Option 3 lets you enjoy what’s left of your pregnancy given it’s your last one with less stress. Like you said health is always priority even though it will be a tougher recovery. You are a strong momma! You got this! 🥰💪

Amen. My Dad was an OBGYN and he wouldn't do EVs. When my daughter was breech, he told me the decision was mine, but he had a really bad feeling about anyone doing one, so I had a section.

I as an RN in L& D saw a few doctors try to turn baby’s but those that settled in their positions for most of their pregnancy rarely like 1:1000 will turn , so plan on a C-section and get it settled in and do it.

c section is best choice. My son was breach and it was 40 years ago. Then i had 2 more c section. I am happy i got c sections back then. Sure recovery was longer but in the long run it was the be best decision.

I agree with everyone else in the comments, option 3 of a scheduled C section seems the safest way for both you and baby girl. she’s just super comfy and cosy and loves it in there where she is💕 I suffer with anxiety too and I definitely think the safety concerns with the second option would be too much for me, sending so much love to you whatever decision you decide is best for you x

As a former Labor nurse and my daughter had a breech daughter. I’ve seen versions work but I suggest a c-section due to all the risks. I’ve worked in that field for 17 years and seen a lot but not gonna tell horror stories. It’s gonna be hard at times but you are so strong Rachelle, you got this honey. The decision is yours!♥️

I had a successful ECV at 37 weeks and I’m so glad I did! Listening to the Evidence Based Birth podcast episode about breech & ECV really helped me feel informed about what the studies have shown in regards to the risks and success rates of ECVs. One thing that studies have shown is that ECVs are more successful if you get an epidural with it which I did end up getting. For me I figured that worst case scenario if the baby had signs of stress from the procedure then they would immediately do a C-section right then and there. Or I could not do the procedure and still end up with a C-section 2 weeks later. Of course every situation is different and everyone is comfortable with different things but for me the ECV took less than 2 minutes and was a success and gave me the chance to have the vaginal birth I wanted. Best of luck to you & praying for all to go well for you & your baby ❤️

After considering the risks and your past birth trauma and losing a baby already, I would go with the safest option for baby which would be a scheduled c section at 39 weeks. I think it would allow you to relax the rest of this pregnancy and not stress about flipping baby and also give you peace of mind for the next few weeks knowing you have a safe exit strategy for her! Sending love your way ❤️

My first was also a still birth and I have had 2 c sections. I know everyone is different but my second c section was MUCH easier recovery than the first. I was moving sooner and felt 10000% better than the first time. Having had the loss, I personally would choose the csection just to have the piece of mind knowing exactly when she is coming out and safely. Thinking of you guys!

I am not a nurse, but I completely agree. I ended up with large babies. I fought it for hours( and hours), tried everything and ended up with a 9 lb. baby “ sunny side up”…. She was very healthy, and I was grateful everything was ok. My second was 10&1/2 lbs. I am very grateful that I ultimately decided for another c section. There were no “ birth injuries “which can happen with large babies. They are grown, and happy young ladies. Being safe IS the most important thing.🙏🏼💜

He is grown now but he was 10 lbs 14 ozs. His shoulder was stuck and I had no pain meds. 2 weeks late. Dont know what my dr. was thinking. Just do the safest option. Much 💘

as someone who works specifically in a breech team in a hospital I can honestly say that ECV is an extremely safe option. The chances of any of these complications happening are SO low, I have seen many ecv’s and only 1 had complications (mother had other risk factors) and we noticed straight away, had a c-section and baby was fine

I can’t believe I’m saying this because I just tried SO hard for a Vbac because I didn’t want a repeat c-section. I ended up having a repeat/scheduled c-section after our Biophysical profile and non stress test weren’t favorable. My repeat section was INCREDIBLE!! If I were to fall pregnant again I would schedule a c-section in a heartbeat. Ask them if they can drop the drape when baby is born so you can see her and request to have her on your chest in the OR. Both of these things made me feel so much more involved and were not options with my first section ten years ago (or I didn’t know they were). I have heard the external rotation is painful and often doesn’t work anyway but ultimately it is up to you. Love and prayers!! ❤️

I would choose the c section. My first c section was brutal. Going into my second one I was terrified but it was the best experience and completely different. My recovery time was so much better and I was walking right away and much less pain. Then I went on to having my third c section and it was even better! Recovery was amazing and the nurses were amazed at what I was doing just hours after having it. Every c section is different so don’t let your first one stop you from having another 😊❤️

I don't regret my decision, because I have a health baby boy. I think you should go with the C section, just to be on the safe side. I had to pick a C-section also with two of my children! They were tough calls but ultimately I went with what my doc suggested because I was overdue and my cervix wasn’t at all ready to give birth. I would go ahead and take the c-section. It’s the safest route to take. Ultimately it is your decision and you’ll do what you feel is right. @marry632

Midwife (working at hospital) here: you can change your decision at all times! You have the right to stop the operation while still on the table. I'd personally go for option two, since a vaginal birth is associated with less risks for mama and baby, and in case anything happens during the ecv they could do a c-section right then and there. Although I've never seen anything happen while attempting to turn the baby the risks are obviously there, but as I said you're in a hospital while the ecv is done, so in the safest option possible. The only thing I've witnessed is that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and the baby remains breech and then you can still go for the planned cesarian. Fourth option could be: waiting to go into labour and then doing a c-section (doctors are not likely to like that cause it's not plannable), but it would mean that your baby is deciding when to be born.

