THANK YOU! Fuck, not only is the owner of Liliana forgetting the BEST PART of her abilities, not one other person noticed either, so there's 4 people not RTFC when it comes to Liliana. Janel should have lost a long time ago. I've never seen mistakes this bad before where it leads to a completely different winner. Hell, I swear there were turns when Janel didn't even activate one of Lili's loyalty abilities either. She played really, really badly.

I will say, I built a pretty dank Liliana, Heretical Healer deck with lots of Liliana planeswalkers so you better believe I am tracking those triggers diligently now :)

When Janel is sacrificing the 2 zombie token creatures with Liliana Dreadhorde General on the field doesn't she have to draw because of the static ability of Liliana and she would have had zero cards to draw so when it went back to her final turn she would have drawn out and lost?

Normally I love that facet of this channel, but to me, it felt like Lynch was being disingenuous about the power level of his deck this time. I mean, without seeing the decklists I can't be sure, but it sure seemed like everyone was taken by surprise when Lynch dropped Mana Crypt and Fierce Guardianship. He didn't win and everyone seemed to mostly be having a good time, so maybe it doesn't really matter. I just don't want to see Lynch slip into the pubstomping shoes Joe always wore.

Maybe it’s my years of being sarcastic and doing my best to hide salt (because I know it’s not cool but I can’t help how i feel) that gave me that vibe, I don’t know.

This episode is just Higher explaining to people all their lines and I love it. Lynch is just trying to throw Bombs and Higher is sitting there with all the numbers and algorithms floating around his head 😂😂

Janel was missing triggers with her meren too. The experience counters on care about putting stuff in play. She has to target every turn and put it in her hand if the CMC is not equal to experience counters

I’m not sure Janel fully gets how Meren works. She can choose any creature she wants in her graveyard and it doesn’t have to be less than or equal to experience counters. I noticed when she first brought Meren out after she milled half her library, she never grabbed a creature at the end step. Still a fun episode though!

I love the modular narset. I have a mono red chaos commander deck. It's just good red stuff with a bunch of legendary creatures. At the beginning of the game I shuffle and reveal till I hit a commander

While entertaining still poor Janel was dead long ago. Liliana has a passive ability that would have drawn her out the turn she started with 3 cards. Whenever a creature you control dies draw a card. Draw for turn, 2 left in library. She later that turn minus 4ed Lily and sacrificed 2 zombies. Therefore at the beginning of the next turn she would have lost, Assuming none of her creatures died before then. Regardless, still a fun game to watch. Keep em coming!

As a fellow meren player she could have been returning creatures from graveyard to hand at her end steps even with no experience counters to help deal with board issues

I will never understand why whomever designed Meren thought it was not broken to simply return a creature to hand with no experience counters, all the experience commanders needed the counters to do anything not Meren. LOL My buddy and I bought the Meren and Ezuri. My poor Ezuri precon did not ever stand a chance so I took it apart and than returned to the store and bought a Meren Deck. #LoveMeren :P

There was kind of a big misplay at the end there, Janel forgot several of her Liliana, Dreadhorde General triggers (draw a card whenever a creature you control dies) which would've maybe even kept Lynch in the play(?). Lynch does your bruvac deck have persistent petitioners? You can run any number of them, plus they can either tap 1 tapping itself to have target player mill one card or tap four untapped advisors you control to have target player mill 12 cards.

Just a note: Bruvac doesn’t trigger, it’s a replacement effect. That means you can’t Stifle it, and neither can you respond to it. Not that it really matters, since you can just respond to the mill, and I don’t think Stifle effects are that popular in EDH (unless it’s something like Hushbringer or that proctor card from Strixhaven).
