I kinda had something like this happen to me a while back. I was at my office gig and a new female employee gets transferred to my department, so my boss asks her to spend some time at my cubicle to get a first-hand look at the details of my daily routine. I had recently bought a DVD copy of "Army of Darkness" and it came with a small postcard size movie poster, which I had placed on my desk. That morning she comes over, introduces herself as Nancy, and notices the postcard. She tells me how much she likes that movie and I respond by saying that I've always been a big fan of Bruce Campbell. Literally the next words out of her mouth were that she has a boyfriend and they're living together. I remember thinking to myself, "Huh, that seemed like an odd non-sequitur," but I just let it go without commenting on it and started right up with training her on all my procedures and stuff.