I agree with this! I guess it depends on how they do the ECV, I imagine at 37 weeks it’s not under a spinal like mine was. Mine failed, but I was 41+5, and my son was 9lbs 14oz. I wish I had known sooner cause I think if I had it done 4 weeks sooner it probably would have been successful. My c/s was brutal, but I didn’t have much support and it was my 4th baby. It was an incredibly hard decision for me also, I had 1 night to decide to do a c/s or attempt a ECV. Ultimately I knew for myself a vaginal delivery was best, and it was worth the try. Everything was extremely monitored, I was in the OR, with 2 doctors and an u/s tech. They watched his vitals the whole time. So when his HR did drop, they told me and immediately started the c/s.

But not every woman has time for a c-section if they allow themselves to go into labor spontaneously. Precipitous labors are not that uncommon. I was told with my second baby to come As soon as I thought I was in labor. After 2 weird pains in my butt that were exactly 10 minutes apart I got into the shower didn't even wash my hair brought my bags downstairs, told my husband to put our toddler with no shoes, full diaper, and still in pajamas In the car ( he still hadn't taken care of those things since I told him to before my quick shower) And we took a 5 minute drive to the hospital. I was rushed to OB and was checked and was fully dilated and ready to go. By then I was feeling the contractions and was pretty sure I was in labor, so...yeah, if I had a breech baby, I couldn't risk it waiting until labor for a c-section.

I had an ECV done with my first pregnancy, wasn’t successful and it hurt so bad! People always say that it’s uncomfortable, but to me it was actually worse than the recovery for my C-section. This time around, I’ll be 37 weeks tomorrow, baby is breech, and I am choosing to not have the procedure done and going straight to the section because of the pain it brought on. hey! first I want to say I love your videos and you have a beautiful family! so here’s my experience with ECV. I had it done with my first pregnancy. i believe it had a contributing factor for my still birth that followed. my baby was full term, healthy and right on track. now there were many other factors in it (doctors errors) but the natural factor in it was the cord around his neck. i’m sorry if this is triggering or anything for you. just from one mamma who lost a baby to another, i would suggest the safest rout, a scheduled cesarean. I understand not only the pain of it, but the trauma after as well. my team of doctors suggested a c section with my second pregnancy after my loss. it was the best decision i made. less stress, more “control “ i guess. anyways i really hope this helps! As a former labor and delivery nurse and Mom of two babies who were c-sections, in my opinion, just go for the scheduled c-section. I've assisted in external versions before and literally two people will be pushing really hard on your belly to move the baby. She's in that position for a reason so why mess with it and risk having to end up with an emergency c-section at 37 weeks instead of a scheduled one at 39 weeks? Don't stress it! Thinking of you and looking forward to the big day!!

It was still an “emergency c section” but it wasn’t rushed. Let’s you enjoy what is left of your pregnancy. Whereas if you chose option 2, there’s always a risk for a rushed c section. I almost had an ECV done but she flipped on her own but it’s so scary and stressful leading up to it. But since she’s stayed breech this whole time it might be unlikely that she’ll flip. My daughter had a shorter cord and they were so shocked she flipped herself. It’s hard but maybe the C-section is the right choice because baby seems comfy.

You poor sweet mama! I’m so sorry you’re facing this but I am believing for a great outcome for both of you either way! I’ve never had either before but being a nurse and a mom myself, I would say your gut is leading you in the right direction for a c section. I feel you’d have less anxiety and a greater outcome for both you and baby! ❤️

Honey, I had my beautiful Daisygirl in March via planned csection after we were doing vaginal right up to week 39. I LOVED my csection and the whole experience! Recovery was also such a breeze. I found that it really helped my anxiety. Knowing the specific time & date, doctors are in control, quick process, and most of all she will be brought into this world as safe as possible. My advice would be to embrace whichever you choose as her birthstory. It is the way she is meant to come into this world and whatever method, it is joyous and beautiful! I had no pain during any part of her birth or after. I also believed it's best to get up and move as soon as possible. You can do this mama!

