NEW I've just opened a merch shop! If there's anything you'd like to see there in addition to the currently limited lineup, drop a comment on my latest video and let me know! shop.spreadshi... NEW: A link to my boring Facebook page! / cynicalmikey In this video, I will show you how to get unlimited internet for home, traveling, vacationing, working, or anything else for only $25 per month!
The first step is to sign up for Visible Wireless. Using the Party Plan, you can have access to unlimited talk, text, AND data with mobile hotspot capability for only $25 per month.
The second step is to get a travel router. You can go cheap for under $30, but remember that the better the capabilities and size of the router, the farther the reach will be to connected devices. In this video, I will use the Rav Filehub for which I paid $20 (details in the video for how I got it so cheap) and show you how to connect it to your Visible Wireless mobile hotspot to connect all of your devices to the internet.
Rav Filehub as shown in video: amzn.to/2UOGYjZ
A cheaper, smaller Rav Filehub: amzn.to/39S0Wym
Tp Link Travel Router (cheaper): amzn.to/2V0W6cA
Cheaper, smaller Tp Link: amzn.to/3aPtlX5
Premium, Gigabit Travel Router: amzn.to/39S12WK

Been using visible with a nano router for a month now. No issues so far. Hopefully they don't start capping the speed or change anything because so far it has worked great. @@kazzilla99 I got a nano router on Amazon for $25 and with Visible my internet is basically $25/mo and works great. I even work from home sometimes with it and it does great for the majority of what I need to do. If you run multiple devices at the same time 2 setups would work better. I can run my laptop while the tv is streaming video in another room but it is a bit slower that way. Depends a lot on the area you’re in also. Visible service works great in my area though.

Been with visible for about 2yrs now and love it. I went with the AC750 mini router from amazon for $35 and with an iphone 14 it works like a champ. Same setup as your router. On mine, I run a laptop, remote TV, nest thermostat, ring doorbell, 2 security cameras, and a CO2 monitor all at the same time in my RV. For a guy to always have unlimited internet wherever an RV can be towed at $25 ($25.00 is the full charge, no other taxes or fees) a month is outstanding. You can upgrade to 5g on visible for $10 more tho I haven't done that yet.

Just a little correction: Your speed shouldn’t necessarily halve going from one AP to another if they’re close by, but your PING WILL suffer. The best way to get around that is to connect your phone to your computer with USB, and then share the USB connection to the hotspot with ethernet from your computer TO your hotspot. That will give you the best ping possible but it will be shit compared to an actual wired cable/fiber connection.

You could also purchase an ASUS RT-AC68R wifi Router (used for ~ $40), and connect your Visible Verizon cellphone using a USB cord to it and have internet access for all your (wired & wireless) devices, by configuring the router to use the USB port as the WAN connection (see router menu). I have used this setup myself and it works. The cellphone also stays charged all the time. The only disadvantage is ending up with a corded phone, when you want to use the phone to make calls (no biggie). Of course, you could always discount it from the router. The advantage is that your cellphone is always charged 100%.

I had a horrible experience with the T-Mobile mobile hotspot data service. When I first got it, I checked to see if it worked, and I was so happy that it did! It connected quickly, got onto 4G and I was able to access a website and it was quick! That's all I did in that moment. It was less than 5 minutes. Maybe even 2 minutes. I turned off the device, put it away in its box to save the data until I would actually need it. Some days later, I turned it back on, connected, but not even one website would load. All of the lights were on, indicating all was good. I checked the admin portal... and it was down to 2G! Seriously, I hadn't used the device at all for days and when I needed it most, it wouldn't work! I couldn't open even one web page. The salespeople at the T-Mobile store were just shamelessly trying to sell me something that doesn't work. It's impossible that in the 2 minutes I'd used it just to check that it worked that my data had gotten eaten up. Waste of money.

I tried a cheap $10 Rav file hub travel router, and it worked fine. I connected five devices to it with no problem. Visible let you connect more then one devices on hot spot if you have a Iphone, but only one device with a android phone. Why? I don't know. However, you can connect two devices with your android phone. Plug in a usb cable into your laptop, and phone, go to settings, networks, "WIRE" tethering, and turn on. Your laptop will be connected to the internet. Than connect another device to your hot spot.

