A lot of you have asked to see a grocery haul. I've always been hesitant putting one up because in my mind, it's nothing compared to the grocery haul my daughter - Our Tribe of Many - does every month. Ours looks puny! But here it is - and I used a lot from that to cook this great Shrimp and Sausage Skillet. Yummy! Also - I have a question for you: "What one piece of advice would you tell your 20 year old self?"
ENJOY!!

I would tell myself. Don’t work a job you hate. Don’t complain about things you can change. Don’t wish your life away. I was always saying, I can’t wait till the kids get old, can’t wait till they move out, etc. Now I sit here and think this is what I was wishing for and it’s not as great as I thought it would be.

To my younger self I would say ‘you’ll have good & bad days. Enjoy the good but don’t beat yourself up about the bad,put it behind you, tomorrow is a new day’. Loved the grocery haul, very interesting to see the difference in prices between US & UK! We think prices have gone up here but boy yours is so much more expensive😳 much love from the Uk🇬🇧❤️

Looks DELISH Papa! I would definitely tell my younger self to change jobs if you are not happy with what you are doing. I feel it used to be frowned upon to change jobs. You were supposed to stay in one career for 30-40 years. Now I am happy to see young people moving/changing jobs so often….to find the right fit. Life is too short and we work too many hours to be unhappy in that job. Sidebar: I bet lots of your fresh veggies are from Canada! 🍁 🇨🇦 😘

I would tell my young self to slow down and get to really know and fellowship with the Lord. I knew about Him - I had gone to church all my life. But it wasn’t until I was older that I had a relationship with Him. What a huge difference it has made to genuinely have a relationship and learn to trust Him!

I would say to my younger self, write down everything you loved about your friends and family and things you felt were important to you at the time so that they can be cherished by others later on . Never take for granted having your family near you. Now I would do anything to be near my sisters again. They live very far from me and I only see them once a year due to long distance. It is very hard. I miss them so much. When I was a kid I used to always say, "I just can't wait til I grow up and can be on my own." I wish I could tell my younger self to stop wishing that. Because now I say, "I wish I was a kid again so I could be home with my sisters."

Being the same age as you both i shop daily also ,i love a small family grocery store and you could see the quality of the fresh produce,i loved the jars of home made produce as well , i would tell my younger self not to sweat the small stuff, take more chances , my husband was a very hard worker and his c ompany used to do a lot of interstate work, so we always said that we wouldn't be apart for more than 2 weeks, so i would fly to whichever state in australia he was working for t h e weekend and i think that helped a lot as we have been martied nearly 50 years, loved the recipe t oday the freshness of all the colours y o u just know it tastes great, i also love the chat that comes with the cooking , i love the personal touch i feel like i know you both,🤗👌

I so very much appreciated your talk today and can relate. I turned 50 this year and feel like its been an extremely heavy year emotionally. I have struggled with myself and thoughts and feelings more this year than any other. I had a major surgery after being very sick and septic and lost my dad so I'm not sure if that's why. I have in the last few weeks really relished the moments when I could laugh as it makes me feel lighter. That was a great video. I’m 75. I’m alone now as I’ve mentioned before. I have thought so many times I wish I could talk to my Grandpa, and Grandma more. I had interviewed my Grandma many many years ago. I wrote everything down. But we had moved after the interview and I lost the whole interview. I know my Grandpa became an orphan at 11 years old. He and his brothers lived through the 1906 Earthquake in SF. My Grandma is from a pioneer family that settled in Quincy California. I found out some from ancestry. My younger self would have talked even to my parents more about their young lives. Your supper looked delicious. I do make similar stir fry but I love this combination of the shrimp and sausage. Reminded me of a shrimp boil, especially with the Old Bay seasoning. I’m going to make it. Thank you

Great recipe--I watch you both for your joyfulness. My younger self was afraid to let people down, so I worked extra shifts, went to parties I didn't want to be at, avoided people I found incredibly hard to talk to, and I faked a lot of smiles. But some of my closest friends and family let me down and then I realized that it's better to let people down than to blow yourself up. I feel more peaceful now.

Hi Nana and Papa! I love going to produce and meat markets. When I lived in NJ, they had them all over the place and the products were so much better than the big stores. I like your little grocery hauls. 🥰When Papa was talking about being raised right and by good parents, not all kids turn out the way you want them to and I'm sure you know that. I have 4 grown children and one of them acts like she was raised by a pack of wild wolves. All of the others have wonderful jobs, beautiful homes and are great parents, but my oldest, OH Lord. 🤦‍♀I keep asking myself what I did wrong, but I raised all of them the same. I make a dish similar to what Papa is making and it is so good.

Ultimately people make their own choices and LIVE by their own choices. Even when we raise them differently - it's still up to them! Hardest thing in the world to live thru and see - - because you know they're going to be in for a rough time and there is nothing you can do about it. We covered this in our book - and it was a difficult principle to write about

I would tell my younger self to say I love you more often to my family, and to show them. Also, I would tell myself to take the pictures. I was always very self-conscious, being a big girl, and always hated having my picture taken, whether with family or friends. This was driven home to me this past year, when I lost both of my brothers, one to a chronic illness, and one very suddenly, unexpectedly, and tragically. As my sister and I went through family pictures for the funeral, I realized there were NO pictures of me with my brothers. And this is my biggest regret..

I married my husband when we both were 20 years old. He was in church work as a youth pastor by the time we were 23. He was a senior pastor for 20 more years after that. I think I was not a great choice for a pastor’s wife. (Neither or us came from churched families otherwise I would have known better) I think I would have made a career choice for myself separate from his. I think I would have been more content in the day to day living. Now at 65 years old, I don’t want anything to do with the business of church. I want Jesus, I have had enough of that business. I would tell my 20 year old self it is okay to pursue something other than what I was told I should do. I would have found my way to serve others and serve God and maybe not felt trapped in that particular model.

I love your haul of just real food and no junk. I favor skillet meals and sheet pan meals. So, I would tell my younger self she should not have gotten married so young. That dish you made looks delish as does all your cooking!
