This is so real for her and many other women of that era who committed the sin of being over 40. Sad and unfair!

Wow! The Star seems to be a far, far better film that most people give it credit for.
@jackanthony9767 жыл бұрын
You are right. The Star is quite a film as it is the story of so many Hollywood actresses. Bette Davis had just lost her contract at Warners and she was having trouble getting good scripts by this time. But the Star is a good story and is one of Bette's most under appreciated films. Only the ending of the film is a let down as Bette runs into the arms of Sterling Hayden to live happy ever after...a bit too cliché.

@@Garsons-oq4lh 🔴Including The Star. All great movies. The Star might not be as dramatic but it pulls back the facade of Hollywood, fame, and aging as is applies to everyday living. Fame and fortune are fleeting and in the end- it doesn't fulfill or comfort you. MAY SOUND CLICHE BUT LOVE AND FAMILY Will.

Maybe you'd be more fresh and Dewey if you smoke less than 3 packs a day
@jackanthony9767 жыл бұрын
Fresh and dewey becomes a bore quite quickly. Hollywood executives cast actress who are in their wet dreams, not necessarily actresses who can command a movie screen. Most fresh and dewey actresses put me to sleep unless they've got something other than fresh and dewey to offer. Give me and actress who has lived life and withered the storms of life..now that is an interesting actress.

✔3 packs a day? I'd bet it was closer to five! I loved Bette Davis but her smoking was something to behold. You never saw her Not smoking. Her lungs must of been blacker than coal.😲 Why people do that to themselves is beyond me. You have to have AIR to breathe, to live, and smoking takes it away.😔 She truly suffered at the end of her life for all that smoking. RIP Bette Davis.
