Those steps explain to me why so many Jewish emigrees that i encountered here in Los Angeles and elsewhere survived, rebuilt what they could of their lives in this new environment. You had to have hope for a future as well as endurance to survive those conditions and environment. They may have suffered traumas they never let be public but they still possessed hope and endurance. I've seen all the Holocaust stuff since the 60s when people thought little of it, as if it never happened. This is a wonderful addition. Nicole gave her wonderful voice to the story.

I literally watched this entire film with tears flowing down my face. Such an emotional roller coaster. I was born 3 years after the war. Had relatives who fought in the war and yet my parents who came from Russian parents and were first generation Americans never spoke of the horrors. I honestly, till this very day do not know how anyone can bottle it all up inside their minds.

We should never forget what happened during the war years and even before when Adolf Hitler came to power. There are not many survivors left now and as long as those that deny the Holocaust say it did not happen, these films are all that is left. I’ve watched many accounts of those in charge of these camps and many escaped justice, even if they were charged and jailed by the allies, their sentences were commuted and they were able to live their lives freely. We can never forget. We MUST NOT FORGET!

I had neighbors who were great friends that survived the camps. I cant forget the day one wonan called me into her room because she couldnt get up. She apoligized but she said, her body was racked with pain. She was a teenager when she was held in Auschwitz. She showed me her tattoos. She had been so starved in the camp, that when she became older, she had this extreme pain from the damage done to her body then. Haunted by her experience. I think she said she was 14 when she was freed by the troops. I know she lost family members. As sad as it was to see and hear, I treasure the memory. Right now, with a tear. Where is Simon now when we need him!? How easy it is to forget where charismatic hate can lead! The devil can live in all of us if we stop and listen to him. The devil can somehow make brutality make sense!

A remarkable man, I met him in 1977 at a conference he gave at McGill University in Montreal, Canadá. An example for humanity and the jewish people, he brought the Nazis war criminals to justice, never favored or approved wild murders of Nazis by his own people. At the conference more than 50 survivors of the holocaust identified Nazis commandants of several Concentración Camps, he took note and brought most of them to justice in a short period of time. So different from war criminal Netanyahu, Sharon, Begin, Rabin and Shamir terrible terrorists. I was honored by having met and spoken to him, he shared with me his visión of justice. I will never forget him.

And yet I hear so many holocaust survivors and descendants of survivors saying how they are against Israel and Zionism. Considering the mass murder that is being committed in Gaza and the West Bank, the terrible irony of your sentiments is startling.

@@carolinethomas6562 your so called "mass murder" is 100% the fault of HAMAS & IRAN and NO ONE ELSE. It is HAMAS the chooses to use INNOCENT PEOPLE, INCLUDING CHILDREN as HUMAN SHEILDS. It is HAMAS that chooses to use HOSPITALS & SCHOOLS as military sites to hide weapons & launch their attacks on Israel. So please spare us all of your DISHONESTY & LIES about the "mass murder" of innocent people, who BTW in recent polls overwhelming SUPPORT HAMAS in the BARBARIC actions they have perpetrated on the Israeli people. And BTW it has been shown that ISRAEL has done more than ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD involved in a war, to protect innocent lives from harm. SO LEARN THE FACTS!!!!

You should blame the terrorists who started the war by a g e n o c i d a l attack on civilians in Israel, even Arabs, Nepalese, Thais and others.
