My favorite thing about this channel is how much you normalize proxying. I'm a firm believer that no one should be priced out of this amazing game, and even though that seems to be what WotC is doing these days, proxying with a supportive playgroup is a great way to keep your love of magic alive!

That's why I always preach proxy before you buy, and also I will never down someone if they can't afford the game. Poor shaming someone is a worse kind of gate keeping and it's not fun.

To be fair, except in this case because the cards were not out yet, they typically own the cards they are proxying. They just have a lot of decks that share the same cards.

I agree with this but at the same time I do draw a line as a person who only builds deck from my bulk collection (power levels average of 6-7 across 24 decks). If someone's proxied let's say more than 30% (roughly 20+ cards) of their nonland cards I will ask them not to play that deck.

There should've been a five color legendary land commander that flips into cybertron. That would make a great commander. Tap: All artifact creatures you control get +1/+1 this turn, and you may pay wuberg and flip target artifact creature you control.

I think a Primus / Cybertron flip card or Unicron card could work really well for this, with them starting on the land sides (as ok artifact synergy lands) and a difficult flip condition that would flip them into powerful creatures. (for context Unicron is a giant planet transformer, and Primus is the tansformers god, and sometimes transformers into Cybertron itself)

Affinity works with jeweled loytus, it is a classic trick of vintage with black lotus, you declare the card and place it on the stack, there the cost is decided and them when you have to pay you can crack the lotus as a mana ability

It was originally Autobots and Decepticons because they wanted one side to be cars and the other side was based around common household items like a tape recorder, a camera, or a pistol. Then they just threw in several recolors of a jet they had for good measure.

My current goal is to build a five-color Transformers deck using all fifteen of them. The commander is going to be either the new Jodah (arguably the best commander for this gameplay-wise) or Jared (for flavor purposes: Planeswalkers have Sparks, just like the Transformers themselves).

I think windfall is supposed to resolve before the mindcrank/ascension loop goes on the stack. It doesn't seem right that you would resolve half of the spell then start milling.

Actually before he cast Windfall everyone should have milled to Altar of Brood, to trigger first. Something we all missed. That happens all the time in kitchen table or LGS magic.

@@IHateYourDeck Yes, but mindcrank wasn't on the battlefield at the time of the mill, so the trigger didn't go infinite. Everyone should have drawn the amount of cards in Isaac's hand before resolving the other triggers.. Would be interesting to see if anyone is left after drawing all those cards!

For Altar of Brood to Trigger Mindcrank has to ETB. So I believe that it would see the mill from the Altar trigger. Wouldn't it?

yes, that's why on magic online when you cast with affinity allways click on it then pay costs, really usefull on pauper affinity to cast those thoughtcasts with stars

Actually you can do both, you can sac to add the mana to the mana pool and then cast your spell or announce the cast of the spell and then pay its cost. It's a matter of how you sequence your actions. The way they did it was right even if not the best option, Lynch announced the sacrifice of the Lotus before announcing the cast, so when he intends to cast his commander, it don't see the Lotus anymore.

Yes, but you can still choose to sac the lotus for the mana first. The process of actually casting the spell is the same in both cases, it's just that if you sac the lotus first, you're using the mana from your mana pool to pay, rather than using it from the lotus's mana ability directly. In other words it's not a technically incorrect/illegal play, it's just a suboptimal one

U cant resolve the Bloodchief Ascention triggers in the middle of windfall, u discard and then draw right after. (BA triggers go on the stack after drawing that many cards), meaning if someone draw more than what it had in their library the loose before Bloodchief Ascention triggers resolve.

Question (spoilers) if David had less cards left in his deck then Isaac had cards in his hands wouldn't that mean that David looses before the blood chief/mindcrank gets online? (Because of windfalls)

That would be the case if Mindcrank entering didn't already trigger the Altar and start the infinite combo. Everyone was dead before Windfall was even played.

