My daughter developed circular patches at around 8. We aggressively treated it for years(shots, creams, steroids) with everything the dr could throw at it. When she turned 12 every single hair on her body fell out. So traumatic for her & the family., especially at that age. That was almost 20 years ago, the hair never grew back. Today she is a beautiful, confident accomplished woman with 2 beautiful kids. 😍. I really worked hard to teach her that you just keep moving forward with what you have. Wishing you well on your continued journey.

Yes, life does throw curve balls. I remember 10 year ago joining all these blogs and youtube channels being obsessed with growing long natural hair. I was also buying all these hair products until I saw your videos, but then I would think to myself that I should not be too attached to hair because what if I lost it to something like cancer, and sure enough, I was diagnosed with breast ca 10 years later and had to undergo chemo and lost all my hair. I am glad I eventually stopped obsessing over my hair I wear a lot of wigs too. Now I have to focus on what's really important and that is my health and living....Sorry for you hair loss, I really enjoyed, and still do enjoy watching your videos over the years.

Seeing how tight her ponytails were in the beginning of the video hurt me. My cousin has alopecia. She got it from wearing too many wigs. I miss wearing wigs but I do understand why some women wear them or cut their hair off. Maybe someone they're really close to has cancer. I love those videos I cry too. I also learned that their hair fell out so they just cut it all off. I saw this video in my newsfeed and she looks amazing 😍

I don’t want this to come off as rude and diminutive but I’m so glad it’s just alopecia. Of course, I can’t imagine the stress you went through following your discovery and I applaud you for being able to achieve true peace with your life moving forward. I was concerned the matter was life-threatening. A woman posted a comment on your previous video explaining her experience with family members going through chemo and you hearted the comment. I was very concerned you had received a cancer diagnosis and did not want to tell us because you did not want to upset us. I actually lost a little sleep last night thinking about your pain and praying for your safety. I’m so happy you’re okay and I’ll continue to keep you in my prayers and my subscription list. 90 percent of my hair fell out 11 years ago (2011). It was due to stress. So, I can relate. My mother cried and so did I. But God had a plan for me. He had me to go totally natural. It was an adjustment because I had to learn to take care of my 4c hair. He showed me what products to use along with styling. December 2013, my cousin installed my Sisterlocks. I'm now 8 years into my journey and my locks is past mid-back in length. People are intrigued and ask me questions. But praise be to the Most High! Stay encouraged Sista.

@@SistaWithRealHair thank you for mentioning about the quality of synthetic hair you used to purchase. There are a lot of women having this happen to them and I do notice some common threads. That synth hair (weave, wigs, braiding hair). May not TOTALLY be the case for you but i have noticed some common things. Plus, the usage of these products now a days that are just full of chemicals. Those of us who were natural almost 20 years ago were always taught to stay away from the chemicals. I was looking up more info about a chemical that is used in many products we all have everyday which is very harmful and found that this agent, VOC's, are also in wigs. (sigh). Alopecia is the devil. My mother has it too from years of stress, health issues, and I constantly worry about her and as well for my hair too. I lost the hair around my edges from anemia deficiency and it's slowly but surely still trying to come back even after being natural for five years. You can't always tell someone "It's just hair," because you never know how a person may feel in this point of time. Hair is a part of our identity. I had covid Februar -March 2020. It was before it was known that covid could cause hair loss. As I took out my braids so did the hair in my hand. It started to grow back a little after a few weeks then it came out even more and that time I had bald patches. Turns out I was severely anemic. I did have some clumps left then one day I really asked myself why was I holding on to this little bit of hair. It wasn't serving any purpose because I was wearing wigs. I finally shaved it all off and it was a relief, now I wear wigs and wraps. I can't ever wear my hair in a short buzz cut because there are bald patches all over my head. It's an adjustment, even after I did it I still was not psychologically ready. It's been exactly a year and I'm honestly ok with it. Stay strong

Me too guys. I have both issues and my hubby shaved my hair last summer. I have thinning edges, CCCA which is another form of alopecia, and anemia. I went to the dermatologist and what made it worse was MOST of us lack Vitamin D3. We need that in our system to stop the shedding. Along with zinc. So right now im taking Pumpkin seed oil supplments to stop the inflamation under the scalp for the CCCA, Vitamin D3 to stop the shedding, and now im waiting for my Saw Palmetto in the mail which is the natural form instead of taking minoxidil (thats in rogaine). Peace and blessings daughters of Israel💞

