I Hate my Zuma 125

5 things that i hate about my 2011 Yamaha Zuma 125. Granted there are many good points I just wanted to show some of the negatives.

I personally prefer having just one light on. Especially in the night when other drivers judge the distance of other cars by the distance between the two headlights. When people see two lights on a road very close to each other, they usually assume that there is a car in the distance. They think there is enough space to pull out onto the road and bang. Another dead motorcyclist. This is not something that I just made up. It happens quite frequently over here... :(

@@therealmrsteve yes, most Yamaha Zumas do only have one light working at a time, but many people (including myself) connect the light cables by soldering them together and bam, you have yourself a dual. It looks much better but as mentioned above it’s way more dangerous

Real deal your complaints are valid. I would never complain about stupid scooter shit but to someone comparing models your right the mirrors you have to change they just look stupid the light mod and led tail light was the first thing I did the front storage container I bought and don't use it's dumb and you drill into wires haha. No you can store a full face under seat but there is a hook for the helmet to be locked under seat toward front. Also it has more storage than most scoots and it doesn't get hot which is nice. All in all it's the best option right now compared to Chinese scoots. Those are nice but I like the main brands and Yamaha has the engine which is all I cared about. Reliability.

I have a 2014 Zuma 125 that I just bought. I freaking love it!!! All of your complaints are subjective, they're yours and not other people's. Mine sits with my '07 R1 and '14 FZ09 so I'm a Yamaha guy. I don't know any people 5hat don't like their Zuma be it a 50cc or 125cc. They all love them! So yes you are extra complainy!

Some good points. I'm toying with getting a 50cc, either a Zuma or Ruckus. The single headlight is annoying, but it seems like you get better features on the Zuma, such as front disc brake and fuel injection. The lack of a kick start is concerning though.

good video and the comments are even funnier i have to say but just bought a 2011 125 zuma and like it so far. You are correct on all 5 points and I have already bought the extra little pocket for the front, headlights could care less about, and i am 5 10 and have to stop and hold upright on the tips of my toes so cannot imagine many shorter people actually buy a zuma if they test drove it first. Anyways don't take the comments personally if you are getting raked but the panites comment a few below me still has me laughing. Keep up the good work and i will subscribe to you rot now..

I have a 2014 Zuma 50cc and some of these features have been improved, Mirrors, gas cap on floor, cup holder, hook on front console, deeper storage, but I will say one thing that nobody on these reviews ever mentions and thats, no kickstarter. You don't think about it until you have a problem. My C3 had a kickstarter. I'm going to see if I can get one after market.

ME and my VAG LOVE my ZUMA! I can change my own oil in 5 mins and for 15 bucks. I get 80 MPG. I NEVER have to pay for parking. I get to where I am going in HALF the time it takes in a car. MY ZUMA IS maneuverable, forgiving, light, easy to ride. Its belt driven so if you drop it just pick it up and keep going! You aren't going to change my mind......EVER

I am anticipating a 150 cc replica of the zuma 125. It's on order. I rather liked the placement of the gas cap when I ordered the bike. Turning the wheel to fill up seems more practical than lifting the seat as I do on my present scooter, and there's no chance of polluting or smelling up the cargo area if I spill some gas. If you sit a little higher than on the Honda, you are more visible and scooters need all the help they can get.

On the 2016 Zuma they did modified the gas tank location to the front left side. there's a little pocket in the front right side and there's more storage space. I can fit a helmet in mine.

Ditto, I have Vmax where I have to gear up fully (a real pain) before venturing out. With the Zuma, all I need is a half face helmet and I am pretty much ready to go. The only negative for me is the top speed which should have been at least 110 kph...lol

I have this same bike I definitely agree that its a bad spot for gas. I love it overall though.... And I'm 5'5.

You hit all the points that make it difficult for me! xD You hit the nail on the head. I added a top box, so storage is better for me now. It was hard before the top box... carrying my full-face helm around was annoying. I hated shopping with it! About the seat height: if you pull in the brakes and shift your body to one side, you can put a full foot down pretty easy. That's the way I do it... I do want something a little more powerful eventually, though. The speed limitations: only about 60 mph max that I could hit (downhill with wind on my butt), and only 40-45 on steep hills with FULL throttle. It limits you where you can ride it. I know it wasn't made for highways and stuff, but eh... I did notice it had more power after I put a K&N Air Filter in, but it was pricey... It seemed to help, though. Somehow I lost a bolt off of my rear suspension swingbar, which I don't understand how... I'm thinking maybe from going full throttle so much due to necessity, I might have shook it out, which is nuts... I just replaced that. ................. That gas cap really bugs me, too, though... HAHA.

I like this review. All legit yet petty complaints. I'm looking to buy one soon. #1: That would bother me too and I would mos def do that mod. #2: I'd get bar end mirrors. #3: Yah that is a stupid design. #4: Just wear a backpack. Lock the full face helmet on the bar. But yah sucks it can't fit a full faced helmet. #5: I'm 5'7" and was able to flat foot it. I ride a tall Ducati Hypermotard so almost anything is low compared to that.

u can fit a full face depending on which way, the little pockets/cup holders r $15 on ebay, and its better that the zuma sits taller because it doesn't scrape the rosd when leaning in for a turn. it sits higher because its made to go offroad. thats why it has those spring looking tubes on forks.

