A more beautiful, positive life is just a small shift in mindset away, and Thorfinn from Vinland Saga proves this.
"I have no enemies" is probably the best anime scene of all time.
A scene that convinced so many people not to go down a "Villain arc", a scene that helped so many people see the world more positively, a scene that I will ALWAYS remember.
In this video, we see how Thorfinn's new philosophy can help us all, as Vinland Saga motivates us all to become a better person, one who has no enemies.
PLEASE check out the incredible man behind the music in this video: / @alekseychistilin

I have failed to understand the essence of the quote. Or maybe I have understood it, but I don't like the meaning. But if I say that, I would think of myself to be behaving rather arrogant and ignorant. Maybe because of my bold and harsh claim that I don't like the meaning (I think that is offensive) or maybe I'm missing something, something really important that others have figured out. I try to not appear sarcastic or rude but those are my genuine reactions. I suppose I'm seemingly failing to convey my opinions. I'm really confused if the quote is correct. Or am I? Maybe I'm rather confused regarding what my problem really is. This quote must mean something but after pondering about it for a good 10 minutes I still can't figure out the value of the quote. For it to be truly correct in every way, it has to stand true for every person it has been aimed at (for me at least). But at whom is the quote targeted? Times change and so do the people. The political conditions differ, the philosophical conflicts differ (not all) and the viewpoints of people differ. So does the quote still hold value? Some old traits of us humans remain the same and some new knowledge is added to human wisdom with time. So maybe it still does provide you with some insight depending on one's circumstances and understanding of moral values. But does a quote really have to provide me with some philosophical or ethical solution to hold value? Does it have to be correct for me for it to hold any value for me? That depends on my definition of correct which may be borrowed from the dictionary I read in highschool or the one that I came up with and polished it over time. It can be some bits of both put together piece by piece. Maybe it does not have to be correct. All the artifacts from older times provide insight to people seeking knowledge related to the past. Just like those artifacts maybe this quote provides some insight, some kind of a solution to those seeking a solution to their problems. Also it may well be a source of inspiration and motivation to great many. I assume I'm confused because I accept none of those aspects. Or maybe because it's only aspects that I accept contradict my own views. There may be many more aspects than the ones that I cited. Perhaps this statement of his wasn't meant to be a ‘correct’ quote. Perhaps it was just a personal opinion of his towards vengeance in general (I may well be missing much more aspects and possibilities here but I'm just trying to ‘connect the dots’ in a hurry).

Hi there, I’d just like to ask how you would define masculinity and femininity in your view. I see Similar comments encouraging that traits like the ones you have mentioned, and they are good things to learn and aspire to have, but how are they exactly tied to masculinity. People encourage these qualities in women as well, are they figures of masculinity now? Or do people just flip the label and say they’re motherly/feminine. It’s just when I see these comments that herald qualities that ideally everyone should have as “true masculinity” , I can’t help but think that it’s like a zodiac sign, where the descriptions of the signs have these watered down and inoffensive personality traits that can really be applied to anyone. I could a bit more but the main thing is that I want to know what you think since it’s clear that you do believe in masculinity as a framework, so there’s probably something you’re seeing that I’m not.

Real vikings were not dumb pacifist hippies. The story has turned into a bad cartoon of the vikings because the author chose the worse medium to shove in japanese pacifistic ideals into the viewer's throats. In the end, if Thorfinn and Thors were not as ridiculously overpowered as to not needing weapons to fight, they would have been dead meat long ago. Thorfinn and his people would have gotten enslaved and massacred if it wasn't for dumb plot convenience and illogical characterization. Real people in the Dark Ages could not afford not to be violent or even not to look for it. If people went out to pillage, conquer and raid each other, it was because it was because it prevented them from starving and being ravaged first.

There are people who absolutely enjoy inflicting pain and misery, and no amount of talk is going to change that for them. That said, this should absolutely be the way to approach people, including yourself, going forward. There are exceptions, but there's a lot of hatred that happens outside of those exceptions. Jesus Himself said that the two most important things to follow as a Christian is to love the Lord God with all your heart, strength, and mind; as well as to love your neighbor as yourself. To Thorfinn, every strike against another person is no different from a blow to himself, driving him back down into the Valhalla. Knowing that I have no enemies means that even the one who harmed me so much, myself, is not my enemy. Ali ibn Abi Talib once said -- " *Give your enemy a thousand chances to become your friend, but don’t give your friend a single chance to become your enemy* ." In a world where u r always told U gotta be on your toes every single second , u gotta grind very hard because every passing moment someone else is passing u.....being better than u ..... taking the spot u want . Although , i think this mindset can be used in a beneficial way BUT the problem is that fire goes away after a while......but guilt of loosing motivation yet again stays for a long long time. in this world something like this is needed....that calm is needed. in army u don't really see body builder looking dude getting in most of the time it's the out of shapes ones.....the little guys with the mindset . We need to reevaluate what is success ? Is working for a life where the main driving force is the collection of luxury cars, rolex , gucci really worth it ? Is it gonna matter in your death bed ? im not saying u shouldn't ever want those things ...... infact i would love to won one those fancy cars one day.....just don't make it your only goal . Working with the goal of helping others is much more lasting than any materialistic goal . We all will die one day.....maybe today....maybe tomorrow who truly knows ? Who's life is worth looking up to "the rich and successful guy who made sure everyone knew how rich he was , how many B**ches he had dying in hotel sweet looking hospital room ' or ' the old minimum wage earing man dying in rented apartment holding his wifes or kids hands who couldn't help much with his money but helped as much as he could and was kind and giving to everyone around him" ? Social media has made ppl believe only the top 1% does something for the world and have happiness the other 99% are nothing but hollow shells. But, if we actually look at TOP 1% / THE RICH / THE FAMOUSE / THE POWERFUL of the society they r basically the reason the world has so many crisis . So be the top 1% who r truly satisfied with what they have in life kinda ppl (that doesn't mean u shouldn't be getting better everyday , just don't always be on the fight mode) and try to pull the others in that group because " You Have No Enemies, my friend"

