Literally same but with CDs. I have at least 3 100-disc spindles of burns, driver discs, games and software. It's funny how much more personal a CD is to someone. Most floppies have such small sizes, it's only really feasible for the essentials.

Nice collection. Have you created backups of these floppy disks? Just in case something gets lost, especially when all these are very low on size comparing to nowadays "storage size". It would be kind of time consuming (especially difficult with 5 1/4), but probably worth it, don't you think?

While many people might think 25 floppy MS office install is just a showoff. It's not it's very real back in the day I did this in 2010 when grandpa was trying to backup some proprietary bank documents from 1995 prior to his retirement. That contained very specific encrypted content which otherwise could not be opened in consumer version of MS Office.

Knew someone who used GeOS to multitask on an XT, I shit you not. He'd be online with it while it printed invoices in the background and did other stuff too. I have a fairly appalling collection of old diskettes too... unfortunately didn't keep the CP/M and similar vintage disks, sacrificed when I moved.

That ‘wear’ you’d seen on the 5 1/4” disks is pretty typical for adhesives that are this old, especially if they weren’t somewhere climate controlled. It’s funny to think that if they were made without the stickers and left to the user to apply they’d be in better shape.
@VectraQS

I have about this many, but I've thrown out this many because they just generally suck. Pro Tip: If the disk is rainbow colored or transparent, it's new enough to be absolutely terrible. Stick to the black and beige disks. Bonus points if they have metal sliders.

Beats my floppy disk collection...I've not got a quarter of that amount...but I do have the same game Doom 2 on 5 diskettes...and the original purchase receipt from Virgin megastore 12 Oct 1994 but no box...also have a drawer full of floppy drives (FDD)...some of them still read disks! My P3 Compaq has a branded drive with no faceplate to line up with the desktop front case...it's challenging to get other drives modified to fit in it...that doesn't stop me

I cannot vouch for having a childhood with floppy diskettes, I was born in 2001. I can tell everyone here though that these were pretty fragile and unreliable pieces of storage medium. Even the drives themselves tend to kick the bucket early.

Around 5:00 it was said that Windows 95 was 29 disks: Wasn't retail-version of Windows 95 21 disks? OEM versions had more disks: My PC from that era had Win95 pre-installed, but they didn't include a installation cd. They included this utility to make installation floppies + stickers for them. This utility needed 37 disks. That's 21 disks for OS and 16 disks for drivers and bloatware.
