Originally T2 had a prologue that had Future John at the time displacement tech...starts with Kyle Reese going in and then one of his commandos moves forward to destroy the tech - John stops them and says 'not yet'. Because Skynet has sent two Terminators back in time to different times. John then goes to re-program one of the T-800's and send that back then they blow the whole place up and win the war. This new film is just crapping all over the true story and it sux.

Cosmic Sammy My rational is that 1) The early skynet models were weaker and susceptible to convention weaponry, seeing as how it would take a little while for SkyNet to advance beyond the limitations of the technology they inherited. And 2) energy weapons hadn’t become a available yet to the resistance and only a few SkyNet machines had them as well. We see that one giant one with lasers but that’s it. And yeah, they definitely did the whole cyborg thing better.

God yes! That is still one of my all time favorite shows! Also I dont mean to get into this, but just to put it out there, this movie was clearly going for the female empowerment angle and it along with the bad plot in general failed. Which is so dumb cause SCC actually had 2 females as not only 2 of the 3 lead actors but also were both the protectors while John mostly didnt do anything (which obviously makes sense since he was still a teenager trying to leave kind of normally). Likewise, Skynet was always built based on advanced future tech salvaged from the original T-800. What occurs or changes in the past will not unmake the future a la Back to the Future. There was some serious themes of predestination in the first movie. The sequels make the closed timeline much trickier to work around.

No, they were trying to DESTROY the franchise and what it stood for. *Terminator* and *Aliens* are two franchise that prove that big-budget actions films CAN succeed with a powerful, female-lead without denigrating their natural-femininity and maternal-instincts. Both Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor embraced and glorified their womanhood in the very face of terror and destruction and yet still managed to rip-ass more than all the males in those franchises combined. It wasn't a "weakness." It was a STRENGTH. I mean, who didn't jump out of their chair when Ripley came out in that freight-loader and yelled at the Queen Alien.... "Get away from her you _BITCH!"_ ...or in *T2* when Sarah Connor is trying to back up the T-1000 close to the molten-steel pit and she kept blasting him with that shotgun? Both characters were afraid, but they did what needed to be done to protect their child (yeah I know Newt wasn't Ripley's daughter, but she was around the same age Ripley's actual-daughter was the last time she saw her alive and Newt imprinted on her under the circumstances.) That's what true courage is. Not acting as though you have no fear, but admitting that you *do* have fear but doing what must be done anyway. Whenever you hear this nonsense of so-called woman-empowerment in entertainment how there is a "void" or "lacking" in the industry of strong, female-leads people always point at the *Terminator* and *Aliens* franchises and say not so fast. So in order to keep this anti-male, anti-matriarchal, anti-patriarchal, anti-feminine agenda going, Hollywood is going to try and "erase" those examples and re-tell the story. We can't have a white-male hero anymore. We can't even have a black male-hero anymore (they could have easily gone in a different direction by making Danny Dyson the new hope for the future resistance since he obviously has knowledge of SKYNET being the son and Miles Bennett-Dyson. That would have worked IMO.) Nope, it's got to be a 5'1" latina-female. She doesn't have any flaws. We don't know anything about her personally. There is no character-growth at all. She just flips a switch and all of a sudden she's a bad-ass barking orders and ready to fight a enemy she knows absolutely NOTHING about. Hmm, sound a lot like Rey doesn't she? My biggest issue with this movie was the reasoning for why Legion even sent the Rev9 back in the first place....there isn’t one Skynet didn’t time travel to kill John before he was born and while he was a kid simply bc he was the leader. They did it bc The Resistance was winning/had won. The time travel had a purpose...the machines were pushed to the brink. By contrast, what’s the reason Legion uses time travel?? By all accounts The Resistance of Grace’s future was getting their asses handed to them.

So I'll guess you don't listen to the Slashfilm podcast. Their most recent episode was on Terminator Dark Fate. I agree with Devindra, the death of Edward Furlong's John Connor was a fantasy fulfilled to all the haters of Edward. As for who made the decision to go this route with Dark Fate? James Cameron may have come with the idea. But director Tim Miller insisted on killing John Connor as he really had no purpose with Skynet destroyed. Also,his death was the reason Sarah Connor stayed fighting vs retiring.

