The easier path to avoid the 9-5 is likely stay with college (current or different) and find a course you can be passionate about. That can lead to a job in the creative industry which matches your skill set. KZbin is possible but unless you make it to Mr beast level it’ll be hard to sustain a living. Theres an element of luck and definitely hard work going down that path. Jimmy definitely is a smart operator understanding how to manipulate the algorithm also. Without that level you’ll need some sort of side job. I don’t think you’re lazy or entitled. Definitely depressed which can influence behaviour and decisions.

Your live is yours to live… the next 15-20 years is the best time of your life… so make it so… it’s an illusion to give up your youth to enjoy retirement… retirement sucks live it up now!!! Do what you love and want to do… try new things… make mistakes… learn from them… and keep moving forward If you follow the crowd… you will get exactly the same results… Don’t listen to people that don’t have what you want… they are obstacles and distractions… Find people that have what you want and surround yourself with them If you want to be a successful KZbinr then make lots of friends with successful KZbinrs and see if it is what you really want Try to keep in mind that what you see in public and on social media does not represent reality… people are not happy and post fake pictures and stories they don’t even want… to please people they don’t even know… to try and feel better about themselves… so they can be happy So start with the end in mind… do what you love and you will be happier and everything else is just an obstacle to overcome

I Understand. I think you should do both. Just wiz through college it will be easy for you. Just take the courses, do your best. At the same time pursue your passion. You are young and have enough energy for both. You don't need passion for college. Just do it. You will probably find your real passion in college. You just don't know that yet. Good luck.

I'm proud of this comment section for speaking the truth. I really hope you listen. I've worked in education for a long time (primary to university) and agree that college is not for everyone. However, I don't believe you fall in that category. I hope you are wise enough to consider the possibility that you might be wrong in your assumption that you don't need A-Levels (and that GCSEs are useless). There should be services available at your College to discuss how you feel. Once the College knows, they might be able to put you on a course that is more suitable or help you out in alternative ways. But the last thing you should do is throw away the opportunity to learn and grow as a person just to gamble on KZbin success. If you can make it on KZbin tomorrow, you have what it takes to make it after College, trust me.

My favorite thing to do as a kid was build forts - lol. But I turned that into a career as a builder of spec summer cabins, doing what I love and making good money at it. My time is mine. I work when I feel like it, which is most of the time. There are many occupations where you can be your own boss. The problem with KZbin is it doesn't necessarily reward people for good content. It is a crap shoot.

My advice: 1. If you're not sure what you want to do with your life, take some time to figure it out. Don't rush into anything. 2. Don't be afraid to be different. If you're passionate about something, pursue it, even if it's not what everyone else is doing, try to manage your time more effectively, and dont sit around all day doing unproductive things or things which will waste hours of your time.

Leon, an education is important. Whether it comes from University, working, being an apprentice, either way, you will gain an education. I worked 30 hours a week while I was in college and happened to enjoy work more, but my college experience was still important. You will find that you don't like the changes YT makes to their algorithm, making it harder for you to succeed. Over 500 hours of video are uploaded to KZbin every minute, which is equivalent to 720,000 hours per day - 82 years worth of content added every day. Succeeding in social media is VERY difficult. Earning enough to keep a roof over your head, food in your stomach, paying for car/transportation, health insurance, clothes, etc. - it requires education, whether you learn it the easy way or the hard way. Bye Stud.

You don't see yourself working a 9 to 5 job? Why is that? Laziness, lack of will, or entitlement? You said you "refuse" working a regular job. Does that mean even if this channel is not as successful as you anticipate, you will continue living off your parents forever? I don't really see this as a realistic path to be honest. No hate, but you might want to think this one over again.

My brother always says that there are two kinds of people: those who work at a job for the money and can't wait to be done with the day/week/career, and those who work at a job that fulfills some part of who they are (and they can't imagine ever doing any other kind of work). My brother is the first type of person, and he works to earn lots of money. But once he is done with the work, he never gives it another thought. I'm the second kind of person: I taught for my entire career because I really enjoy working with students and being around people who are excited about learning and sharing knowledge. From what you said in this video, it sounds like you are the second kind of person, too. And that you need to find a career that satisfies that central part of yourself that would be miserable in a job you just did to earn money.

