I’m an older guy and drive only 8-10K miles per year so I’ll drive my 23 TRD until I die. I’m quite sure that my wife will still be using it to plow the 5-7 feet of snow off our private road until she too either can no longer drive or she too passes away. I have a 2022 manual Bronco about 32,000 miles now. So far no major issues. A couple issues that were fixed for free under the warranty. The alternator had to be replaced because of a bad pulley. I'm going to keep it a long time for my fun vehicle and probably get a Honda Civic for my next daily driver.

If you drive in the Salt Belt, you also have to consider corrosion of the battery cables and corrosion of the battery to frame ground straps. crappy connections will have high voltage drop whic can give you the same symptoms as a battery that has poor capacity.

Hi Scotty, love your channel and have learned a lot from it. This is the first time I have ever commented on a channel and I have noticed that you don’t like how the prices of car batteries have gone up so much and I have never seen you comment on trying to revive old car batteries. From watching a few other channels and past experiences. I have found that sometime you can make the battery last longer if you open up the cells on the battery and refill the cells close to the top with distilled water. Then charging the battery overnight. Recently I did this with a Duracell battery for my RAV4 and I was able to improve the state of health on the battery by at least 25%.

One thing I have to mention is that when you have a faulty battery, you can boost it but, if you continue to boost it, it will wear out your alternator as well. These two components work like a good marriage. One doesn’t work without the other. If your new battery keeps going dead, check your alternator as well. Often, around the 5-7 yr mark these two components wear out about the same time, so get ready financially to replace them. I also highly recommend a gel battery as your replacement. They can last up to 10 yrs. The beauty about the old school cars is you can just buy the components and replace them yourself if you have the tools.🛠️🧰🪛🔧

530 cranking amps for that big of a truck? My 1.6 litre mini has over 700. Probably why the one I bought in late 2017 lasted till Feb 2024

I bought a brand new 96 Ford Ranger years ago had it for 14 years and a battery was fine and that is in Wisconsin I was wondering if that was one that escaped the factory that wasn't supposed to put 5 years for a battery or 6 years dad doesn't seem like it's very long for a battery to last

My dad's wife's son...who is oddly my brother...told me the 4runner is a fine vehicle.

What does this video have anything to do with president Donald Trump?

Nothing. He just wanted everyone to watch thru the whole video. He's tricky like that.

Also had a 2002 Toyota Solara, we had bought used. What milage was on it when we bought it and our driving around 143,678 it went onto limp mode. Ran codes and came up that it was the throttle body. Called Toyota and would be around $1500.00 plus labor. Dad said take it to Toyota and let them diagnose it. That some times the code readers don’t read Toyota right. So took it to them. Two days later they called and said yes it was the throttle body, but it was under an extended warranty and they fix it for free! Can’t beat Toyota!! See if you would get that from any American auto maker?? I love GM, but can’t beat a Toyota! And the real shame- American auto makers could make the same quality!!

A battery carrier used to be sold. It attaches to the battery posts, makes installation easier.
@FredPriest-ud6cuКүн бұрын
A top post battery , you can put the box end over the post and lift the old one out & replace the new one the same but reverse.

I remember those battery carriers. Haven't seen one in a long time.

Rural King batteries is all I buy for years now. All have lasted about 7 years give or take. I always trickle charge a new battery before I install it and once and a while here and there over the years.

Weird that modern cars don't have a "check/replace your battery" message. Heck, there are plenty of PIDs from the ECM that report voltages... this is one that shouldn't require a visit to the mechanic!

Everyone should track down old 30's - 60's Ford and Chevy V8's and staight 6's with three speeds; and fix them up, if they ain't too rusted, or buy two and build one.

I still miss those 3 speed gearboxes with the downshift. Man, when that kicked in it was like rocket assist!
@SiCreweКүн бұрын
Had a 2015 Mini and the first sign I got that it needed a new battery was that the central-locking would randomly lock the car. Better hope you haven't left the key in it when that happens.

I want a spacious Russian all terrain all weather jungle car with even better overview than the first Range Rover and with natural low rev V8 (less than 6 gears because low rev engines need not much gears instead of tiny Japanese rev engines) no computer crap and a manual. A car that you completely can assemble with four tools.
