Im a cosmetic chemist, working for a beauty brand currently and have previously worked for five others, and just wanted to comment on the glossy lip liner idea. The reason why glossy lip liners aren’t really a thing is two-fold: the first being the lasting power. A gloss physically cannot last as long as a matte product. The basic chemistry doesn’t allow for that (matte can’t have much slip in order to cling to skin and gloss has to have slip to reflect light). The second is the fact that outlining lips with a glossy product means you are working with a product that (also due to basic chemistry) will travel- it won’t stay put. So you’ll end up with gloss above the lip line, which tends to look messy. Basically, glossy liners are glossy lip crayons.

I love these reviews bc it’s the difference between “yeah, it’s ok - you might love it” and “you shouldn’t have to live without this” is really discerning and worth its weight in gold. I don’t want to spend my money on products that don’t blow me away (she says as she switches out the three SF lip oils for the OH ones) 😘
@doha42589 ай бұрын
about the tower 28 lip softies, it would appear that one of their main ingredients is shea butter! shea butter melts easily at body temp and crystallises into gritty bits as it cools back down. you need to keep them out of the sun and out of your palm or pocket.... which is EXTREMELY high maintenance. to fix it you can try disrupting the cooling process (squishing the tube while it cools) or placing in the fridge/freezer after its melted down to cool it quickly.

@FinnySpam22 күн бұрын
@@parkedawn my skin hates shea butter. and coconut oil. most natural oil/fat based products like that make me break out like a bish! im all for more synthetic/"unclean" (blegh to that term tho) ingredients bc of it haha silicones and glycerin and petroleum jelly based products are my faves for moisture in hair and skin! vanicream and cerave creams the thick ones in the pump jars has been my go to moisturizer for a couple years now, the only ones that dont make me break out like a bitch while also moisturizing my skin enough and also soaking right in and they don't leave a greasy feel even if i put several layers on.
@FinnySpam22 күн бұрын
altho if anyone has any recommendations for something even more moisturizing than vanicream and the cerave heavy cream, pls let me know!! i dont like having to take the time to put several layers of moisturizer on multiple times a day in the winter. my skin doesn't do the oil thing, like at all. i sweat a ton but like. its like the kind that just evaporates to cool you down and dries your skin out if you leave it there too long, not the oily kind. if i do the "finger swipe test" wher eyou wash your face witha gentle face wash, then no other skin care and swipe a clean finger on certain spots on your face and see how much oil comes off, i don't get any visible oil on my figner til around the 16 hour mark, and only on my chin right under my lip and under where my glasses sit. otherwise to get oil on my finger without moisturizing i need to wait like a full 24 hours. my cheeks never becoem visibly oily to the naked eye tho, even after like a week of depresso bed time.

I am shook to find out that some eye creams aren’t for the entire eye area! I always use mine on my eyelid, up to my brow, on my under eye and the outer eye! I’m going to have to look more into that! I wonder if that’s part of the reason my eyelids are getting more textured!
@shendisackett9 ай бұрын
I just had major surgery so my skincare has been super basic for a few weeks. My eyelids were also getting a weird texture, not using eye cream has made them look better. In future I'll stick to the brow area and under the eye, I'm 45 so I thought I needed it, especially as a makeup artist ages ago said I had dry skin there, I really don't think I do, perhaps it was a bad day!

6:55 About the tenth concealer: for me personally, this is the best concealer I’ve used probably ever? My skin is super pale, super dry, and super sensitive. Never had I encountered a concealer too white for me (which is amazing in its own right) but I also find it stupidly difficult to find one that just matches my skin tone enough to wear alone without a full base overtop. I have two colors of this and wear them EVERYTIME I do my makeup. The coverage is great for my under eyes and cheeks and basically anywhere, not amazing coverage for spot concealing though. It’s so thin and light so it doesn’t irritate my skin after a long day of wear. The finish is so smooth and seamless without being drying or crackling or clinging! I usually just set with a translucent powder and setting spray before I go out and it wears great for what I need 👍 solid 9/10 from me. Just somethings to consider for the other sensitive girlies

I saw someone say that the kosas BB burst feels like lip balm on the face! I was intrigued up until that lol. My dry skin might love it but it sounds like a nightmare! 😅
@emilyw8429 ай бұрын
I love the new Kosas BB burst. I'm 62 with good, normal skin. I tried it over clean, prepped skin using my fingers. It was ok. I tried it over clean prepped skin and my favorite warm weather sunscreen Paula's Choice Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 using a damp sponge and it is AMAZING. It covers my broken capillaries on my cheeks, smooths and perfects my skin, is buildable yet does not look like a face of makeup. I set with a light loose powder, UD allnighter in translucent. This does not get oily on my t-zone, doesn't dry out my cheeks or around mouth which can be an issue after all day wear. It says nice looking and doesn't wear off my nose, which happens with just about any other foundation. I use an oil free but not a gel moisturizer underneath. I think gels or water gel-creams would be good underneath this. I think it would be great over a primer too. I hated the previous Kosas shimmery thing and also hated the spf she mentioned. I recommend trying this. Get a sample from Sephora and try it a few ways. Definitely worked the best using a damp sponge regardless of the products underneath.

Hi commenters, can someone tell me what are reasonable expectations of lip oils? Are u meant to get a long lasting colour stain once theyve absorbed in or are they meant to stay glossy until it wears down over a couple of hours? Or is it supposed to be a longer lasting, more nurishing alternative to gloss? Or like an overnight lip mask but with colour? Im not sure what it should be doing to know what is good or not?! I cant see how anyone can be satisfied with 'mediocre' at more than $20. I need to LOVE it if it's got that price tag.

It’s soooo sweet and almost candy like. I’m literally obsessed my only con is that it’s not really potent or long lasting but my goodness the scent is to die for
