As someone who has only played the game casually, I love that you shared the fact about the damageless lava in Dark Passage when you did you Japanese Spyro run. This allowed me to immediately appreciate the floor placed in that exact spot in Reignited. I know you told your viewers this time too, but it made me happy as soon as the floor was visible. Worst sin: no drop shadow. The shadow wasn't always below spyro just due to technical limitations. Also: missing the igneous rock pores in idol springs. Those are special volcanic rocks damn it, and they just turned them into NORMAL rocks.

As someone who grew up with the og and fond of the remaster, it does have its flaws. Certain jumps don't work as they did with the og (the town square egg thief took me a long time while I got that jump and glide consistently on og hardware for example), flame charge doesn't work as it should.. However I did note one thing my copy of remaster had, that I never saw before.. My copy, after 120%ing and restarting, had a 30/70 chance to skip Nestor's talk at the start of a new run. I've never seen it happen to any other player, so idk if it was just my game or if I'm just not looking into it hard enough.

I went back to this game a few months ago and the worst part on console is the framerate. I can get used to 30fps it genuinely hurts my eyes at first. I have no clue why it never got a 60fps patch.

I loved SRT! Also, I played the original when I was waaay younger and on Consoles. I forgot all the exploits/mechanics of the originals and I didnt even use the OG controls since playing with either of them wouldnt have mattered, I would have to learn both of them from 0 anyways. Also my memories were foggy so SRT not being 100% faithful wasnt an issue for me. Gotta say the flame not hitting far enough is kinda bullshit especially in the flight levels.

I 100%ed both Spyro 1 and 2, got halfway through Spyro 3 (in terms of overall completion) and legit just couldn't do it anymore lmao. Quit the game completely overnight. All those speedway levels will really suck the soul out of a man, especially in Spyro 3 where they start having multiple objectives.

Srt isnt actually bad until you get to the third game which was obviously rushed asf. All the vehicles and alt characters either control like ass or are buggy/broken except for agent 9 for some reason. The skateboard races *really* suffer from this though because the skateboard controls horrifically AND its buggy as all F.

For what it's worth I adore Reignited but I do understand the frustrations, it's a very mixed bag overall, luckily it being made in Unreal means modders have pretty much already sunk their claws into it so there's bound to be a mod out there that aims to recreate the original game in terms of feel and mechanics but I only know of the graphics overhaul that gives it the ps1 look, not sure if it goes beyond that but I do know it's created from the ground up rather than just ripping the assets from the original games and throwing them on top, you know?

I think my biggest issues with Reignited come down to an overall lack of faithfulness to the original, especially visually. There's so many changes (big and small) made to the gameplay and art direction that feel meaningless or like they were done without any care for the original's design. A good remake (in my opinion) finds a good balance between remaining true to the original game's tone and style, while adding new things that make the game feel more modern and fresh. Unfortunately, this is not something that Reignited does a good job of. A lot of the time, it seems like the changes are for the worse and make no attempt to remain faithful at all. To be fair, some changes are ones I actually like and do feel genuinely meaningful, such as giving the dragons their own individual designs. It's a natural step forward with the modern technology developers have at their disposal and doesn't take away anything in the process. Other changes I don't care for at all. Lots of levels no longer have the same atmosphere, which makes them feel lesser. Beast Makers went from being a grungy, frightening muckland to an almost tropical, brighter place. Lofty Castle's colors were made weirdly washed out for the skybox yet way darker for the actual environment, lacking consistency present in the original version. Sunny Flight ditched the otherworldly greens of the original in favor of a generic blue sky. Toasty for some reason has no stained glass window. And those are just some examples from the first game... don't get me started on how bad Cloud Spires looks in Reignited. A lot of this is subjective, but those seemingly small changes to the way the levels look really add up, especially if you're a huge fan of the original. This isn't even going into things like the changes to character designs and voice direction. Sorry for the long-winded comment, but watching this got me thinking about it.

The thing is I love Spyro Reignited but I also complain about it a shit ton, theres a lot of lag even on the PS4 version especially in the third game I noticed. Year of the dragon's super bonus round level, especially the skateboard one, is so fucking laggy and full of frame rate issues and other glitches that it was almost impossible for me to beat it for a while. I can't imagine what PC port of that part is like, maybe better but I have a feeling its way worse. Still a pretty solid remake and a lot of fun, very beautiful graphics and I really appreciate it, but you are so fucking based for complaining abt its glaring issues too

They did an amazing job on the first game. But the second and third didn't get enough love. They said it was cuz they were rushed and didn't have time. Well it's been how ever long and it looks the same to me. I really wish they went back and fixed the other 2 games. Still functions well. Still is Spyro. But so many small things that just put this trilogy under the original even though the art in this one is amazing. One thing I am annoyed about is the collision. SO many walls you can not touch cuz I guess they let Unreal create the collision instead of creating their own. Which is not hard by the way. I can tell you that from personal experience. Can be time consuming depending on what it is. Dude is complaining about the load times only to realize how much little detail is in this game.

The original is a beautiful PS1 game. The crazy draw distance with its oil painting LOD effect. It's state of the art and controls like a dream. Reignited looks and feels no better than any PS4 game.It's a cute platformer instead of a mind blow when stood alongside its contemporaries.

Looking at and hearing SRT physically makes me cringe. I can't even imagine playing it. It's familiar, but completely different at the same time. Not to mention all of the charm from the original is gone. The only good thing about SRT is that new players are introduced to Spyro, and hopefully they'll check out the original and see how much better it is.
