I've put too much pressure to make my 2D mining and crafting game good, so I'm going to challenge myself to make a game in 30 days that I can publish on Steam

Making games is tough. Making money off of games (enough to break even!) is even harder. Just gotta keep driving forward! Thanks for these videos.

Sounds like a solid idea for generating a few more sources of passive income, as well as learning new skills and techniques from working on more and more projects. From one indie dev to another, Good luck!

You should see if publishes are interested. They pay you bills to get rid of the major stress of surviving, but brings a long a bunch of others. For me if I was full time I feel like I would be looking for them, but as somebody doing it mainly as a hobby with the goal of making it a business one day I would never consider it..

I don't understand, why game devs put a lot of time and effort and learning to build a game, and after publishing and getting sales, they throw all of it, assets, knowledge, etc. into the trash and start something completely different. Because of this, I don't believe that you guys are really trying to make money.

very interesting, do you have any games published?

No one throws their knowledge into the trash. Knowledge is always transferable. If you did a good job at writing well thought out modular code, you should be reusing it and sucessful developers will be doing that. Reusing assets can carry a bit of stigma if it's noticable and obvious, people leave negative Steam reviews about these sorts of things which these can kill a small developer but most developers are reusing assets in subtle ways that you might not notice.

@not_ever oh god, no you should NOT be reusing code haha oh my lord 🤣. Tell me you're an inexperienced programmer without telling me. Anyone who's been at it since the C days will tell you that code solves today's problems not tomorrow's

@@BobrLovr I'm not an inexperienced developer. Modular reusable code is the whole reason we write C libraries and have done for decades. Since the beginning of C in fact. People reuse code in every industry that uses software. Game development is not special and unique. You sound like an electrical engineer.

@@not_ever What I mean is, for example, the creator of this video, in my opinion he could create a better version of his first game. He learned a lot, has a lot of assets and reviews from users about what they want, etc. Take all of that and just create something better. Improve things, add new content etc, and build a better game and publish it. Do this every time and the 10t iteration of the game will be a mind-blowing, fully polished game! Every single time I see game devs just jump into something completely different from what they were doing before. It makes no sense. Just stick to what you know and what you have, and make it better.

You are not streaming on KZbin, which means you are losing viewers and potential income!
