I agree MiDaS is better for people and LeReS is better for rooms. In the little testing I did with LeReS, I found it did rooms really well (Required me to adjust the scale of depth a little -- for my needs).

I was able to run LeRes a few times but now I can no longer successfully run in it. It keeps getting output errors on the Run network cell. No output folder gets created. Any tips?

no, not really. I think it may be coming from the particular image you are using (color space is not what leres expects, maybe. safe bet is 8 bit deep 3 channel rgb image without transparency channel. Maybe image is too big. I haven't used this thing in a while so I don't really know for sure. I would look at the error message and try to decipher it.

Thanks Ugo, It appears that Photoshop, in it's newest release has made significant progress with regards to quality of depth maps, kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3TTYaeQn9p7rdU. Also, the calculations now happen on the local machine. Although I understand that you may have reasons for preferring not to use Photoshop yourself, my guess is that for many who are interested in depth maps, and their use it remains an interesting question how the extremely easy to use, full size depth maps from Photoshop compares to what you can get out of Google Colab projects. So, if you are interested in having Photoshop generated depth maps in some of your comparisons, I would be happy to provide them. Perhaps depth maps of images from this video could be a starting point, if you are interested?
