Hello Mr. Hartford, I also have a tax problem, according to the IRS I owe $1050.00, well I don’t have a nickel right now. Besides, they want me to write a letter explaining how I expended over $4000.00 in books. Unfortunately, that’s the year the Hurricane hit FL., I have a lot of damages including boxes and boxes of very expensive books as well as receipts. Now they want an itemized list and prices of all my books. I used to keep copies of receipts on my lap top, but it also got damaged. I received $1015.00 and my husband $398.00., a month from social security. Also in 2016 right before the hurricane, I withdrew the last $7500.00., from my 403b. I had todo it because my house is a mess, the pluming is leaking in different places. The Insurance denied my claim, so I have been paying for house repairs out of pocket. The $5000.00., that I had left after paying for those repairs; I keep the cash money here at home, but when they started announcing the hurricane, I was told by my neighbors to take all the cash with me because it was going to be a lot worse than Andrew back in 1992. So I packed the money and our medications and took them to the shelter; well, I don’t know how or when someone took the bag. When I realized it was missing, I went to several police or army officers and reported. There replied was that they weren’t there to babysit anybody’s belongings and that there was nothing they could do. So now I’m not only totally broke, but I have the IRS, Mortgage, and credit cards Companies after me. I bought those courses to study and prepare myself to pass the State Board of nursing, so that I can return to work. I feel as if I am at the end of the rope. I simply feel totally lost and helpless. May I have you phone number so that I might be able to call you. Or do you have an email where I can write to you? Thank you for sharing your knowledge and all your support to the community. May God Bless You, I hope to hear from you soon. B. Perez

I know someone who has a gambling addiction as well. He has not filed taxes in years because he knows he has debts with the IRS. He won big at the casino. He won a car but took the cash instead and had no intention of claiming anything. The IRS recently served him with a certified letter. It's all catching up with him.
@frugalprepper5 жыл бұрын
Most casinos hold out the estimated taxes before they payout, so he may not owe as much as he thinks, which is probably why the IRS hasn't been bugging him. If I was him I would get a copies of tax software on e-bay and get them filed. I got about 5 years behind on my taxes. I found that making myself sit there for days and get them together and do them myself and figure them out was an important part of the learning to "NEVER DO THIS AGAIN" process. I had to switch jobs and cash out part of my 401K to pay them all, but I got them paid and moved forward.

Great call Dave. The issue is not simply stopping the behavior, it is getting healing for the cause that started the behavior (self medication) - I know because I have worked with addictions in other areas. Without getting healing for the underlying causes the behavior will return, over and over again. I know, I have been there. By the grace of God (literally) I am free now, but there were many times … (too many to count).

You should read the actual constitution instead of listening to the nutjobs. The 16th amendment of the constitution clearly states that the government can tax income. "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
@jcrowley19857 жыл бұрын
That amendment was passed in 1913, the same year that a privately run bank disguised as a federal agency hijacked he nation's money supply and replaced our gold with worthless paper. Stealing (ie: taxing our income) was just the nail in the coffin for letting citizen's control their own wealth.

I’m a single mom, two boys who eat a lot, can’t afford groceries, rent, keep having to borrow money from family just to stay afloat. I had to move a few years ago to be close to my ex and my kids schools because I received the Covid shot and was diagnosed with MS and couldn’t drive as much. It’s been a tough road. I had to use credit cards to buy necessities and pay for things to keep my new place functional. (Looking back, I should NOT have done that! I could have gone without some things.) Now I am $20k or so in debt and I am trying to work with a debt settlement company, but they haven’t paid anything off yet and just take fees from my $400/mo dedicated savings with them. I feel like I am drowning! 😢 I don’t know what to do. I can’t move in with anyone. I can’t find an affordable place because rent is too high out here. Life feels like an endless pit. 😢