I had a 2013 Zuma 50, but it was a problem not being able to keep up with traffic, so found a second hand 2012 Zuma 125. The 50 had the oval mirrors, so I swapped 'em out because yeah, those round ones are stupid. And the 50 had TWICE the storage space the 125 has. It even came with a cup holder which I really miss. I mean, where do you put the garage door opener??? The 50 also had the gas receptacle in the floor. Much easier. Weird how much better they designed that 50 than they did the 125, but at least now I don't get the low-speed wobble going up steep hills!

I love how this video butt hurt so many. But what makes it an AWESOME video is that Yamaha has addressed almost every one of his complaints and made changes to the new zuma 125. Its a cool scoot but it could have been WAY better.

I have a pcx 150 and had a zuma 125 and I had a blast with my zuma just as much as my PCX. the PCX is faster but the Zuma was smoother on bumpy roads

You get what you pay for. I own a Zuma 50 and a Honda 150 PCX. The Honda is a good amount more money, but a thousand times better quality from A to Z. You pay little, you get little.

I just bought a 2014 kuma 125cc and it's great. I am a 5"2 guy n I have no problem of having my foot to the ground when comes to a stop. Plus I never drove a bike before, to me ride this bike it seems vary ez

As a cheap buy faster scooter, the 125 which is the higher class, does not have the left side holder which is a useful feature. The two bug eye lights are sport!!!

#1 - You're not looking at the lights as you ride, and as you mentioned, there is a work-around. #2 - Mirrors can be changed, really easily too! In fact, I'd probably change them even if I did like the stock ones, just because I can. #3 - I though it was at a nice height, saves bending over and god, could you imagine what it would look like level? But yes maybe it could have a better location. #4 - Storage!!! I didn't think Zuma's were the bike of choice for storage just looking at them, definitely the kind of thing you check you check when buying a bike, right? #5 - Get high-heels! But honestly looking at the bike I would say they're nice, there's something I really like about them.

Tim Sharky Productions both are the same look with a bit difference tire size but overall same bike. you might get away with it, or are already cause your post is a month old but THE part that might get you questioned is more the looks of the zuma not the cc size. it just looks beafier than the little riva or elite hondas so that alone might get you questioned as to the size of the engine,,,,even if you have a zuma 50 your school parking people might still want to probe further just because they look crazy powerful

I'm under 5'4" (I don't want to know, I lost a lot due to a spinal surgery) and I do have to tiptoe, or just use one leg. And it is a bit uncomfortable. The C3 was a better fit for me, but the Zuma is a better bike in almost every way. Handles better, more power, better look, depending on what you like. I mean I have the 50cc, so... Some people even think that it's a motorcycle. I got the blue and white one. The C3 was a good bike but it was clumsy the way it handled. I wish I could get the Zuma 125cc but I can't get my class 6 (motorcycle license) because my back is so screwed up.

Ergonomics wasn't the greatest but that changed on the newer 2016 models. What made the older models popular back then was the fuel injected engine. Reliable and starts everytime vs back then was flooded with China made crap scooters.

I Love my Zuma 125. Headlights, I don't really care about that I guess, I notice motorcycles that have the same design, and I mostly ride mine in the day, at night the brighter the better, if I rode outside of city streets much I'd do the mod. I've had a few rides back from outside of town late and the headlights left a bit to be desired. I agree on the mirrors adjusted perfectly they work, but the tiniest bump and they're out, a larger mirror would be better I'm going to look for a replacement. Gas cap, yep, I always have to grab a towel, impossible to keep from dripping on the seat. I'm 5'7 and yeah it's a bit too tall, I just slide off to the right a bit just set my right flat down, keeps my left leg inside the scooter incase some jerk off clips me turning left at a light. But it's not the best fit for a guy who's inseam is less than 36 inches, it's tall, or more to the point it's wide (which is nice and comfortable when you're not at a stop light) , several reviews mention it, no argument. I can get my full face under the seat but it's super tight and I sometimes have to press down on the seat as I turn the key to get it to release. Personal side notes, Elite 110 is a nice bike, I have a friend who has one, hard to find a deal on one, very popular, Honda makes good stuff. My friend has a storage trunk for his 110, anyway for helmet rain gear and extras. I'm going to add a trunk, always an option, affordable, more reflectors, more storage. Speed, my buddy is about a buck-fifty,and I'm about two-forty-two, stock, Elite can't keep up, even with an extra 100 pounds on the Zuma, it's still faster, uphill, downhill, flats doesn't matter, both have a governor and the Zuma's is just set higher. Aftermarket parts, in the scooter world Honda Ruckus is the King of aftermarket parts, but Zuma is the contender and in the above 50cc market cannot be touched, if you want to customize your scooter, but you don't want a 50cc, Zuma 125.

no way I've ridden mine with my wife on it (2 people, over 300 pds combined and I'm 6,1") and I can still cruise 40mph if there's no headwind (and thats on a zuma 50, not a 125)the specs say it can handle 320 pds no problem (49cc). my advice to you since your a bit taller is try leaning forward or backward to lower your drag maybe? idk at 230 pds you shouldn't have any issues with a properly running Zuma 125.