I really respect the awareness that sometimes there will be people who resolve things with violence first, and that you'll have to defend yourself. It's important not to be naive about the ideal of "having no enemies" in the real world, as there are many who don't think that way. That, however, does not mean you should act like them, and also to not get bummed out about it if you do act violently. There are many potholes on your road to be a man of peace, ready to protect himself and others, so it's almost a guarantee you'll trip over one of them (I'm no stranger to this either). Give yourself some credit over how far you've come :)

The most important line imo was when Thorfin said "I will run". Thorfinn was ashamed of his ancestors when he was a kid and later he realized. A passive outlook of "I have no enemies" needed an equal escape like "I will run" to deal with the unreasonable people. You can not always draw your dagger to protect yourself when the other party will listen to no reason.

I stumbled across your channel in what I call my healing arc, but it's harder than it sounds. My only parent is bringing out the worst in me, and I view it as a definite, if not crucial, part of my healing and training arc -in reference to Hinata's training video. I tried having the approach of "I have no enemies" with this parent, but it is very dehumanizing until I remembered vividly Thorfin telling Canute if he didn't stop the violence, he would simply run away. I am being deliberately pressured to make them an enemy, I can't be kind. I choose to run away. Sorry for trauma dumping, your videos have been how I process life recently. love

The smallest change takes the biggest effort, because we need to overcome our own worst enemy - our ego that we have nurtured for so long. Even when our resolve gets shaken up we need to stand strong cuz we know - no matter how small it may look it would be another step toward chaos within.

"Just as bird and feather. Separate but together. Each perspective in view, I am me I am you." We are all one and the same. Because each and every living thing you see has consciousness and because of this fact. Doing good unto others in turn a good act upon yourself. Any bad thought you have about another person is just as much in turn a bad thought about yourself because we all have the darker shadow sides of humanity within us. We shouldn't shun our own true nature but instead foster it and give it grace and forgiveness and only then can you truly heal from your past traumas, become stronger mentally, and truly understand what it means to love unconditionally. This has been a spiritual journey i've been going through way before watching Vinland Saga and watching it now after having gone through my own "I have no enemies" arc I can truly say that it's so vindicating and reaffirming to every thought i've been having through out this year it's almost uncanny the similarities between my journey and Thorfinn's. I'm truly humbled to live in an age such as this one with the privilege's that I have. But the world still hasn't changed nearly enough. I believe ignoring our spiritual side (True spirituality and not the organized religious crap) is what is causing so much suffering and pain within people. Just know that God, the Universe, Consciousness or whatever you want to call it. It's what you are. We are all the universe, god, and we are all the same. Be kind to one another and yourself. That is all.

Have been waiting for a KZbin channel to make "Lessons From Anime" for YEARS. For years I've sat down with a pad & pen to take note of what these great stories teach. And now there are videos to do so? I commend you 🙏🏾 Just 2 questions: - Is there a way to post the thumbnails/titles without giving away spoilers? - Can we do the transformation of eren jaeger next after the final episode? Would love a full breakdown on what the outside world can do to a human's psychological state.

If we fight against other people winning only results in damage for the other party. We dont win anything by that. But if we fight for our dreams and against ourselves we can win and so can everyone else. But for that we need to be competent. Even Thorfinn not wanting to be violent needs his strength to be able to not attack. Only Thorfinn could act like that and not Einar and we wouldnt respect him for not resorting to violence because he cant. Be strong and competent so you dont need to fight against others. Your own fight is hard enough.

Just awesome. I recently watched Vinland Saga because I discovered its Dub in my language and fell in love. More than I thought. I don't even remember the last time I was so into something. :D This mixture of real history and fiction is magnicifient. And as a victim of mobbing for quite some time I can really understand Thorfinns struggle. I love being kind and helpful. But the hate for my mobbers who put me through a disgusting decade in my life will not easily go away. With the "You have no enemies" concept I see a way to change that someday.

This lesson is something I'm still learning. When I was younger I always thought I had enemies, I held grudges and small things like that. But like boys normally are those grudges eventually wash away and u become homies again. There were some battles and gripes that didn't need to take place, and when I finally entered highschool I realised why I always hated things. I decided to become more passive, avoid toxicity, and spend my time improving myself. This was honestly the best point in my life and people could see it. But I think that drive for revenge always stays with you. I remember watching Vinland Saga and reading the manga when it first came out and *spoiler* when Askeladd died, I was building up with rage, every time I saw this man I was angry. Angry that Thorfinn couldn't get his lick back, angry that this man could walk around after ruining this homies life, and angry that Thorfinn didn't get his revenge and closure. He's honestly still my number one most hated villain. But the lesson taught through this story goes to show that motivating yourself through a drive to surpass somebody else or 'get your lick back' isn't healthy. Which is why most of the time I just choose to avoid conflicts. Sometimes I slip up but all in all the times where I focus on myself have been the best moments. It's the reason I quit using social media. You do you. It's more than enough