Ask yourself what made you start your channel, where you want it to go and how long you think it will take you to generate the income necessary to support you in the next 5 years and then reflect again.

First, there are good/bad courses/professors you have to ask around or do some research to find better ones. Second, one of the best things that I had during my first two years was a core group of us that were in the same classes so we studied together but we also went out together so I would strongly suggest that you consider letting at least a few people into who you are. We even went camping together during one of our breaks. Third, you can not allow yourself to always be in your mind/head without any type of release in an appropriate way which is talking and journal which is kinda your KZbin but if you tell your friends then you might feel the need to switch to more traditional methods. But the most important thing is to seek out help if you can't talk to your friends or parents. There are professionals on your campus that you can seek out for help. Just don't allow yourself to isolate from people and the world around you.

You’re basically laying out a preference for an entrepreneurial path rather than a “9 to 5” safe work path. Think of your YT channel as a business that you are developing. It may or may not work out. If it doesn’t a true entrepreneur would then instinctly be looking for the next business to start. That doesn’t mean never holding down a traditional job. It means whatever you do the focus is acquiring the needed skills to develop a business of some sort. That can be done quickly and smartly by working a job rather than taking a course. But keep this in mind, entrepreneurs don’t work 9 to 5. They normally work nearly every waking hour. Having done this myself, all I can tell you if that is how you are driven you can’t stop working or thinking about the thing you are trying to build. College? Meh. It’s not the magic door to the future. It’s more a place where people go to hide. And the “9 to 5” you referred to? it’s often just more hiding from risk and the unknown. Entrepreneurs thrive both on risk and jumping into the unknown, and they develop the ability to manage the anxiety that inevitably comes with it as time goes by.

If you're going to do KZbin as a profession, then you have to be a professional - which means getting skilled at the thing you like. There's really good advice here, but I don't think you're taking this seriously... You're following your mood, which is not the same as following your passion. There is no successful KZbin channel that doesn't have an either a team behind it or an extremely hard working, skilled professional. I"m in the UK and I'm happy to talk to you and your parents if it helps. (Retired British Powerlifting Champion, Kung Fu Instructor, Degree in Theology, Master Degree in Film, and a long and boring successful career, and an unreasonable amount of charity work. I say this as I think you need a mentor. I'm not saying that's me, but you're going off track in a way that wont help you as you don't have a plan. If you had a plan your supporters would find your attitude easier to take. Just saying 'I want to do KZbin' isn't enough. Who pays the bills, who buys your clothes, who pays for the internet' You have to accept you are dependent, for now, on other people. When you take more responsibility for yourself then maybe they'd be more supportive of your choices?) Anyway, if you read this, appreciate it. Now read the good advice offered below: follow your dreams, but make better choices as your pursue those dreams.

I see a lot of negative comments here and that's very unfortunate. You can get as much or as little advice as you want, mate, but ultimately life is about choice. You'll make choices. Some will be good. Some not so good. That's the beauty of it. If I was going to give you a piece of advice, it would be to follow your heart. Listen to your gut and your instinct. This is actually something i've been struggling with recently. There was a time when I was younger where mum was moving across the country. I was given the choice: move with her and try something new or stay where I was. Ultimately I moved with her solely on the basis that education was cheaper over this way. That was my biggest regret. It took me a long time to realise it. She's gone now and I feel a bit... stuck in an area that was a "perfect place" to her but I feel no such attachment. School didn't really work out either. Education was cheaper sure but so was everything, including worker pay. Now i'm sat here pondering where I want to go next. I know I don't want to be here the rest of my life, it's killing me. Sucking my soul out, like you mentioned. I hope you really think about it and listen to yourself. Go out into nature, away from it all, away from social media and just disconnect and listen to yourself. You'll find the way. I don't usually comment. I just like the videos and move on but that's twice now i've felt the desire too. And hey good luck alright? ^^

The world has changed in recent years. Breaking time = money is the key then but there has to be some value / expertise, so that’s where qualifications and experience count. It seems that everyone these days of a certain age think that their content will make them youtube stars and is viewed as an opportunity to make fast and easy cash. If this was the case - everyone would be doing it. The other thing I would suggest is try and keep your content positive and upbeat. Hope this helps!

