Jess is right about the drive thru thing because being on the headset for those speaker boxes you can never hear the person in the passenger seat!! It’s so hard and we all wish for the person in the drivers seat to say the order. She can even repeat it to you in the moment and you as the driver say it louder for the speaker box
@alondrasoto2250 Жыл бұрын
I live for these podcasts. It makes your relationship seem so much more realistic. Social media obviously makes people seem perfect and that’s super huge with you guys, but the podcasts are so relatable. I feel like I’m really seeing you guys as people and not “influencers”
@nicolemartel8661 Жыл бұрын
30:02 on this point of Jess wanting to resolve things herself sometimes: this is so important! Sometimes we know that we’re upset over a small thing, and other factors may be causing us to overreact and we don’t want to start a fight. When this happens I just tell my husband: “I need some time to be upset/annoyed/mad right now”. And that’s his cue to *leave me alone*! He says okay then walks away immediately. I take my time to process the issue, do something that makes me happy, then I come back and let him know I’m good. Sometimes I’ll tell him what the issue was (if it’s something I think he should be aware of/do better on next time) and sometimes we just don’t discuss it because it’s a me problem. This is literally the reason we’ve never had a real fight (yelling/name calling/storming out/etc) in the 9+ years we’ve been together. LET PEOPLE BE UPSET AND WORK OUT THEIR FEELINGS!!😂

i feel like it'd be easier for the person closest to the window make the order for everyone. even if you have to pass the order along, or just make sure you got everything written down before you get there, that way it feels much smoother and easier for the drive-thru staff to hear it
@Kiayamarieee Жыл бұрын
I think the intention of this video actually turned into great advice from Jess and Gabe and Bobby too! Because a lot of these “issues” were either resolved or not happening as much anymore and I think a big thing I saw was intentionality and the want to serve the other. Beautiful❤️
@katiehanson6253 Жыл бұрын
FYI Jess is 1,000,000 million percent correct on ordering in a DT... my most hated situation managing something like a dunkin... is a passenger order, they're hard to hear to begin with let alone if they're soft spoken, and even more so if it's windy or rainy. Realize you can hear us fine, it's hard to hear you.

29:30 topic. I do understand Gabe in this debate because it's part of marriage and being partners. Yes let's say that you want to resolve it yourself but try to think about what your partner would feel especially when they think that it's their fault. They just care about you and want to help you.

31:52 I work at Starbucks and I couldn’t tell you the amount of times I’ve had to say ‘im sorry I can’t hear you from the passenger seat’. I get both sides though cause it is easier to have everyone say their own, but those microphones can be muffled sometimes so the distance from the passenger seat can be hard to hear. I even have a hard time hearing people in the drivers seat sometimes.

Lol I laughed at the sock folding comment. My partner told me earlier in our relationship that I wasn't folding washing correctly and I was like, "Oh really, is that so?" And he was like, "Yes, you do it the wrong way." So I said, "OK, well it looks like you've just earned yourself a lifetime gig because that's your job from now on for all our washing. That suits me just fine." Hahaha total backfire. 5 years later, the only time I fold his washing is when he's away for work but I make him do it when he's home😂 while I put everything in the washing machine to be washed and then in the dryer and he has to fold it and put it away lol.

On the drive through subject - whoever is driving is meant to say if it’s just me and my partner BUT if I say an order to him that’s too complicated he’ll say “I’m not going to remember that” and then I’ll just say my own I think it’s already being at the box that’s extra awkward

Where Jess says sometimes you want to show you are right but its not worth it. I agree. But I see that in a point of view like sometimes when we argue or have certain opinion on something comes from a beilief which lot of the times we dont want to CHANGE as its a firm one. Its nice to be open to understand what other person has to say but when you cant find common ground. Its better to walk away. Understand the differences and not cross the boundries till you ready to understand or make a peace with saying okay thats their belief i dont have to agree neither them but understand where are we both coming from having this belief. Cause we as a Human BELIEVE in something and HOPE for better future or anything to SURVIVE.

Belatedly weighing in on an unimportant debate haha. I really liked what one guy from Europe said, like "best country" is far too vague. America is the most important country in the world. Americans follow American politics. People from other countries follow their national politics, AND American politics, because it's that important. America has the largest economy, by a landslide. The largest military, by a landslide. The most advanced country technologically. And Australia I have a ton of respect for, it's a burgeoning country, rising economically and militarily. Still, your everyday life in Australia, like in Europe, is going to be affected in ways by politics in the US in a way that it simply won't be the other way around.

Jess, with drivethru ordering, get your list down on your phone and hand it over to Gabe. Do the same thing when ordering in larger family situations, if Gabe's family doesn't have a problem shouting their orders than fine. It just makes the whole experience for you stress free. I do it for my family. I'll make a list and hand it over to the driver. None one is left sweating under their collar 😅

It's not even about "she's dinner and then wait for dessert" or "dinner than eat dessert right after." It's respecting boundaries which my husband doesn't do either and I have to specifically say "this is my boundary" now switched it for public settings and I say " this is my story and I'm sticking to it" it helps at church and public when the husband is very oblivious... What's the time? I think it's kind of pride or selfish or not dying to self in that moment and thinking. I feel like men don't think and woman think too much. I think we both need to come together and die to herself and be more thoughtful for each other's feelings. It's hard but I'm working on not worrying too much. But now my husband needs to think about worrying and caring little more especially in public settings.
