeah agreed I'm surprised everyone dumped it but I guess it's because every Japanese set in SV has dropped after release except 151. I think that's the case anyway. Open to corrections if there's another one I've forgotten.

there is far less demand on japanese product than you might think. High class sets are a different beast. I can still get every other JP set for pretty much retail price plus the import costs. The exception was the latest shiny set. High class yes, but it cratered from $100 a preorder to $35 or less per box. That set was a letdown in general.

I was in the hobby when shiny treasures and I saw so many people purchasing those boxes for $100. This set is a lot better with a lot more chase cards and it was selling for $55. I am even seeing the top chase cards rising on eBay. The price for the umbreon I think is really good but I think it will rise. I think the reason it’s a little lower than expected is because this set has been ripped like crazy.

This is my guess. After One Piece released its first anniversary set, manga luffy was going for some 5k, raw. I am guessing alot of pokemon collectors/investors were a bit mad that their grails (which are not easy to pull either) were worth a small fraction compared to the new cards one piece was releasing. I am speaking about new sets new cards not your vintage grails. So people collectively pushed for higher price introductions. 🤷‍♂️

The set is not mid, in fact the set is fantastic. The problem with the cheap pricing of the SARs is because solely on the pull rates. At least 1 guaranteed SAR in every box is bound to keep the pricing fairly affordable. But I can absolutely see the english version going for a fortune.

pokemon listened to these people and its why they nerfed the english SIR pull rates. When Merriam SIR in English dropped in price they were soooo mad. On the other hand, I can't sanely complete my sets because they nerfed pull rates so bad. Japan is doing this set right, save for masterball reverse holos. They left the pull rates at 1/20. Its so bad. lol. But I will seethe and change nothing. I'm excited to have a set where I get 1 SAR per box. Thanks Japan, you rock! The pack opening experience is so much more fun. I'm not looking forward to English. Think of it this way, SAR in Japan? 1/10. But if TPCI doesn't give us more sane pull rates, it will stay at around 1/70. Prepare for chaos if that pull rate stays the same.

The Japanese version of this set is a dream for people who just wanted the eeveelutions, but the English release is about to be one rude awakening to the community for sure. Only ETBs booster bundles and binder packs, these pull rates are about to be absolutely brutal as always. People have no clue how much they are being spoiled by the Japanese release rn. I expect the Japanese prices to skyrocket once people realize how expensive these cards are going to be in English. Like just a little perspective here, you can get a resell box for 70-80 rn and get a guaranteed SAR. In English, you pay that much for an ETB that more likely than not has absolutely nothing in it. This market is about to be set on fire.

I think this set is amazing. I stopped buying Japanese just due to having way too much bulk in english to begin with but my sons and I are definitely going to rip a few more booster boxes. pulled the umbreon and the glaceon out of 3 so far which was amazing. could care less about the value, the art is unreal through the entire set, even the regular cards are sick.
