Yes...For some reason, Disney decided to address genocide in a remake about Sleeping Beauty. They couldn't make a diverse original movie on future Earth. They couldn't make an original fairy-tale based in the Middle-East (NOT ALADDIN, I was disappointed with that movie) with a white villain. They had to be "veryyyyyyy magical" so all the big hunchos and the assholes didn't get offended. Seriously though, this movie was so obvious I didn't even bother to watch it because I knew some genocidal crap was about to be pulled, even it it was on the backstage. @elsie87575 жыл бұрын
It's credited by many as being the kickstarter of the live-action remake trend, though
@AnnoyingMystery5 жыл бұрын
remakes and spinoffs are different. remakes are shot by shot recreations of movies / creations that existed in the past, and a ton of the live action remakes are such a downgrade from the animated originals, but the maleficent movies are special because theyre not live action remakes, theyre SPINOFFS. they tell a completely different story from the original animated movie of sleeping beauty. THATS what we need to do more if we want to do more live action disney stuff, SPINOFFS and RETELLINGS (example: why queen ursula hated king triton so much - ive heard theories that they are somehow related - or how the pridelands worked and thrived long before mufasa was king + how taka (scar) got his scar) not stupid bland remakes.

The only good thing about that Beauty and the Beast Christmas midquel and failed TV pilot repurposed into a direct to video movie is that they sell off the idea that Belle spend months in Beast's castle which make her befriending the Beast, and the Beast improving his behaviour and attitude towards her and both subsequently falling in love with each other less abrupt.

So...how far is the castle from the village then? Because Belle, Maurice, and then an angry mob led by Gaston keep going between the two.

It also makes you wonder though why no one ever wondered where Belle was that whole time. Maurice comes in, says Belle was taken by a beast, then Gaston can't find Belle anywhere and has to wait apparently months for her to come back so he can put his plan in motion. And he never put two and two together...? Hm, I was told she was kidnapped and she's been gone for months, no one's seen her anywhere, might be related...
