My high school was one of those extremely large schools with a lot of middle to upper middle class kids. The school was pretty rich and even had it's very own school employed mang-tataho that all of us flocked to during recess and lunch break. I'm honestly glad that it wasn't as overpriced as other food items sold there so my middle class wallet could at least enjoy something flavorful without spending too much. It's so nostalgic.

America has no culture unless you're a certain ethnicity. Being Indigenous to the USA and Northern Mexico we have our cultures and foods that we grew up having as kids. Mine was southern style foods of Texas /Mexico/ Spain . The best of all worlds, in my eyes. We didn't make Fry bread ,but has homemade corn and flour tortillas. 😍 Cheese seems to be an American thing, we put it on everything, hThing, Tapioca pudding is a thing for Asian for desert and now we have Boba shops everywhere in Asian marketplaces. I love the way America has so many ethnicities and so many restaurants now! Start going to Asian markets and look through the isles they have everything from around the world. India, Mexico, Puerto Rican, Chinese, Japanese. Cuban and more ! Cultural food marketplaces are my fave and we can find Vietnamese restaurants as well. American versions of these foods are horrible, lol. I'd rather experience the real, authentic foods made by someone who knows the REAL deal. We have too many TexMex foods instead of ORIGINAL foods of my ancestors. Chimichangas are NOT from MEXICO ,haha! ELOTE (corn on the cob) is different here in America. Of u don't get it from an original Mexican vendor ,it's not the same! 😩 Go to Mexican food markets and taste the chicken that looks yellow and BBQ it outside on a grill. Amazing flavor ! Best wishes for u to travel the world

I think the syrup is made from palm sugar or coconut sugar. If you want to make it at home, use molasses or brown sugar instead of maple syrup-which would be too light on the earthiness and you can try buying boba in a can or packet or even frozen to add in. That said, many boba shops would add silky tofu for you upon request to your brown sugar boba.

I have this memory of this one time I was down to panhandling in Seattle and this one lady gave me her favorite combo which had milk tea with pudding and bubbles. So it was honestly kind of similar to this but although I think this was soft egg pudding. Yeah that really gave me so much hope and light at the time that this woman went back inside the store and really got me her favorite with 2 fixins in there. Type of hospitality I long to be able to share.