Give it to God. 🙏🙏🙏 The fact you said about short cord took me to my last baby if I had gone for vaginal breech birth she would have been born with health issues. As she had a short knotted cord round her neck

I understand that you want baby girl to be safe and I think option 3 will give you that And you have friends that can help while you recover, they could have the kids for playdates so that you and Justin can have a bit of a break 😉 Hope Justin feels better soon

I would also say option 3, but maybe check if your doctor would be ok doing an ultrasound if you go on labor on your own because some babys flip during labor but either way, the most important thing is your and babys health. Hoping for an easier recovery this time and lots of baby cuddles ♥️

C section-feels like the safest for the baby even though the recovery for you may be longer and uncomfortable, but as long as the baby arrives safe and healthy, that’s what’s best I feel. Best wishes on whatever you decide, ultimately, it’s up to you and Justin.

I’m in the UK and regularly watch your videos. I can feel your dilemma, but i think I’d go c section I’m naturally anxious and if it were me any extra worries will just make the whole process worse. I’ve had two c sections and yes they aren’t ideal but our bodies are great at healing and as mothers we naturally adapt to coping with kids, husbands, housework and pets! Wishing you all the best 😘

With my first, she was Frank breech and I was given the same options as you, aside from option 1 because of the military healthcare. I contemplated either c-section or ecv and I chose c-section because of the risks involved. She had no issues coming out of the Frank breech position after birth and no hip issues either. Her cord was wrapped around her weird upon delivery so I’m really glad with our choice! I’m now expecting my third and hoping for a VBA2C!

I worked for OBGYN’s for eight years, after many years in practice and doing ECV’s in the beginning of their career they decided to no longer perform ECV’s. I won’t share horror stories but I would go with a scheduled c-section if I were you. I’ve had c-sections myself. Even IF you flipped her there’s no guarantee of a vaginal delivery. You never know what could come up during labor and send you to the operating room. In the end, in terms of recovery, you have done it before after twins AND you have a great support system. You’re strong and you’ll be just fine mama.

I had my daughter vaginally and my son ended up being breech, I didn’t try flipping him at the hospital and opted for a c-section just to keep stress levels low and make sure we were both healthy. Recovery was okay. I was sore and stiff the first few days but it was fine as long as you keep up with your band and medicine. Which I only think tylenol worked better for me. You got this mama ❤️

I know it’s hard to have to change birth plans, but like you said #1 priority is baby girl… plans don’t always go as planned, sometimes we have to do what’s best for our kids and not let your idea of a “perfect birth” get ahead of her safety… the perfect birth is a safe one, which in this case is a C-section. Hoping the best for you and your family ❤️

LDRP RN for 14 years and Mama here. Like other RNs I’m not going to share my bad stories but I will say personally I’d never opt for a ECV. I’d do a scheduled cesarean. But I do feel our views can be tainted because of the bad things we’ve seen even if they are rare, those few patients are burned in our brains forever. Best of luck. Can’t wait to see your little girl. ❤️ edited to add…I’ve never personally had a version but from what most patients act during them and from what a lot of them say after it can be painful.

Not many women opt for an ECV so I'll leave my experience here. 22 years ago, I had a version (ECV) at 37 weeks. An OR was scheduled should the baby need to be delivered; however, I was fully awake and in a procedure room. The Dr said he would only try to turn her for 2 minutes...didn't even take that long. I wanted the version because I have easy labors with only a few pushes and I had two children who would be running around at home if I needed to recover from a C-Section. So I had a successful ECV and successful vaginal delivery of a 9 lb baby girl on her due date. However, I strongly feel that you need to go with your gut...so what if you changed your mind from this morning. You need to do what you think is best for you...and given your history with Brynn, the thought of choosing a procedure that could potentially harm your baby is understandably scary.

Honestly my scheduled C-sections were the most calm and measured experiences. You know exactly how long you have to prepare, exactly what to expect and exactly how recovery feels. ECVs this late term are pretty scary so for safety, I'd say C-section as well. All of that said I had my twins first, (then a singleton who was a repeat C), and a scheduled C because babies were both breech and the morning I went in and got hooked up they did a repeat ultrasound and both babies had turned right at 37 weeks in a 24 hour period. 😂 So you never know, maybe you'll get your VBAC. 😉💙

Midwife here. I would say ECV. The reason they wait til 37 weeks is because she would be considered term then and if she for whatever reason does not like the ECV procedure they can do CS immediately if needed. You have had vaginal delivery before, CS is major abdo surgery, but I assume you have made decision by now and you should pick which is best for you and family x

I think you should do what causes the least amount of stress. I feel you’re feeling better about the c-section and causes you less anxiety regarding the baby. God will take care of all of it, and He’ll take care of your healing. Now off that subject, when I saw that Justin was sick with a respiratory infection, I became very concerned. After loosing Beau so quickly to a respiratory infection, it just concerns me that whatever bacteria or fungus is in the yard or somewhere, it just concerns me that it may be hanging around. I don’t mean to be gloomy or a downer, I’m just very concerned. Wondering if the Vet went ahead and ran the testing on Beau. I just think it’d be a good idea to check. Also it kinda worried me when I saw you were thinking of getting a puppy, until you know. I love you guys and don’t want anyone else to be sick. Just extremely concerned for the sweet Swannie family.

