The bathroom sticking out seemed to suggest to me that an older building with tiny bathrooms was renovated to have larger ones by building the bath area into an extension. (Edit: invalidated; check first reply)
@blarghmcblarghson190321 күн бұрын
Highly unlikely, with a bathtub and all that plumbing, that structure is pretty heavy. You can't just slap a few thousand pounds of concrete, metal, and glass onto the side of a building without adding more support structures (especially when we see not one, but two of them in frame); however if you look under the bathroom, you can see there are no diagonal beams or pillars supporting it, which strongly indicates the building's load distribution is designed to account for those floating bathrooms.
@PWingert196620 күн бұрын
The entire renovation project was handled by Little John's Aunt! Its how she makes money on the Galvanised Square steals and Little JOhn borrows screws from her at a discount rate for the project.

Initial outside pose 🚫 Come on in wave ✅️ Closet "Pop" ✅️ Hand Wash 🚫 Chop Chop ✅️ Burner Count ✅️ Invisible cooking ✅️ Hang Clothes ✅️ Mirror Salute ✅️ Bathtub sit/thumbs up (wave) ✅️ Floating bathroom wave ✅️ ~✨️Excelente✨️~ 🚫 Judges score: 9/10. We were so close on hand wash coming back! 😭 BUT! That balcony... it's meant to be... this is where my grill and I will settle down and grow old together. I also like the "entertainment center" in the bedroom -- but I wonder if it'll fit my 64" OLED TV? The "closet" / storage would be more useful to me as a home office. Honestly if this unit has a parking space for my truck it would be nearly perfect.
@steadholderharrington903521 күн бұрын
I don't want you to get your hopes up, but it actually does look like there IS parking for your truck there too, but you'll have to settle for one of those underground, stacking elevator parking spot machines, where you can get up to five cars into the same overall space, but stacked on an elevating rack that, once you've parked and secured your vehicle, it disappears down the elevator shaft, unless you happen to own the top rack spot that is!

@steadholderharrington9035 I don’t think judge is serious about buying a house that’s 700k. A lot of folks look at the videos for fun and he’s doing this for fun, although my friend does look at the videos because they want to move there.
@steadholderharrington903521 күн бұрын
@@ShinmegamiPersona Yes, well, I actually realized that, and unless he owns a kei-truck, I kinda doubted he was serious anyway, cause those auto-stacking parking machines in Japan really only work on smaller Japanese vehicles anyway, so something like an F-150 would already be oversized for the lift as is.
@TheAntinowherelane17 күн бұрын
@@steadholderharrington9035 Yeah my F150 is just a little over 20 feet long, so definitely not going to fit. Plus the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the truck, and the truck is on the wrong side of the Pacific lol. But a man can dream! (Honestly I would just buy a smaller pickup if I actually did move to Japan. I do love Kei trucks.)

The outside bathroom reminds me of my great-grandmother's house (in rural Italy). Hers was outside, in a room built on the far side of a narrow balcony, because nobody had bathrooms inside the house in my hometown before the 60s. It was added after construction and had very minimal plumbing (you had to flush manually using a bucket of water). Man, I miss her. She was an extraordinary woman.

Pretty nice place all round. A few too many stairs for my liking, but whatev's! All of the windows have built-in double curtain rods in them so you can have both light blocking curtains and sheers over your windows (yes, even in the washroom around that open stage of a bathtub)! That storage room on the third floor could easily serve as a 2nd bedroom for a child or two if they're both the same gender, and the fourth floor patio deck is spacious enough to allow for many different configurations of furniture/oasis' and BBQ set-ups as you can imagine Hint, hint Antinowherelane-san). Another thing that a lot of people are missing out on noticing is that this unit has a central HVAC for heating and cooling; no separate little Air-cons for each and every room, so thats certainly a big plus too!
@steadholderharrington903521 күн бұрын
Also, if you have a child, this is a great neighbourhood as you have at least one Nursery school, 2 JHS and 2 HS within a few blocks of where you live, as-well-as a university just a few blocks away, and a 2nd university just 2 train-stops away from there. You're a quarter of a block away from 2 Shinto shrines with a Torii gate, and 1 block away from a small police box. (no, not the TARDIS). There's even what looks like 1 or 2 public farming gardens 1 or 2 blocks away as well if you like to grow some of your own food!

@steadholderharrington9035 Generally , do Japanese houses have heating?
@steadholderharrington903521 күн бұрын
@@xrayperforator Ehhh, that's a rough question to answer tbh! Do they have central heating or HVAC like it is known in the more northern parts of North America? Or do they have heating like is found in most parts of Europe? I'd have to say no for most homes in Japan. But they do have heating, don't be mistaken about that. The problem lies in what form that heating takes place in. Some homes depend on Air-cons that only heat or cool a room that you are currently occupying, but is turned off when you leave. Other homes rely upon an electric heater underneath special tables that the family then throws a futon on top of to keep the heat contained in one spot. Still other homes use portable kerosene heaters and emit unpleasant fumes into the household, so badly that you are forced to throw the windows open to vent the fumes out, but also release all the heat you built up too into the great outdoors. Some homes in more rural area's will have a small indoor fire pit that will help to heat the home up with, though its usually only near and around said pit that it gets warm, some homes will actually have underfloor heating to heat the home with. A very limited number have been swayed heavily by western influences and have actually put out the money for the renovations to include a furnace inside the home to provide forced air HVAC to their homes. Its a real mixed bag!

Not sure what the benefits of the floating bathroom are. The floor is going to be extra cold and with so many exterior walls, you might have issues with mold given how humid the wet area usually is.
