It is getting chilly outside! I'm saying goodbye to my flowers, airing out sweaters, and preparing for the frost. Hope you enjoy this cozy day at home. I'm still learning how to film and edit, so if you see a shaky camera it's because I'm still learning :) Today I’m excited to share with you a bit of history, and my recent efforts in making cyanotypes.

My favorite time of year is upon us. Ever since I was a child, this time of year has always been so magical for me. I spent the entire year looking forward to Autumn. There is nothing better than the air getting colder, the leaves turning bright oranges, yellows, and reds. The time of harvest and preparing for the winter, the smells of people baking and cooking delicious, hearty meals to fill the soul. All of the holidays that bring people together. This was delightful! Fall is the coziest season. Art is such a favourite thing of mine. I am not an artist, but I am in love with it. I recently bought a basic how to art kit at a place called Micheals and I looked at all the things, the brushes, different paints, pencils, and read the how to book. I was very artistic as a child, I drew, painted mostly with oil, and I remember that I loved how it made me feel. I am hoping to get that beautiful living in the moment feeling back. I do not understand Spanish but it sounded absolutely beautiful. And you are so right about the tendency to romanticize the past. I am guilty of it myself. I think that one of the most important things living in this modern age is learning how to use technology to benefit you, not hold you back. We can romanticize the lifestyles of those who lived before us, but I must say that I am so grateful for the internet and for cameras so that I can share in the beauty of other people's lives. At the same time, I am also aware that the internet can be a nefarious, negative, and dangerous place. But it really depends on how we use the tools available to us. Beautiful! Thanks for the link to your cyanotype site. In 2018 I was visiting my son in Manhattan and went to the New York Public Library one afternoon to sit and work and wonder and they were showing an Anna Atkins blueprint exhibition. Dear Paola! I don't usually leave a comment, but I want to thank you for your wonderful content. When I am at home on our little farm, your videos are a lovely source of inspiration and I feel like you are a dear friend. When (as right now) I am in my dorm in the city, your videos are one of the most essential tools to keep my sanity. I am a highly sensitive person and have been living in quiet areas close to nature all my life. Having to spend the majority of my year in the city in order to pursue my studies (interpreting and translation, which I am very passionate about) has been very stressful. Your videos remind me of my home far away (which is bittersweet), but you also always show how I can make the most of my current situation by living more slowly and mindfully, and by implementing creative activities into my day. My DIL longs to have lived in Tudor England or the Victorian era, overlooking the fact (among others) that her beloved youngest son, who spent a month in NICU, would not have survived his birth in those days. I already enjoyed a wonderful, relaxed morning, but it was additionally most relaxing to watch your lovely video. Your cyanotypes turned out so beautiful. And your thoughts about history make sense as well. Romantisation is one sided. People tend to forget the hard work (my grandmother could tell alone about the process to wash clothes without wash machines), the long and tough work in careless companies, the wars, the lack of medication against common illnesses and so much more, not to mention those horrible conflicts you described. Our modern challenge is - under many - to find our paths in life, to appreciate the valuable now, enjoy art and craft, take care and responsibility for our environment and to not jump on every "in"-thing or surface nonsense of society, but go more back to integrity, find our own way of living, self-value, self-respect and stop giving mobiles, apps and online-life so much power about our valuable life-time. This liberty to be not reachable 24h and to not post every single fart - paradise. I very much appreciate your videos. For such a young woman, you already reached so many remarkable mature thoughts and can be absolutely proud of yourself. Not to mention the true art of your video making. Paola, that was absolutely beautiful! I love the cyanotypes and realise I have seen them and wondered how they were made. I recently watched a movie about Charles Darwin so your video really took me to a bygone era, although I agree- we are so fortunate to live here, now. I am in Australia, so it's warming up ... and I had a day in the yard removing an old DIY chicken coop to make way for plants. Hot work indeed. As our seasons are opposite I find your videos warm me up or cool me down as I need... and of course I really understand the threat of fire in summer. When I am boiling, I will stare at your snowy videos in amazement. Please keep speaking Spanish in your videos; I can't understand it but I don't care. It is just so lovely to listen to another language.

A return to a simpler time. Beautiful pictures. I love the fall with the smell of Pumpkin spice candles filling the air. Pumpkin pie baking in the oven. The sound of leaves rustling. The smell of wood burning outside, with a slight chill to the air. Beautiful leaves of red, orange, and gold, clothe the trees, and then blanket the ground as the leaves fall. I took a little "break" from KZbin to spend enjoying one of my daughters, who flew home from Mystic CT for a week....So I am just now catching up!
