Hey there Milo! First things first: congrats on your big life changes. They're so scary but so worth it. Betting on ourselves and doing what we actually love is so important. Secondly, it was so refreshing to come across someone in this space that wasn't beholden to the gender binary nature of the outdoor/EDC industries. It's beautiful to see that space including space for everyone, and I look forward to seeing what you're able to create for it!

What I want when it comes to product reviews *and* product design, is a mass de-"tactical-izing" of gear. The dumbest possible color for a flashlight you might drop in brush in the dark, is black -- and so many flashlights are, for some dumb reason, black, like we're all ninjas or something, lying in wait, and don't want to be too...shiny. I would prefer to see gear be marketed "to-purpose" in a unisex fashion (market different sizes, not to gender - some dudebros have small hands); I don't want any assumptions about my lifestyle or me "imagining how this thing I own will impact my sense of identity" to enter the picture, other than, perhaps, to indicate that I am practical. Also I want buy-once, cry-once gear that is heirloom quality. I know this is an old video but congratulations on pursuing your masters and passing what is now 1.5k subscribers. The algorithm brought me here, incidentally. I subscribe to other gear review channels.

I really appreciate your comment here, on all fronts. I take your feedback to heart when it comes to designing “for purpose” and I think that’s a lovely way to phrase it. As you shared, I think there’s a demand to revisit the existing standards for staple products and review why we have been making things that way when they’re not always working. My goal is to address that key concept in my future designs. Thanks for taking the time to share that lovely comment.

I always make my coffee with half a half, every morning it's a ritual I grind coffee beans and add them to my Aeropress and press out a perfect cup of coffee. I add half and half. Joy. Not today I'm out of half an half so I used milk. Still taste good but not the same. For some reason it reminded me of you and your journey, and how you, midstream, determined that you're not going the way you wanted and you affected a change. I hope all is well. I was hoping for an update video. A video that's not necessarily a gear review but more of a Milo review. I am looking forward to seeing it. Peace. Be safe. Your Friend, Tim

The reason I love and have stuck around for your videos is that you have a refreshing voice that breaks the echo chambers of both the industry and the online discourse surrounding it. I have enjoyed your videos as an aficionado of outdoor gear myself. I think it scratches a part of inner gadget nerd. One thing I have to say about this video is - that your delivery of a message straight to the lens is superb! I don't know if you have any prompting going on, but I can't tell - so it doesn't matter! Very few people can do that. That is me speaking from over 3 decades of experience making corporate communications and commercials. There are a lot of executives who think they can do this, because they talk to large groups. Then they look into a dead eye of a lens and just freeze. You did one continuous take, and it was heartfelt and genuine and awesome! I don't care how many times you did other takes to get here, this is a keeper. You are very talented and earnest, that must have come through in your applications. Hence the positive response. You will do great in whatever you put you mind to. Of this I have no doubt at all. Good luck!
