I have Makita and Bosch tools both some over 10yrs old still going strong. I have had Milwaukee tools. Brought a 2 piece combo hammer drill driver and impact. Drill failed within 30 mins and needed to be repaired and has failed 5 times since and is rarely used. Impact driver has been repaired 2 times. Both brought in 2019 so now out of warranty Makita 0 repairs in 10 yrs and bosch 2 repairs on over 100 tools over 10 yrs My mates a plumber and uses Milwaukee and brought a 8 piece combo and every tools has been repaired or replaced in the first 12 months. The grinder has been replaced 3 times so far so take what you want from that

Good investment in power tools is knowing your stuff. I've had DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita. Mainly the big brands for my every day whips. I've never had a tool fail on me yet (Maybe because i don't use them enough). All the tool brands have 1 rule and that's register the tool as soon as you get it to extend the warranty to 3 year's. It's a shame that your 3/8 ratchet kept breaking like that. I used to invest in single brands over the years and recently have started to change my thought's. I now just go with what review's rank a particular tool in question & go from there, then i make it a rule to ask people as well as look on youtube. I don't buy on impulse as i have been disappointing so many times because i did no do my homework.

I’ve had Makita kit since 2008. The firm (Fork Truck Service Dept) bought into it to save having to do PAT testing on 110v gear. We had a drill, an 4 1/2” angle grinder and a blower. They were a revelation tbh, and took some real abuse as well, customers just expect the job done. I probably used and abused the angle grinder most, and I remember several times cycling through charging the 2 (3ah) batteries in succession, to get a job done. I had 2 batteries fail on me in 6 years, which I thought was OK, considering. When I moved on from that job I got to keep some of the kit, and added some of my own…impact guns, recip saw, die grinder, torches & some of the 12v stuff to handle getting into awkward places on fork trucks. I’ve never had the ratchet, that does seem bad but can you claim on warranty? I’m still using an air ratchet that’s about 20 years old and of course the head should be pretty indestructible because you use it manually first to crack off a fastener. Haven’t used Milwaukee much but you hear good & bad about all platforms anyway. Also the youngsters tend to be fanboys of their power tools just the same as their phone, so who knows!

@ I wonder if Makita are aware of the problem? If so they might fix it. The blower…had a habit of breaking in half if you dropped it…especially from up a fork truck mast! 😂 I repaired mine but it wasn’t ideal. When I left the firm I left that behind and bought my own, and they’d modified it so it was far less likely to break. To be fair I don’t think they imagined it being used about 5m off the ground and dropped! 😂😂😂

Watch some milwaukee and makita repair video's from Dean Doherty Greaser here on KZbin. In short: big power, very inovative for usability/user experience. Breaks fast. Bad waranty in Europe, no 5 year like in America.(That is why the Americans are so enthousiastic about them) Very bad repairabillty so they are bad on right to repair. I'm a fan of using them if they are not mine. I'm not a fan of owning them myself. Makita have a great diffrence in durability with all their different models. The white drill you have seems to be a old hobby+ grade drill. Think you did good on the Milwaukee ratchet, impactwrenches from them are also great. But dunno if i would take the Milwaukee drill over a Professional grade Makita one. The Makita rachet is just one of the bad luck things every company has. Like Milwaukee have their greaseguns. They break within a year even when only used twice. Anything on AliExpress is better or the same buildquallity. Wach some videos. @landcruiserscotland Yes I have. I had all Milwaukee tools from gen 3 and I sold every one of them and bought Hikoki instead. The quality of Milwaukees gen 4, which was released in 2022, plummeted from the Gen 3. Over the past few years theyve been cheaping out on parts, but still charging the same price for lower quality. My colleague had his brand new impact driver fail the same week he bought it. You cant fix these tools when they break, they are designed to be difficult and expensive to fix. You can't just buy the part that breaks, you have to buy the whole assembly of parts. Milwaukee are no longer the brand they once were, they are gone downhill and living off their old reputation. Hikoki is just the new name for Hitachi power tools. I had heard great things about them and did my research before I bought them and now Im glad I did. Theyre such nice, ergonomic and high quality and theyre very easy to fix if anything does go wrong. Milwaukee are overpriced rubbish and they're starting to be found out by their customers. Nowadays they care more about advertising than actually making good tools.
@adamwolf2376
@adamwolf2376 Ай бұрын
@@landcruiserscotlandMilwaukee quality has fallen off a cliff in the last 3 years. The tools are just cheaply made, plain and simple. Cheap Chinese bearing, non epoxied control boards, and batteries dying out faster than usual are all too common with Milwaukee. They look cool, but internally they are abysmal. And if any of those internal parts fail and you want to repair them. You're forced to buy a whole assembly of different parts all together, which most if the time ends up costing as much as the tool itself. If any single part of a Makita tool breaks, you can order in that individual part and fix it. Also, when sending back a broken Milwaukee tool for a warranty repair, they will just replace it with a new one regardless of the fault, they don't care about which components fail. Makita will actually open it up and repair it, Makita then keep track of which parts of which models are the most common to fail, they then go back and improve those parts, always improving. I can guarantee that after some time, the part of the wrench that keeps breaking on you will be reviews and improved by Makita. Just something to think about Dean Doherty has a great channel all about repairing power tools. He has all the tools imaginable coming through his workshop day in and day out. He has the clear opinion that Milwaukee are just not up to scratch, he's reluctant to take them in for repairs because they're mostly just a waste of time.

@@landcruiserscotland Snap-on power tools are too expensive to compete against Milwaukee (cost/capability). Don't get me wrong, the Snap-On stuff is great but for the cost of a 3/8 power ratchet wrench you can get almost a full set up of Milwaukee.

@@landcruiserscotlandsnap on if you have a tool truck coming to you is good mostly due to the fact that if it needs repaired they’re right there. No week+ waiting time for a repair kit, that being said the snap on power tools are the best BUT not by much, it’s not drastic to the point you’ll absolutely hands down toss everything but snap on, but you will have an advantage if you use these day in and day out all day.

So for me they're probably excessive because I'm not doing tool work every day or even every week. I'm just an IT guy with a car hobby.

Ivonly used a kit all my working life from aprntashio till now I agree the ratchts are dog shite I will say got to dogu website for all ya Makita needs i got a protective boot for my Makita impact and it tooke months to find some where tat do one . I not a wakee fan as it's same as DeWalt cheap rammed down ya throat and firm the lazy house bashers tend to use . Saying this they dos. Compact impact 12v with hitting power of a 18v and the wratchet is ace even the new one for tight access . BUT this is the problem battery interchange if they made all tools take Makita battery's. Happy days I slowly have some red wall stuff and integrate but end of day I'm a Makita man
