The main way to tell an F350 2wd from an F250 2wd is the spare tire location. F250 had a 133" wheelbase with the spare under the bed and the F350 had a 140" wheelbase with the spare in the passenger bedside.

I've been at the boneyard 6 days this past month, to do 3 things: Get another carrier and pinion setup, get another block, and another rotating assembly for my '92 Ranger. The carrier and pinion is to put 3.55 rear gears back into a Ford 8.8. The block is a 2.3l Lima 4-cylinder that I'm in the process of building, as I'm putting a rotating assembly from a '98-'01 2.5l into the '94 block. Once that is successful, then I'm going to be changing the MAF sensor to be bigger (read more air flow), and both the fuel injectors and fuel pressure regulator, to go from the stock 40 psi, to the '98-'01 60 psi. With these changes, I'm estimating a power increase from the stock 100 horses to 150 horses. It may not seem like much, but my little Serenity (that be her name) needs all the help she can get. After that, then I'm moving on to deal with a metric butt-ton of body rust -- which will probably mean looking for a better cab and box. After that, looking to paint the truck a dark Navy Blue on the bottom, a red stripe on the body line, and either a Gun-Metal Gray, or a Dark Silver on the top of the body. Glad to see I'm not the only one who's been out in the yard this year, lol.

In high school my friends & I spent many hours a week in our local & neighboring towns junkyards ! It was great we had maybe 10 junkyards within a 30 mile radius 😆 If we knew back then what we know now we would've taken every 60's- 70's muscle car molding, trim pieces and emblems $$$$$ Back then those places were still loaded with Camaro's SS & Z28'S ,Chevelle SS,GTO'S,you name it....talk about junk yard gold 😉 Part of the junkyard experience is knowing what you are looking at.... and you guys have that covered in spades ! Great video... thank you for the trip back in time.... even though the cars and trucks may have changed the experience of the hunt is still there ! Good luck and have some fun.... my junkyard hunting brothers ✌😎

More exciting than a Aussie Junkyard, ours are full of Jap/Euro/Korean cars, dead GMH Commodores with blown V6s and Ford Falcons with the Barra in-line 6 with the body that has falling apart around it. We did get the Ford Explorer in the 90s, I actually used the 3.73 diff from one in a 1967 Mustang (1000s of used 65 to 70 mustangs have been imported here in the last 30 years)

Wow, the original Ecology in Chula Vista. The first time I went to that yard was in 1981. Me and my friends have scored a lot of rare parts from that yard but left SD years ago. The hill looks the same but the cars are a lot different! I scored two hood scoops from a 70 340 dart my first trip there. One guy scored a 69 428 CJ for 150 bucks there. Thanks for the memory flashback!

guys I walk through junkyards and lots of time, something a shame to be crushed is there, there is a guy up around alberta, who saves 40s, 50s, 60s cars from the crusher, he bought 3 kaisers and a frazier, so to have parts, at metal costs, he finished the frazier's interior got all mechanicals fixed and road recertified, he has saved many unknown classics from the crusher and got some of them running after arrival, others sit and wait, and my fave is the 59 biscayne he got as daily driver round the yard, the man is renaissance in body, engine, electrical, Coldwarmotors

It wouldn't split your block unless you put it up over 600hp without adding any of the braces they make for a 302. If you ran it turboed at 450 you'd be fine.. but at that point, why not just run a big block or a Cleveland? (or that 351/400M you found.. same thing) You know, the oddest part about everyone saying that that happens is that there's not one video or article about it anywhere showing that it actually happens.

You can check Ford boards and find lists of diff ratio codes. It's on the bottom of the door sticker I think Explorer/Ranger 90s are D4 for 3.73 and D5 for 4.10(letter plus number means Trac Loc diff). Sorry, you won't find any 3.08s in Ranger/Explorers. Probably Mustand or Crown Vic to get those gears. Some stripper Ranger or Explorer1s have 3.55 ratio(46 code, no Trac Loc)

You didn't seem impressed by the Ford Courier, I had a new 77 model, burnt valves 5 times during 12,00 mile warranty. when it went out of warrant I changed out the intake and exhaust because Ford adapted the Mazda carbs and tiny exhaust to the 2.3. After that I put over 200,00 miles on it. After that I adapted a 71 351 cleveland into it with a 4-sp. looked stock but was one hell of a sleeper
