the hardest part about learning pikmin is learning micromanaging. When you're new you end up keeping your pikmin close to you because you don't want to lose them. but the key to pikmin is to multitask, set pikmin to carry a few objects, maybe some to work on a wall or bridge, and then move on to focus on something else. so long as you kill all the enemies nearby you should be fine

You don't ACTUALLY have to be at your camp at sundown. You just have to have all your pikmin at camp or with you, and you're automatically taken to your camp at sundown. Any Pikmin not at camp or with you is left behind.

Maybe you figured this out, but you don't actually have to get back to the base by sunset. You just need to make sure that all Pikmin are either in your party or near the base (basically within the circle formed by the onions and the Dolphin). Olimar can be on the opposite side of the map when the countdown ends and you'll be fine.

It can be overwritten by boss logs, Pikmin tutorial logs, Olimar mourning a huge loss for the first time, or (hilariously) the eight logs on the Emperor Bulblax. That's right, if you somehow did not lose a single Pikmin to fire until the Final Trial, one burns in the fire geysers, but you got to the Emperor Bulblax before the day was over, Olimar will start explaining the final boss instead of doing the fire tutorial. Technically, even minibosses like the Goolix have logs that can pre-empt the fire, water, or bomb safety tutorials, but there's no fire in the Impact Site or Forest of Hope to even receive that tutorial in those locations.

Fun fact, for the original game cube release, if you throw a pikmin with a bomb, then whistle them, they'll drop the bomb, making them perfect to kill if you throw two bombs next to an enemy, whistle, and flee in terror

Can the enemies _swallow_ dropped bombs, though? That would be really helpful against the Emperor Bulblax, but I don't think the bombs function that way in Pikmin 1. I don't know if enemies can swallow dropped bombs in _any_ Pikmin game. Either a Pikmin has to be swallowed while holding the bomb, or the Pikmin throws the bomb, or the Pikmin sets the bomb down and it explodes on its own; but I don't think a Pikmin can set the bomb down, and _then_ the enemy ends up swallowing it. The tongue just passes right through, and it's as if the Pikmin just threw the bomb rock.

@@prayagsuthar9856 yes actually, normal enemies like bulborbs can eat bombs, however they usually have to be attached to the pikmin. However, the Emperor Bulblax has a special animation of his tongue hitting hit face, doing more damage and stunning him for longer if he eats a dropped bomb vs a bomb held by a yellow. It's a safe strategy to limit pikmin loss and have a quick cycle against it

Your Pikmin don't have to drown when you're walking narrow spaces, you have to use the C-Stick to maneuver them. You can also use it to swarm enemies to kill them faster instead of throwing one by one. Fun to watch someone play this game blind though, I've been replaying this game constantly since 2002 when I was 7 so its cool to see someone discovering things about the game I haven't thought about in ages.

maybe this is my nostalgia as p3 was my first pikmin game (that i actually played myself, id watched 1 and 2 before), but I don't even think any pikmin fans think 3 is BAD, just rushed and untapped potential. its actually one of my favorites mechanics and bosses wise, the fruit collecting is very satisfying and it just has a lot of quality of life improvements. the bosses are some of the most memorable for me. plus i still think its the best looking game in the series, over 4 honestly. there's lots of things to love about it besides it being sort of a baby game, but thats fixed in deluxe with ultra-spicy mode.
