This is criminal these are mixed so low, had no idea all this was going on, especially that turn around in the intro.

@@dehypeeroc I know it's literally insane, right? 🤯 Quite how it was decided that the original mix was acceptable in the studio I have no idea...her relentless drum beat and fills add so much to the mania of the track, and give it the propulsion it needs. Without them, it's just incomprehensible noise!
@dehypeeroc5 ай бұрын
@@CAMFORRESTER Totally, I imagine they left before it was even mixed and someone who had no clue what they were dealing with set the levels? I'd love to hear it now somewhere in between haha, with these killer drums prominent but glued in with the rest as well

Just want to let you know how much I enjoy your Mo "studies" and respect YOUR respect for her power and minimalist innovations. You put in a lot of hard work- big thanks.

Cam, thank you for putting the spotlight on Mo. She was so incredible and was a big part of what made VU stand out. Although WL/WH was another absolute masterpiece by VU, I think they should have brought her drums WAY up in the mix. In my opinion, her best drumming, in general!

I think her best work is on LIVE 1969, and the most audible on the third album. But I do think her drumming is more intricate here than people think (I never had much of a hard time hearing her drumming on this track on the original album, though). :)

This sounds incredible. It should get an official release - that’s how good this is. Moe really was the engine. Moe’s drumming is genius.

This is great. "Better than the original" hardly ever really is, but this is an exception. This is one of my all time favorite songs, but bringing the drums up higher in the mix is better, it becomes more propulsive, while still remaining unsurpassed as a majestic, chaotic, howling, metallic din. The video montage is also spectacular. This is all a labor of love for the mighty Maureen, which is well deserved. I hope she is aware of your efforts. Have you heard from her?

Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes, she has seen my documentary and said she was very flattered. Her son Richard also wrote a lovely comment on it, which I pinned right at the top of the thread!

Thanks, Cam! Oh, if only the original WL/WH album had drums we could hear decently. What that must have sounded like in the room at the time they live-tracked it.

i like the drums louder, but this is a bit too loud, drums up front with rest of the band and vocals in the background
