Great interactive game. Big hats off to you for taking the time and putting the huge effort into going back after the game and fixing the mistake. We kinda got an alternate ending to a movie in a sense. With that said, here's a crazy idea: What if you marked pivotal moments in the game and then came back to play the game out from that moment on with a different decision being made 🤔 There's always a moment or two in everyone's game where one player removes something or let's a spell or effect go through when they have a way to stop it but elect not to because of something they are planning...what if they hadn't made that choice? I think it would be really cool to see a game "go back in time" and play out what would have happened differently. The games here are always great but that could be a way to really stand out from the crowd. Whatcha think?

Larry is truly one of those people who would be a gem to play with. He absolutely can hang with the best of them, but isn't afraid to bring more niche/all or nothing decks like Zada. He is a super nice guy, at least as far as giving you the FAFO warning. This was a great game. David's deck looks pretty sweet, and I know he'll pick up the win some day! Would love to keep seeing the Larry/David pairing because they have great banter.

I agree, I don't like when players do such things, I usually make sure to ask everyone if the spell resolves just so that it's clear that everyone at the table passed priority and had a chance to interact. Or at least they should've taken a shot of hot sauce for it since that's their rule.

Just posted the same sentiments earlier today and in full agreement. You can't rewind the board state for you to respond because Lynch is thinking about killing you with 2 Terror triggers on the stack after a spell has resolved.

Yeah. That's not even a take backsies shot. You can't wait until you become the target to react to something that happened two spells ago. And she's the judge and pretty adamant about catching other peoples missplays and unlawful actions. Kinda feels like it was against her better judgement. Especially when she tried winning the game with an infinite combo that can't work. Also she somehow played seething song two turns in a row in the end. First a Lynch' first big go-off and then on her turn she played it two times. That's 3 pivotal unlawful plays in one game and all of them are in her favour. That's... cheating.

Ayli choosing to walk back to the casting of the dragon AFTER being targeted is kind of a cheap move.. She wouldn’t have known that they were targeting her until after they hit the battlefield 👎 Overall this was a great episode. Felt sorry for Larry with the mana screw and not being able to do much. Also, Ayli showed me more ways I can squeeze value out of copy spells. Thanks for taking the time to fix the game!

Well done. I'm glad you caught this mistake because it's one even I could have made. It is quite a high level one considering usually copies of spells copy everything on the card. I guess the exception to this is casting conditions, such as the condition that the increasing vengeance be cast from the graveyard. It's quite interesting, because the copy of the spell will also have this text written on it, but having been a reiterate cast from Ayli's hand, it certainly was not cast from a graveyard originally. Still though, pretty sick that Ayli still had fight left in her deck after Lynch went beastmode with the dragons.

I have an ur dragon deck with all the same dragons. Dragons are usually a mid-late game threat. You can have an empty board state for 5-6 turns then bam! Game over. Love it. Really enjoyed this episode.

@42:53 after Ayli casts Past in Flames and afterwards goes on to make infinite mana, she casts Seething Song as first spell on the stack, hold priority, after that casts Increasing Vengeance which will coppy the Seething Song twice, which would be a total of 15 mana (if they resolve), then she casts Reiterate as a copy of Increasing Vengeance. And here is when I think the mistake was. Couldn't infinite mana be achieved by executing the cast order in the same way but instead of allowing Reiterate to go the graveyard, pay the buyback cost of Reiterate, after the resolving it, keep priority, play it again as a copy of Vengeance and you will have infinite copies of the Reiterate due to ever-increasing mana supply. But if that can't be done (and I do think I know why: because to gain the mana from the Increasing Vengeance and the Seething Song the stack needs to resolve, and when it does you might have the Reiterate in your hand (buyback cost3) but you will no longer have the others due to the penalty of flashback that is to exile those cards from the graveyard) , that would mean that no infinite mana can be created using those specific spells due to the penalty of Flashback.

‘Scary Larry’ definitely brings the spice! Not sure how cozy you are with command zone but you should try to get Craig ‘Mr. infect’ Blanchette on there for some spicy commander games. Craig sometimes seems out of place on command zone but I think his play style would mesh great with IHYD.

I am happy that you caught the mistake. Also one thing to note is that when you had already cast the Ancient Copper Dragon and you had moved to triggers after aiming the damage triggers at Ayli and then she went back and cast few spells (36:02-38:23). If played with more official rules she would have died to your damage. I understand that you are playing with looser rules grip and I also usually let people to take back things in the game but my own rule in this is that if you are doing a game winning play or if your mistake is too far back, we don't take it back and I would personally say that this was on the side of bigger mistake because Ayli didn't first react to the cast and did let it through and only reacted to it when she was already targeted. At least she should have had some hot sauce. Either way a fun game.

I like that you actually went back and fixed the game-ending rules error. Did you shuffle up and then rebuild the game state after to fix it, or did you leave the decks as they were and then fixed it right after? Because in the second take, you revealed a Flooded Strand in the dragon deck after already discarding one (previously revealed on top) after the huge dragon turn, so I'm curious if you have two in there or it was just a mistake in rebuilding the game state

It was shot a month later. We rebuilt the board state. So the actual decks were shuffled as you said.

Its not a mistake, just a lack of optimization on lynch’s last turn. 47:47 If i remember correctly, dragon tempest checks the number of dragons as the ability resolves, so pairing that with lathliss would let you eek out a tiny bit more damage by letting lathliss’ ability resolve before the tempest.

Kudos on catching/addressing the play error. Let's be candid, it's a lot easier to "armchair quarterback" commander gameplay than it is to be the players and get every rule, interaction, or even "proper" sequencing correct. If you notice a gameplay discrepancy, i do feel it's fine to point it out (hopefully, to give the player a chance to not make that same mistake in the future). What i feel there is far too much of, is shaming, belittling, or otherwise insulting a player who makes a mistake. I've seen judges make incorrect calls, and i've seen new players correct seasoned veterans on new mechanics. This game is far too intricate and complex to expect perfection, and if content creators scrapped every video where a gameplay mistake was made, there would be a LOT less content available for our entertainment. Thank you to the IHYD players and production staff for putting in all of the time and effort it takes to release quality EDH content. < 3's 🌭

the description of Riku at the start of the game was perfect, the deck dirdles around and does nothing until late game when it just wins, I've seen that many times before. the Ur dragon is insane, all the dragon ynergy.. and that thing that ramps red mana on upkeep because mana burn use to be a thing is silly :)

Great question! Yes it does, but i used the mana during my upkeep to untap my mana vault. I understand how it can be confusing.