Better idea is to think outside the box for jobs. You can teach how to edit youtube videos, do cameo appearances, peer to peer support for small fee or by donation, and so on. Last bit of advice keep your other channel for the light fun side of you. Breath, grab a sibling for a hug and some lego time.

The Uk 🇬🇧 is a backwards country, police state - military stratocracy mindset, fear based system - collectivism - institutions, bureaucracy, dysfunctional society. There are pockets of goodness. Seek those who share your independence and independent values. I suggest art school, theatre school, film tv radio - social media platforms productions. With your viscosity based on teen angst, you can apply for an exemption. If you identify as a kangaroo 🦘 they need to accommodate your needs. Hop hop into something more suitable. Change direction. Seek new directions and opportunity and options, be clever about this and utilize the resources. As well it’s possible that you can have a favorite animal 🦔 companion. You have considered the possibility that one of your friends or someone at your school unintentionally discovers your yourube channel, right? Have you asked yourslef, why do you feel more comfortable telling strangers your problems than your own friends? I'm not telling you what or what not to do, other than just consider these questions. Often, the questions are more important than the answers.

Hio, just ve seen this video . suppose you ve got a difficult time. so i think you should really try to get this you tube stuff going. You are definetly not the guy for 9 to 5 . this is a chance and you should take it. and of corse you have immense pontential for a 16 year old. that means you will get even better . i ve just read a very important article from Jonathan Haidt " The anxious Generation" (i think you should read a bit of that, it shows the dilemma of Gen z) still i think you should try to make some money out of this channel ( with by me a coffee or paypal or anything) last thing: you are a very unique person, with ups and downs . people or i like that. but one of the best video was that one , when you were walking through the streets at night. it felt so free and funny. just keep on going with youtube. i can see that you really want it. and those people gonna make it. best from hamburg.

Unfortunately these days , college is virtually useless in terms of getting a degree which gets you employed. Otherwise if you can afford to get education for the sake of education , great . keep vlogging and do music .

So please forgive this naive US Yank, so is college like high school in the US and GCSEs are like the SAT or ACT standardized tests/ exams to prepare for US college or University in the UK?

No, do not say that again. Knowledge my boy knowledge. The Serpent gives knowledge. Physics describes the function of this Matrix, chemistry describes the composition and biology describes the creatures created by the serpent according to a different spectrum of thermodynamics. At least solve maths to get more clever and exploit everyone you meet on your passage.

Sounds like the UK educational system is bit rushed, I think the problem is your 16 and you already have to decide how to become an adult. In America most people graduate at age 17 or 18, and by that are they are bit more mature. We really don't have an apprentice programs here, and the choices are find work or go to the University. What I am hearing is a 16 teenager not ready for adulthood. It would be prefect if you could find something you like and get paid for it but unfortunately most people work to make a living. Work is work and most of the time is not fun and News Flash that is Life. I know you enjoy making videos but not everybody can be net famous or influencer. It's like someone wanting to be come an Actor and thinking they will get rich and famous, that is unrealistic only 2% of actors make a living. It's not really your fault Current Western Culture has made everybody think they could be internet famous. Liam you have to get your act together, take course that can lead you to a job. Okay you like KZbin, then take course in communications, at least that head you in a stronger direction,

@kewldude90 , in case you or others outside of the UK don't know... When he says "college", it's not the same as University. In the UK Sixth Form College is sort of like 11th & 12th grades in North America, but they do tend to focus in on a particular subject or area of study like Media, Languages or History rather than all the typical ones folks in America would study at 16-18. There are apparently different streams that may or may not be available everywhere. (A Levels, BTECs, IB, etc) 🤓

Can't you take a break from college now and go back later in year or so? Oh, you just answered. Must be in school until 18. Can you not find an internship at a TV station/media producer of some sort?
@MrDominicBrant24 күн бұрын
the government is trying to keep young people focussed and engaged. people who 'drop out' from 16-18 mostly never make it back into a meaningful life. I agree with your internship ideas, and I hope he can follow them. of he has to take KZbin so seriously he learns other skills - camera, light, sound. The more of those skills he gets the better his channel will be.

Oh, you meant to go to a country club? Huh. Immediate gratification or a bit of work for your future, same as saying, others care for you or you are capable of caring for yourself. Not necessarily college, but working toward a future, looking at where you're at and deciding where you want to be. Some classes are awesome, some suck, just like days at work or in life.
