I’m from NYC and I moved to Marin, and I have ADHD. The first 2 years was rough, I still struggle with fitting in here but I’m finally starting to accept it.

What is the city like? What is the culture like in term of everyday life in and around the city?

It’s pretty laid back. Very pretty. Still very city but coming from a large city like New York, there’s no constant on the go” if you know what I mean.

@@akilahdashacreates Thank you! Also, I'm from Canada, which is not NY fast, but has had its moment pre-COVID but is pretty dead. What does the night life like? Is there a dating scene like? DO you see it as a place to put down roots?

Wow, interestingly, I’ve wanted to move to Toronto since I visited back in 2017….but I’m still here in the US. lol. In terms of putting down roots somewhere, that’s something that I personally struggle with but I am looking for a place to actually put down roots. I’m in school so I don’t really have time for the dating scene…night life is cool…it’s what you make of it. All in all, it depends on what you’re looking for. Now as I’m regulating myself, can I see me being here long term? It’s a possibility lol

@@akilahdashacreates Toronto would be a luke warm knock off of the Bay but dead dead even more so since covid but visiting will always and forever be a cool experience because of how deeply embedded multiculturalism is here. Also, the CDA dollar has been decimated and that may continue to fall with the major shake-ups in the world. Also, the homelessness issue is an unfortunate phenomenon across the US and Canada. Is it really awful in the Bay? What are the police like? Are their supportive city, community partnerships? Are the industries that are visible loudly supportive of the Bay, or is there the divisiveness that is shown a lot in the media? I'm seriously considering the Bay, and don't want to take that leap under the assumption that the grass is greener, even though it maybe in ways that I need. Also, I read that the Bay is a city of millennials. Is that true and if so how does that impact the culture? And thank you so much for being so open and forthright with sharing your journey! It is so appreciated!

First and foremost, I am cracking up at “Luke warm knock off” 🤣🤣🤣. I think at times, Toronto felt like a get away from all things US. You may have been the extra sign for me to stay my ass here lol! In regards to SF, it’s small but doable. What I do like is that you have everything you need driving distance. The nature is absolutely beautiful. Transportation is fine…I mean Iived in NY so nothing would beat that, however, I do enjoy the option of driving or public transportation. I will tell they love their dogs…you’ll definitely see dogs on public transportation lol. The homelessness is bad…from what I see it’s mostly in the downtown area. It’s a mixture of drugs and mental illness. However, as long as you stay alert you’ll be fine. I will say, if you can…definitely visit as much as possible to make sure that it’s what you want and need. It’s funny because the longer I’m here, the more I realize I manifested what I have here. San Francisco is actually pretty diverse. The police have been fine from what I see. Divisiveness is everywhere but to the extent of what you’re asking, I haven’t seen it. Honestly, any kind of move is gonna be different and you have to find your tribe through common interests. Hope that helps!

I’m not sure how old you are but a lot of your symptoms sound like peri menopause (starts in late 30’s) HRT is helpful for anxiety, doom and gloom thinking and ADHD stuff. Also bone health !!

I’m 45. Face value I would definitely agree, however, I’ve been like this since I was a teenager.
