Too much gear is bad. It takes time to learn all the functions and limitations of each piece. That’s what helped me to realize i could never master all this gear and needed to focus on just a few key things. I also bought instruments with the intention of sampling them but they also collected dust. No idea why I have 3 mini harps. Cheap, impulse buys. I’m selling off things like that. Several different midi controllers that really just do the same thing. I just hoped the next one would be easier to learn when I spent no time actually learning midi basics.

I feel you man. For me it started with plugins. I spent way too much money my first year on plugins I never needed. I then moved onto buying gear and that got out of control also for some time. But now I've matured as an artist and have controlled the urge to get anything new unless it's absolutely necessary. I pull a few pieces of gear out at a time now for each track....sample and resample to make crazy sounds. I realized synths just make sound...one slightly diff than the other but really by how much? Thx for sharing.

Lol, oh man I can attest to that. I went from plug-ins to gear. I like what you say about synths just make sounds. But, they look sooooo cool haha