If I have an unlimited cell phone data plan on T-mobile, couldn't I just turn on my mobile hotspot and connect my laptop, TV, tablet, etc. to my mobile hotspot, and it would essentially do the same thing? There are a few important things you should know: 1) Visible throttles the hotspot to 5Mb which is plenty fast for HD streams but like all cell providers, they 2) limit streams to 480p which isn't the greatest quality on a TV larger than 26in, and 3) like all MVNOs, your speeds can be painfully slow during primetime tower usage because Verizon premium customers get priority.. If you live in a 5g area and you have a 5g device, that does not affect you. For the 5Mb hotspot throttle and 480p stream limitation, I have an easy solution. Get a GL-iNet N300 router so that you can configure the firewall to set the TTL value to 65 to bypass the 5Mb throttle. This model also contains VPN software at the router level to hide your connection to the streaming service providers such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, youtube, etc. If you are using a Windows laptop, Android TV, or any android device with root, you can use any router because these devices can easily change the TTL value so that by the time packets reach the Visible server, they are 64. Unfortunately Roku devices and smart TVs do not allow you to configure the TTL so you are limited to 5Mb speed. Also, smart TVs and Roku devices do not allow setting up a VPN so the TV / Roku device can never avoid the 480p stream limitation. The GL-iNet N300 is perfect for any 4g/5g cellular provider, not just Visible.

@@tinosmo1 ping will be too high and you will constantly lag. @@tinosmo1 Ping is latency, or the amount of time it takes for a packet of data to go from your device to the server, and then back. It is measured in milliseconds. The higher the ping, the more lag you will notice in online gaming. Ping doesn't really affect web browsing or watching videos, but things like video/voice chats and online gaming can be negatively affected with high ping times. The amount of ping you have depends on many factors, like the connection between your PS4 and the hotspot device, the hotspot's connection to the carrier, the server you are connecting to and any of the connections in between your console and the server.

I do not recommend using LTE for online gaming. I have unlimited data from Sprint and I have tried using my hotspot on my S8+ for my PS4 and PC when my isp was down. Games like Rocket League and Call of Duty were laggy and I had high ping. Even with speedtest testing my LTE connection at 50mbps down. As others said here, ping is latency. The lower number the better. For things like casual internet browsing, social media, online school etc, this is a great inexpensive option.

cant you just put the sim into the lte router and then that eliminates an entire stall or gate it has to go through? just get a plan, put the sim in the lte router, go to the ttl and put in the correct number for the phone its supposed to be in, and then youre running wifi straight from the router to your laptop rather than phone to router to laptop....

I was able to get this working with an iPhone, and I'm able to connect multiple devices to it. But it seems the phone or the hotspot features goes to sleep when nothing is connected to it. So when I go to connect to it, it's not an available wifi, until I wake the phone up. Does that sounds right? I have the phone plugged into wall charger the entire time.

If you have sprint in your area.. Google sprint hotspot 175 quarterly. It will lead to a membership plan that for up to 600 a year (500 after first yr) you get unlimited hotspot plus a hotspot unit. And its a real plan. Not a b.s. one. 600 a year for first year makes it 50 a month, or 40 something year after including the hotspot itself.

Get a GL.iNet GL-AR750S travel router, tether via USB and you'll get better performance. If your hotspot data allotment is capped, you'll need to mangle post routing to force the TTL so by the time it hits the cell towers, the carrier thinks it's coming from the original device at a value of 64. That will in most cases require setting the TTL value on the router to 65, or 66, depending on how many hops.

I have tried using Visible for our home internet. It was a total disaster!! Yes, the service is $40/month or you can lower it to $25/month. Visible worked all the time, but it was throttled most of the time. The service was so slow when throttled that it was unusable for internet. I tried it for 3-4 months until I finally realized it wasn't worth it. So, I have discontinued Visible.

I have had visible for a few months now and it works great. Yes, they throttle the speeds, but now all the time. I can connect and play xbox all their time and download 30 to 50 GB games very quickly. And stream netflix and others no problems at all. There are days when I guess the network is busy, especially with everyone staying home that it is slower. I live in a rural area and there are no options for internet here at all. If you’re going to use this as a home Internet replacement, I’m wondering if anyone has used and electrical plug timer (those timer to use for Christmas lights to turn on and off at certain parts of the day). If so, does this fake the phone out into thinking that it has been unplugged and then plug back in Daily?

@cynicalmikey8769
@cynicalmikey8769 4 жыл бұрын
I think you'd get hung up in that process. To provide signal to the iPhone, you'd be using the android hotspot. For the iPhone to pick it up, wifi would have to be on. And that's the end. The iPhone can use the android's hotspot for internet access, but you can't then turn on the iPhone's hotspot to redistribute the signal. You can't use wifi and hotspot together on the same device.

You have to use the WISP mode. I have an older TP LINK router TL-MR3040 that has the same function and it works great. 1) turn on hotspot but do not connect to it, 2) connect to your router wirelessly with a computer or phone, 3) bring up router setup page, 4) in WISP setup mode, connect to the hotspot, 5) router should restart, 6) connect your devices to the router. Make sure the hotspot doesn't turn off automatically during setup. You can setup the wireless security or use the default.