Lynch and Sean would mill their decks while taking 2 for each card. Issac would mill one card and lose 2 life. Leaving the Windfall to finish off Issac with a chance of David milling himself at the same time. That said it isn't likely because Issac was getting milled while also putting a bunch of lands onto the field.

I think you're right. I was trying to look this up and couldn't find much. However, from what I found, I think windfall technically has to finish resolving before any of the other triggers go on the stack. Though Issac probably had a smaller library than anyone else anyways, so it's unlikely to have killed anyone.

I have made decklists for 4 of the available commanders from the Transformer cards. Optimus, Megatron, Soundwave, and Ultra Magnus. Naya kaalia effects with artifact creatures is a lot of fun and I cant wait to get the cards so I can put the cards together. For all of these commanders I am so excited for these decks.

The one thing they did not address is that they each have to draw a number of cards == to issacs current hand size(Silly high) If anyone had less cards in their deck(Mainly David) They would lose the game before any of the triggers happened. David had played a ton of cards; It is possible he would have lost(Removing mind crank and other triggers from the stack before they happen)

I have been waiting for Soundwave to be an MTG card for my entire life, and it has finally come to fruition! The Transformers TCG "box set" with Soundwave vs Blaster was super cool, but nothing compared to these cards actually being in the game that i've played since the early 90's! I am not sure about the end, you have to resolve all the windfall before resolving the triggers, so maybe he would have lost by drawing if his library was smaller than Isaac's hand in which case, the triggers from bloodchief and mindcrank would not have resolved

Not that it mattered, but affinity is "locked in" when the spell is declared, so sacrificing the jeweled lotus to cast Megatron around 27:00 wouldn't have lowered the affinity.

The OG Jodah is the 4th (our graphics person made a mistake of putting the wrong image for Jodah for this graphic). I wish we had made a 4th transformers deck, but we didn't get one made in time before shooting this episode. But we wanted to still have fun and shoot this episode to drop to celebrate the release of Transformers. We picked what we thought was the best 3 to play, especially for the lore and flavor!

Milling doesn't kill you. It's the following failure to draw that kills you, just for clarification. For example, say you were milled out. If you had the mana available and an instant like psychic spiral or Learn from the past in hand, you could save yourself before you draw.

I think there was no confusion here (David says that he can mill his friend, who would die when he tries to draw the next time). Maybe I see where you're going, since everyone should've milled when Mindcrank etb, and if David casts Windfall, he could die to his friend having a lot of cards in hand. But considering how many lands Isaac fetched during the game (and drew a lot too), I'm pretty confident that David would've had enough cards in his library to be alive and see his friend try to draw from an empty library.

Megatron is complicated, but I disagree you want robot mode first - I built my deck to kickstart him by sacking 2-mama wellsprings et al to fling trample at opponents' utility x/1 creatures, then he'll flip to robot mode before defenders can be declared

I think it was a bit of bad design to have megatron at 7 power and optimus at 8 butt since theyre supposed to be approximately evenly matched. Means optimus can always swing into megatron and lose nothing.

Not sure how all 3 other players didn't realize he already played a land. Mistakes happen for sure but to get past all of you is pretty bad. Helpful hint for gameplay Lynch, put equipment and auras behind cards but above them, not below. It takes up less space and is clear to other players. Just something I've learned over the years because I see too many people making that mistake. The text of the card isn't relevant to you or your opponents. It isn't like they can read it upside down but they can recall what the card does by the name.

I will say editing sucks out a lot of space. People think a lot in magic. Plus sometimes you are looking at your hand or the board at specific things. It can be easy to miss. But with the magic of editing now there’s no waiting it’s straight cuts to important stuff. In post or on the show it’s super easy to see. But sometimes there’s so much time goes by or we had to change cards. People goto the bathroom. You re-roll the cameras. It’s easier to make mistakes for sure. But yes we try to minimize it for sure.
