Hi, my people! I know I prob should have just kept it to remembering fallen troops but wanted to use the day as an opportunity to thank the vets for their service as well

What a lovely idea to react to songs that honor our Vets! To all our veterans...thank you for your service!

Would be cool to see you go through an entire album. The Doors went through a wild rollercoaster of sounds and emotions during Jim's separate struggles with alcohol and drugs. This entire album has this trippy sound. My personal favorite album is "L.A. Woman".

@HIM_066xMusicReactions there is a lot to unpack with this group. Some landmines too not gonna lie. Most song are from 1968-69 after all. But there are some truly unique, astonishing music in between

Welcome to the wondrous, mystical, magical, dark calliope music that is The Doors. I was 14 when I bought this, my first Doors album at a head/record shop in Ann Arbor while staying with my big sister during Little Siblings' Weekend in 1982. The smell of incense was strong with an undertone of weed smoke. I've been a fan ever since seeing them on an old Ed Sullivan show in 1981. I remember before seeing them perform and I was hooked! Their music prior to that made me feel uneasy, out of place, the haunting sounds from Ray on the keyboards. An amazing band with four fabulous musicians...and a superb poet, Jim. Thanks for the reaction!

Jim Morrison was a genius had the voice and the members of the group were amazing, one of my favorite groups.

The beginning of rock theater right here. Jim would be 'shot' on stage during this song. Classic tune.

I was born in 1978, after the Vietnam War had ended. I had the pleasure of being a golf friend to a Vietnam veteran that saw the Doors preform live in California before he shipped out.

They're generally a theatrical kind of band, especially their 11 minute numbers. "When the Music's Over" is a really wild song. "Spanish Caravan," "The Soft Parade," "The End," "Five To One." But not all of their songs fit this bill. Their biggest hit "LIght My Fire" is a 7 minute sonic jam.

They simulate an execution platoon in the middle of the song. In your right ear you listen to Robby’s Gibson guitar while in your left one, Ray’s Gibson G101 organ with sustain and the pitch-bend.

For those of us who grew up musically in the 1960’s, this was the creativity we were blessed with. By the Doors and many other groups. What followed in later decades musically unfortunately paled by comparison. That is why listeners are so astounded by first-hearing experiences.