I'm 39 and my hair is thinning. I cut my hair short and I wear wigs. My hair looks like Frederick Douglass underneath. I take care of it the best I can. I have gray hair and I can't cover it because my scalp is super sensitive. When I wore my hair out my coworker said you have gray hair, oh my goodness you have gray hair. Everyone else makes a big deal about it, but when I see other people with gray hair I don't make comments about it. I'm just grateful to have hair. I'm natural and have no plans to straighten my hair. So far I like doing my own hair because I'm gentle with my hair. It sheds daily and large clumps fall on my weekly wash days. I'm okay with my wigs and my natural hair 🤷🏾‍♀️it just is what it is.

I’ve followed you for quite a few years now and I’m so very sorry to see you’re having to go thru this. I too have suffered from alopecia areata ( in remission 8 years) that lasted a total of 10 years. Fortunately I found a board certified dermatologist here in the ATL and she apparently knew exactly how to treat my condition with Kenalog injections (steroid) along with topical steroids and whatever bald spots I had at that time, the hair would grow back within a few mos. Again I endured this condition for at least 10 years. As a sidenote, my dermatologist was also African American, which I personally believe was a factor in my Dr knowing how to treat my condition. I’m not saying this to be biased but I did see a Caucasian Dr first who prescribed an ointment that inflamed my scalp. I appreciate your transparency & vulnerability in posting this video. I truly hope you find the help you need and that you recover from this condition. I wish you the Best. ❤️❤️❤️

@ T A and Sabrina Sims, The Dermatologist name is Dr Windell Davis Boutee, unfortunately Dr Boutee is no longer in practice and if you google her name, you’ll find out that she is now known as the “Dancing Dr ( you’ve got to cut it). She was a great dermatologist but went from practicing dermatology to performing cosmetic surgeries specifically BBL’s & lipo which she wasn’t licensed for or should I say properly trained for ( in Georgia it seems Dr’s can perform cosmetic surgery outside the scope of their license) and ultimately she ended up disfiguring patients & one of her patients even ended up with brain damage. This is why I provided the “treatment “ versus her name initially.

Just wanted to say that you’re so brave and beautiful lady with or without hair. I went through a similar experience with inflammatory, itching my scalp for 4 years after dying it. I regret dying my hair should have left it grey. Also sulphur 8 hair pomade caused further irritation resulting in alopecia. However have faith in God and pray for your hair to grow back like I did. The dermatologist consultant told me that I would go completely bald. I started to believe her because it started in the middle of my scalp. Thanks be to God, my hair has grown back but only slightly bald in the middle. I will pray for you. Keep the scalp clean and don’t put any product on your scalp because you could have blocked the hair follicles, have regular saunas but cool the scalp with cold water afterwards, this is important. Just wandering if the grape seed oil or the rice water had any fungus or bacteria growing in it which could have attacked your hair follicles? Do not put anymore product near your scalp because it need to breath. Wearing a wig is going to cause further scalp issues. I used to wear wigs for years before my scalp problems surfaced. I suffered with extreme dandruff because I didn’t wash my hair often, due to tangled hair and shrinkage problems of 4c type hair. Basically I didn’t care my scalp or keep it hydrated or clean, just kept on wearing my wig, so this caused some of the problems but the dye ruined my scalp and stopped my hair from growing because it grew quite fast under the wig. The above information is just advice and to let you know what I had to experience. However, eat your greens this is what a Chinese herbal doctor told me to do and try not to worry too much about your hair, even though it’s hard to do. I do have sympathy for you but you need to focus on your health and not KZbin, because hair can react to stress and the more you worry about it the more it misbehaves, so to speak. The day you forget about it and concentrate on some thing else is the time it may start to grow back, this is what has happened to me but it took 4 years because beforehand I was taking biotin, and other hair vitamins which caused more problems, like inflammation as a result I am now allergic to every products that I put on my scalp, except for water; so I gave it cold sprayed water and it started to grow. Hair Products and oils or pomades blocked my scalp and caused allergies. I had a skin test and it showed that I have got a allergy to a chemical called Eugenol. Please forget about KZbin and your hair until the stressful events have calmed down. Hair reacts badly to stress. Hopefully you and any other KZbinrs can benefit from some of my experiences which is personal to me.

