If you saw the reroute and you still don't think this is a deliberate act to sabotage this guy's business, then you're part of the problem. You can't blame Igbos for complaining when the optics is this bad. How are you going to via off the original route, move closer to the sea front(absolutely nonsense), destroy businesses and parks(revenues), then build the road a couple of km and come back again to tie to original route??? That's the most stupid design i ever seen if the design they showed on tv is correct. It's a sabotage to that guy's business and the reason has nothing to do with efficiency or economics.

While this is a great initiative, I doubt its possibility. Not that it is not possible to do, but they won't do it. 96% of Nigerian politicians don't mean well for their regions and think less about impacting the lives of their people. They are only there for their families, friends, associates and most importantly to satisfy their insatiable and greedy thirst of looting the state and/or nation's resources.

When you don't have manufacturing companies in Nigeria because of poor power supply what would you do with your recycled materials. Why not ship or sale it to countries that have the resources to utilise the recycled materials. Come to the UK and tones of waste being shipped abroad. The ignorant majority in this comment section. What are the facts - 1. Landmark never has right of access to the beach where all tourists and merry goers chill out. 2. Lagos cannot grant of access to any coastline to anybody. That is the domain of the federal government. 3. Only the federal government has right of access to any coastline anywhere in Nigeria from the edge of the sea up to 250 meters inland. 4. Landmark annexed the land where the coastal way ought to pass. They knew this so they began a disinformation campaign to get what they never had. 5. Landmark fill the public space with misinformation in order to steer public sympathy in their favour so they get access to what they never had. They even try play the tribal card. 6. The minister of works has said their business premises is not within the path of the coastal high way. The government even intend to reduce the width of the coastal high way to accommodate him. 7. The problem could have been solved behind closed door but for reason best know to landmark he created a media storm to make himself the victim of some kind of conspiracy.

This happens in the developed world too. When a government exercises this right, the next question is whether or not the land owner is adequately compensated. This of course is provided that the land was developed legally. I feel for the owner because a lot of sweat would have gone into the project over the years but for you to make this a tribal issue without evidence is reckless. I hope you realize that no one has been prevented from developing, as you call it, the Eastern region. If you believe a resort that most Nigerians have never and will never visit to be more of a development than a 700km interstate highway that would enhance travel and trade, then you're on your own.

Y’all want Nigeria to be great all your rich investors only serve the ultra minority ( all their investments are never benefiting the masses) and yet when the government is taking on the initiative to build the nation y’all be crying. The only sad part for me is that government will still sell off all the great projects to an individual investors like Mr Landmark that will immediately turn it to an ultra benefiting the very few again rather than following the Government footsteps to make it benefit everyone. @@kunleajetunmobi1561. Transportation of goods is a poor arguement. The road is trying to connect port cities. But what goods will be transported between cities that can get raw materials from the seaports. Each of these cities is a potentail industrial and financial hub in its own right. Where there is a real need for roads is between the coastal areas in the south and the hinterland areas where there is agricultural and mineral produce that the coast needs . If you really want to improve the economy, try to stimulate exchage between thes two areas.

@@dahrayyem2648 i agree 100%, and it’s really sad, but if someone were trying to transport cocoa from Ondo to another state for processing, or if i were buying cocoa from multiple farmers to export eventually, they’ll have to transport it by road. goods will always be transported from place to place. i hate this project as much as anyone else, but a good highway could prevent loss of goods, and reduce the cost of transport.
