I recently received a Cuisinart two burner gas griddle that I picked as an anniversary gift at work. Forty years. I have a stove with a built in griddle burner. I primarily cook, smoke and grill with a Weber Summit Charcoal Grilling Center ( Weber Kamado with table) I had picked up a Hunsacker grilling insert. Yes, nothing beats Charcoal, but I am also loving my griddle which is close to 20x 20. I ordered a cover and a carrying tote specifically for it. Convenient , fast and easy. Can’t wait to take it on the road. A little big, but I also got a Cuisinart Food Mover looks like it will be perfect for fried rice.

I have a Lodge cast iron griddle that fits perfectly on my camp stove, one side of my pellet grill, and two burners on the stove in my house. It was $25 at Costco. No need for a one trick pony.

I Do the same I bought a cast iron griddle at Walmart for about $25 as well. It fits perfectly on my 2 burner Coleman stove or I could pull one grate out of my gas grill and the same griddle in it's place or put it on the middle burner of my gas stove. Plus if I really want to go rustic I could put it right over a campfire.

@@jdj5952 So much more versatile than one of these dedicated griddles. Much more cost effective, too.

@@B_L_Smith Wow, that was a lot of wasted keystrokes to say that you don't know griddle plates can be used in your kitchen at home, on the grill outside, or on a portable camp stove, well, anywhere else. Why would anyone do your dopey experiment? It's a ridiculous premise on its face and just gets funnier the more of it you read. Edit: I didn't see the previous rant you made an hour before coming back to make another one. Holy cow. You have real problems. You need to go outside and use your portable griddle thing in the woods, far away from an internet connection. You've clearly spent way too much time in the basement, trawling KZbin. Either that or you take your purchases WAY too personally and get your feelings hurt over any criticism of them. To that I just say man up, Sally. Have a... life.

I'm the same, not a huge fan of a gas griddle. But I finally broke and going to pick up a 22" blackstone with cover. I was sold on having a cool spot as you mentioned. While waiting for the blackstone I ordered a carbon steel SNS plancha to live on one of my kettles. Should be a fun comparison.

I was disappointed in the Blackstone. I kept it a few months and sold it. It was to much maintenance with seasoning and cleaning it and I found I could use a Lodge pan or skillet on my Weber kettle with the same effect.

Agreed 💯 some things are better on a griddle and some things are still better on a true grill. Great video. Will be interesting to see how you like the weber griddle long term. I have a 22 inch blackstone at home I like and a 17 for camping that I have mixed feelings on.

I have a no deep frying policy in my house. I do all my frying or anything that’s flagrant or pungent (seafood) outside. I totally understand with keeping smells outside and not inside.

I completely agree. Even if I had a stand alone fryer, I would only use it outside.

This might not be popular, but I don’t like my house smelling like bacon all day, and in the summer I grill my bacon so as not to stink up the house.

We use a portable blackstone and a smokey joe when we camp. Best of both worlds.

The main thing with the griddle is they are very fuel consuming a propane tank does not last long for some reason

Usually it's Australia that gets the stuff we don't see here. I think the Q series would be more popular if they did.

Would you rather have a Weber Genesis or a Kamado Joe?

I think everyone should have a gas grill for the convenience. If you have the time, the KJ will give you better flavor and the ability to do low and slow cooks. The searing temp will be higher too.