I’m a nurse and I would 100% do the first option. I know you said you won’t do that one, but you listed it for us, so I’m just telling you. Your body and your baby were made to work together. You are not broken. Breech is a variation of normal. I also sincerely hope that your doctor listed all of the immediate and lifelong risks of c section for you as well as the risks of ECV. Having a baby is risk, but it does not have to be scary. Praying for peace over your decision today! ❤️

As a NICU nurse I'm really glad to hear you aren't considering option 1--thats just asking for complications. My vote would be for the c-section. The few times I've heard of the ECV being done/working--I feel like a lot of them flip back to breech and a c-section ended up being needed anyways.

As a Nurse for 29 years.... C-section would be my choice.. If anything goes wrong with the ECV, you would have an Emergency C-section & that is more dangerous in itself... C- sections are typically not brutal.. first 3 days are the toughest, as any abdominal surgery. Prayers for you & your beautiful family.

I haven’t had an ECV, but I’ve had a c-section for twins and a vbac. I’m 38 weeks I have a repeat section scheduled for this coming Friday. To me it made the most sense for my anxiety. I knew I wouldn’t do an ECV if she was breech because I felt similarly to you- I don’t know if the risks are worth it. I have so much anxiety surrounding possibly losing her and a c-section is statistically safer for baby, even if recovery isn’t easier for mom. Plus I like that I could schedule it and my mom could make the trip to watch our other 6 kiddos that day. Anyway- I hope you feel at peace with whatever choice you make!

I had my baby via elective c-section because he was breech, and had a very smooth recovery, was nice to know when he was going to arrive and could be all prepared and ready to go. I was offered to do an ECV but I decided there were too many risks so chose not to have one. My risks included though- baby was measuring big (was born over 9lb), so was likely to be more difficult to try turn as didn't have much room inside. His head had also been jammed up under my ribs for weeks, he was frank breech, folded in half with his feet and hands up by his face and he hadn't moved positions in ages so I didn't think he was likely to want to turn. I also had an anterior placenta, so there is risk of it being damaged or separating from the uterus during an ECV. My concern was that if I agreed to an ECV, there was high chance it would fail, with all my added risks, with possibility of putting baby into distress and then we'd end up in emergency c-section, likely at 37 weeks when they would have done the ECV, rather than letting him cook longer and be delivered closer to 40 weeks. Happy with my decision and would do the same again given the same circumstances, however if your baby girl is measuring average size and you feel like she's able to move around inside quite a bit still, and your placenta is in a safe area then ECV may work for you. Remember the risk list is always longer than the positive list as there is only 1 positive outcome and that is baby turns (and stays head down) and you go ahead with natural labour. Hopefully your recovery from a singleton c-section delivery would be easier than the twin delivery if you choose to go that way and at least you know what to expect with an elective c-sextion recovery, but a failed ECV recovery could be more unpredictable. Good luck!

So, different situation but with my daughter (who is just a couple weeks younger than Emma, I started watching you when you were still pregnant with her!) I had to have a c-section because my pelvic inlet seems narrow. My doctor told me in the future I could try to do a VBAC if I really wanted to try, but the risk of me needing another C-section was likely around 95%. I'm with you on preferring a hospital birth and baby's safety being a top priority! Fast forward to now and I'm currently 12.5 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins! We're opting to schedule a c-section at 38 weeks (when our practice delivers twins). I feel like it's the least risky option, personally. It's hard when you're given choices but the choices come with a number of risks. If the ECV feels too risky to you, go with your gut and go with the c-section. I know I'd be the same way, like not wanting to possibly choose the choice with more risks and possibly have anything happen. While my losses were early, I had a miscarriage before my daughter, and a chemical pregnancy before the twins. So I'm so paranoid about making sure I'm doing things to keep the babies safe and healthy. Whatever you choose, I wish you the best of luck, a smooth delivery/recovery and that baby girl is healthy and happy! 💜

I have had an extremely difficult natural delivery - over 51 years ago and an emergency c-section after being in labor for over 96 hours and almost died. That was 40 years ago today and we are both alive and well. I would go on the safe side and do the c-section. That protects both you and the baby. Please don't take chances. Maybe you can get some friends to help you or maybe hire a college girl to help with the other kids when you come out of the hospital. But please choose the safest way. You will get through it. Best of luck to you. You are in my prayers.🙏💖