We have come to learn that it was triggered by hormonal and immune response.

Thank God I have instilled confidence in her because it’s not a big deal to her. We made a drastic diet change and see a dermatologist who specializes in hair loss who prescribed a topical jak inhibitor. She went from about 70-80% loss to having a mini fro within a year. Healing it starts from within for some. Good luck on your journey and you are amazing!

I was in my late 20's when I was diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium and Seborrheic Dermititis however even after being cleared by my dermatologist I still continued and continue to have major hair loss. It's now to the point where parts of my hair that were once very thick even a year ago are so thin that all I can feel is my scalp! It's been a nightmare and I've felt so alone but seeing this video gives me hope! I still don't know what the final diagnosis for me will be but I pray that whatever it is, I'm able to have the strength to get through it just as you have shown us! Much love to you girl and I'm looking forward to the next video!❤️

TY for being so brave & honest 🤗. I have Alopecia too & have been wearing a bald head for over 15 yrs 🥲. I am not my hair & no woman should feel less than Beautiful, be embarrassed about something they can't control - an autoimmune disease. Take care of yourself 🙏🏽 because although there's no cure, stress can make things worse.

I totally feel you, I have struggled with alopecia areata at least 6 times in my life it is soul crushing. In my particular case I finally discovered that I have chronic inflammation which manifests as graves disease which can cause alopecia. Working on healing the inflammation is resulting in healthier follicles thàt can once again produce robust strands of hair. I realize everyone's situation is different tho and that the most important thing is to be able to be at peace with oneself despite whatever our hair is doing. You are brave and strong! 🖤

I am so sorry about your hair loss. I've been dealing with hair loss around my edges for about 7 years right after my brother passed. I think it was due to stress. I am NOT giving up but will also except whatever God gives me. It seems like my edges are not as thin as it used to be. I am starting to take 6 to 8 collagen pills a day(this one everyday), vitamins, iron(folate), foligrowth, foli-tonic, drinking more water. Also I get my hair treated and trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks. If it sheds too much before my next appointment, I do a protein treatment. It feels heavier and looks thicker. Just praying that it'll completely thicken up in front. Also there's a youtuber by the name of black hair and skin care that has hair products that helped her hair grow back from alopecia. She has many success stories. I do use some of products sometimes. Whoever needs to hear this accept where your at but don't give up. Fight whatever your going through from the INSIDE OUT. Be consistent. I sometimes pack my pills in my purse just in case I forget to take it before I leave the house. I used to have super thick hair and hopefully if its God's will I will get most of that back. Love y'all! Keep fighting!

I have followed you for years. You're so awesome. I was just diagnosed as well from stress. GOD has you and I love your truth and ability to be real and the strength to let go because I realize through my own journey our hair does not define us. Hats off to you.

1. I've missed you. 2. No one should ever be disappointed, only proud. It takes courage to be on a public platform and stand in your truth. You were always beautiful inside and now, it's just now that beauty gets to radiate differently. Thank you for your honesty, thank you for your truth, thank you for the lesson then and for all the lessons that come with your story. Your vulnerability is something to be truly admired. Keep taking care of you, I'll always keep rooting for you. You are a gem. Sending so much love. So happy to see you again on here doin your thang. Looking forward to learning more from you. xoxo

I feel you sis!!! This avatar represented my hair. 2020 my hair started breaking off as if I was taking chemo. I did a big chop March 2020. It grew back fast!! Crazy thing is that as quickly as it grew...it was still coming out even if i touched it , I wld have hair in my hand. Showering left a lot of hair. On the shower walks etc. Went to determalogist. Internal dr. My dr. Blood work. Nada. Still coming out. This past Mon...I cut it again. I'm over it. I think I have a "friend that's happy cuz she slways wld make comments about how long & beautiful it was!!! She literally laughed when I told her my problem.

Have you ditched that "friend" yet? I hope you heal and overcome whatever is affecting you. Your hair loss must be traumatic, but it has shown you how horrible your "friend" is. You deserve so much better. You cut off your hair. I'd cut off the "friend" too.
