Awh, take the LONG way home! Not a better feeling than to walk back to your truck with a bird over your shoulder. Drumming? I wish I could hear drumming! lol. At 73 I'm lucky to hear it thunder. Your hunting portrayals are authentic. Your videos are the best examples of what really happens in the turkey woods. Man, this was a good kill. You can see your relief on camera. The pressure's off. You did well.

Chip......beware of those giveaways ,,,, they maybe a scam, many viewers are getting those notifications..........but on another note.... I use the Walker Game ear, the "Walkers Game Ear Digital HD Power Elite" ..... I can hear the gobblers 1 mile away..... incredible..... I have two now..one for each ear,,, when you shoot, it clips the blast so you don't get the loud blast..... every little bird tweet or dog bark for miles you will hear,,, its like hearing when you were a kid !....yeah at 67, I don't hear like I used to.....too many gun blasts and loud race bikes when I was young.......good luck !!

I’ve watched a lot of turkey hunting videos and it seems like hunters with those red dot scopes either miss or have to take multiple shots. I have those true glo dot sights on my mossberg 835 and rarely have to take more than one shot.

I have learned over the years never to shoot them with the head down and picking no matter how close they are.. I'm glad you got him.. that could have turned out a lot worse. I know you love your wingbone, but a diaphram in the cheek of your mouth to putt and get his head up is worth it.. or just use your natural voice. Thanks for the good video.

Glad you got him. I bought those TSS shells this year and I shot one March 23rd at 20 yards and he dropped and quivered a few times but never flopped. I'm not an advertiser. Just a regular joe hunter and I balked at the price but my son, who is a duck hunter, swore that tungsten was better. I've only shot the one bird with it but I'll say I've never seen one drop like that. I know there are some crazy videos out there with people taking long shots. I don't know that I'm willing to risk some of those but ill take a longer shot now than I would without them. They're pricey but how many turkeys does one shoot in a year.
@mikelhardin38692 жыл бұрын
Man I went to tss last year still don't take a shot over 40 45 yards but it has a great pattern and builds your confidence I think it at least it did mine
@chipkyle54282 жыл бұрын
Me too. I bought five 12 ga. 3 1/2" Hevi-shot shells loaded with 5,6,&7 shot for 45 dollars! I've never hit a turkey's head harder at 20 steps. Every bone was broken in the head and first 3 vertebra. I brought my son back 3 days later and he dropped another gobbler in his tracks at 52 steps with my Benelli and the same shell. I was about to say "wait" when BOOM! I couldn't believe the range. My son is a Orthopedic surgeon. We skinned the head and found ample killing wounds from the skull to the neck/breast juncture. I got 3 of them 45 dollar shells left! ha.

I don’t remember seeing that high falootin scattergun, maybe you’re still learning how to use that thing 😅. I couldn’t see how that bird rode on your new leather strap hauler. Try and get someone to video that this season. Oops! Hope I didn’t just jinx you! 😉 Fun as always, a pleasure because you always ponder your weaknesses and try hard to overcome them. Piedmont and mountain birds are my favorite sub-sub species. I had good knees and ears when I was your age and had killed a few truck loads full of birds by then. Your woodsmanship is as good as mine was too. I’m still hunting, moving slower and hearing less but killing my share of the birds that no one has the patience to hunt. I usually hit the woods as most folks are leaving because I have the patience and time to kill the birds that most folks educate. I’m trying to kill a legal fall hen and use your video on how to make a wing bone yelper. I went to the Walter Parrot Graduate school of cutt-yelping (he killed two birds in front of me in the 80’s, he’s a many time national champion) and I now use my natural voice to call. However, the turkey hunter that I’m named after used to use a wingbone, and making one and killing another truckload of gobblers with it is on my bucket list. Stay tuned and keep up the nice work Young Man!

Real good analysis of that kill Catman. I hope you weren't shooting those 12-14$ shells. 😆 That's a good tip for starting out turkey hunters - wait until the head is up and looking to the side to maximize your target.
