I bought a mahindra 1626 last year. I love it but don't really love those payments. If you buy a tractor, do not buy one with def. Everyone newer than 2012 over 30 hp has it. Mahindra has some kind of filtration on motors over 30hp that they don't need it, but that complicates the diesel. I want as simple of diesel as possible. Good luck with mower.

Here in TN you can find running tractors with bushhogs for 2-5k in workable shape. If your dead set on a loader and hate fixing equipment you might do better to buy a newer one, or rent one every so often until you get the money for one. Shalom

I have a 53 jubilee, my most prized possession implements are affordable. However, afront loader would be awesome at the mill.

A small tractor will only make you want a bigger one. I have 2 regrets on buying a tractor. One is I wish I had bought it 25 years earlier and two, I wish I had gotten a bigger one. I now have 3 kubotas a 25hp with rear tiller, a 32hp with 72 inch belly mower, and a 49 hp with a bucket loader. Get a 4x4 tractor, you want regret it. For anyone contemplating a homestead, farming, or a country lifestyle get the land, establish a living place and get as big of a 4x4 tractor with loader as possible. Look on marketplace for used equipment. I know your frustrations, I started with a Sears garden tractor 🥴

@@TheRevoltingMan Thank you ( yes I had to look it up lol )but actually experience is the best teacher and I’m still in the school of hard knocks, I don’t like having to depend on others, I’ll keep trying and learning till I die. Good luck with your tractor decision. Unless you’re using a tractor in business you probably want put 50-60 hours a year on it, that’s been my experience. If you find something with less than a thousand hours,in good condition that starts easily, don’t worry, mechanic’s I’ve spoken with say the smaller engines (50 or so Hp and less) are good for around 4K hours if maintained properly. If you get a new one and take care of it, it’ll last a lifetime. Problems arise when you try to do to much with too small of a machine, I speak from experience 🤪. Personally I wouldn’t buy a newer one that requires the use of DEF fluid. On another note I have a 01 ford with 7.3 diesel I don’t plan to part with and hope my boys can haul my dead ass to my final resting place in it. You want regret a good tractor or truck. Utube has all kinds of videos on how to repair almost anything. Saved me a ton of money.

Anything but John f***ing deere, I would go with Kubota if I could afford it, its like the toyota of tractors.

Yep. I have two Deere riding mowers that are just garbage and are hard to get parts for.
@roybatty50284 ай бұрын
Get an old riding mower that is pretty large. Can get one pretty cheap. I mow my field with an old snapper that is constantly being repaired because it gets beat to death. You can even get a small trailer to pull behind it for firewood.

NEVER BUY OFF BRAND TRACTORS! They are the Most expensive tractor you will ever buy!!!. Stay with the mainstream brands. Try to find a clean New holland tc30. Or a 3930 series Ford/ New holland tractor. Any of the older farm utility type tractors with a live PTO. Kabota is a good name in small tractors. But know that the small compact tractors are very expensive compared to used farm sized utility tractors. Best Wishes from Montana! M.H.

“It ain’t got no gas in it” Id say what’s your time worth? The amount of time you spend repairing the one tool could be spent on other things with a mowed pasture. Then you’d have plenty of time for other projects and work on that other equipment whenever you feel like it.

Maybe take a second wife that already owns a tractor? Seriously, does Harbor Freight have an engine that would be an easy replacement for the Gravely engine? I've got a couple of Harbor Freight engines and am impressed by them.
