Not long after I got my license and was old enough to drive alone (I lived in upstate NY) I was driving back from town after dark in the winter during a snowstorm that had been silently raging for a few hours before I headed home. My Dad had a big old Chrysler Town and County station wagon (that's the grandparent of the mini van kids) and it was the absolute best car for winter driving, in my opinion. The snow was over 2 feet deep in town and it was about 3 ft deep out in the boonies where we lived. On my way home the roads vanished. I couldn't use the headlights because they just blinded me hitting the snow that was coming over the hood. It was a really dry powder and tons of it was coming down in snowflakes the size of stop signs (that's a bit of an exaggeration but they were pretty big). I was maybe half way home when it stopped snowing. Good for me because the tree lined roads gave way to fields and it was going to be just about impossible to know where the road was if the snow was actively falling and the moon hadn't come out bright like it did. Sill couldn't use the headlights but I could see the ditches on both sides of the road from the dents in the moon lit snow and just stayed in the middle the whole way home. I absolutely love the memory of that ride home. Even in town before I left it was magical. The snow fall was so heavy you couldn't see the light from a street light until you got under it. And the quiet! Natural sound proofing for the world.

I really appreciate all of the details of your farming operation, and am constantly learning new things. For example, today I had to Google "stover bales" because I had never heard that term before. Farmers here in Indiana also bale the corn stalks, etc., but I didn't know that there was a specific term for them. Interesting! Thanks for keeping us entertained and educated.

Laura, another pleasant break from doing my farm stuff. I can almost hear, smell, visualize etc. everything you're doing. Doing my taxes also; but since I have the farm rented for cash rent, my filing is much more simple. I fill out paper forms myself to send in just to be obstinate. Again, great to see your smiling face and hear your voice. Missouri Farmer, Doug.

Curious the electric that comes into the property is it 3 phase I would imagine with all those big motors ask your dad but maybe you know. . I love the relationship do you have with your dad that's awesome. My father and I used to butthead when he was around and then I went in the navy for 4 years and came home substantially I'm substantially more mature than when I left. After that my father and I got along very well and then unfortunately he passed away at 69 due to complications.. The dorm doctor screwed up. Best of luck with your grandfather and pray for him every night.😀😎😁👍‼

Dad blasting along, doing cookies, THEN realizes maybe wearing a seatbelt makes sense. 😂
@64eski3 жыл бұрын
I think the only reason he put the seatbelt on is because those UTV’s only go 15 mph without a seatbelt on. Once they’re on you get full power. Safety was not his motivation IMHO.