What interesting ideas if any are in Dark Fate? The very thing that is making people avoid this sequel is an interesting idea. A Terminator sent from the future completes it's mission. Now what? What does a Terminator do now that it doesn't have a target to pursue? What the movie shows can be more comedy than serious. But the concept was an interesting idea that never really was explored before in previous sequels. The John Connor scene is worth seeing just to see how good the de-aging is with Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong. It's even better than what Marvel Studios has attempted so far.

The first encounter with the Rev9 that ends on the bridge, that whole sequence of action was the only part that actually felt tense from beginning to end. The rest of the movie felt too generic and not impressive enough, definitely not worthy of the story decisions, even if all the movie/action was as intense.

I was waiting for the film to flip to some kind of news coverage of the chase...and that would allow SC to track the events and show up when she did. Then they get arrested there and then is how it should have gone.

@@IVIargerineEclipse I think the term he used was temporal anamolies. He mentions it is supposed to be like a ripple that happens a few weeks before a time traveler arrives. My guess for how Sarah found out might be she found Dani's dad after the Rev-9 killed him (the Rev-9 appeared pretty much inside the apartment complex so tracking from there wouldn't be hard) and tried to track down where Dani was and just followed the trail of chaos. It is still a bit concerning though.

😂I just thought the whole random T-800, pulling up out the drink, then assassinating John Conner ending John and Sarah's whole career- hilarious! Getting that double tap in too. Then after completing a long sought mission. He then finds recreation in his retirement by settling down with his own family. Meeting a lovely women and her son, and raising him together in a quiet cabin homestead. Out in the peaceful woods. Taking up a new passion hobby with interior decorating to replace his past occupation with hunting and terminating would be important world youth leaders. And just taking time to appreciate and enjoy the slow draws of life with loved ones. Then one day, deciding to check in with old past rival aquaintances who's whole world you crushed. Just to catch up and see how they're doing. Doing whatever you can to help them through struggles in their day out of respect for past condolences. You know...for John. I have a bit of a dark humor range and this appeasers it greatly😁

The One actually Legion has no connection to Skynet and unlike Skynet it didn’t use nukes to wipe out humanity ... humanity ended up killing itself with nukes in an attempt to destroy legion. Also legion is faster and deadlier in force than Skynet as seen in some flashes of this new future. Unlike the Skynet forces that were slow and bulky the legion forces were thin and nimble and can move faster and kill quicker. Humanity had more of a shot against Skynet than it does with Legion from what I saw. Plus it was hinted at with Rev 9 that he had a sadistic personality which Skynet never had making Legion almost seem more of an entity with ill intent than a computer running numbers.

James Cameron tore the Director and Writer of Alien 3 for Killing off Hicks and Newt right at the start of the movie, talking about how it was horrible to kill off already established characters. Then he did it to John Connor..... The best thing they could have done if they wanted to replace John Connor, which was the whole point, was to play up on the fact that supposedly SkyNet was destroyed. John Connor wasn't hunted like his Mother Sarah Connor was by the US Law Enforcement, so instead of Random nonconnected Major from the Air Force presenting them with the EMP it could have been John Connor. John Connor had a lot of Military training and a skill set to be an infiltrator, survivor, and leader. They could have just had John Connor/Edward Furlong make the cameo bringing the EMP and trying to help them. That would have been heavily respectful....... The rest of the story was horrible, the Terminator/Carl should never have suddenly just had a conscience because he had lost his 'Purpose'. In Terminator 2 it is set that Terminator CPUs are locked in Read Only and in Judgement day they had to switch his CPU to Learning/Write. It's heavily hard to believe Dani could be the new Leader of the Resistance.....she gets no real character building.....AT ALL! Grace is just insane.......In Post Apocalyptic Earth apparently they were able to develop technology far in excess of the time when Legion was created?! I mean I would love to see how the Humans being hunted down constantly by Legion found the time to set up an R&D Lab, gain the resources, chemicals, and other stuff needed to create this super soldier in Grace? God their Apocalypse must have been really easy if they were able to do all of that after Humanity is basically on it's last legs without factories, infrastructure, labs, and so on to exceed their current Technology BEFORE Legion.....

Miguel Lemir have her grow into a tactical genius and show it in the film not say yeah raw raw wohamz power or slay queen. I am all for women empowerment films but even as a woman I rather have good stories and characters. Like have Dani become one of his top generals along with Dyson’s wife and son. Have her be the one that changes the tide of the war with Skynet like finding the location to the time travel base for example.
