I just want to thank you two for your wonderful Come Follow Me lessons. As we have studied the scriptures together these past four years, you both have truly helped me to come to love and appreciate the scriptures, and also to come to know our Savior better. Pearl S. Buck and others created "Welcome House", a home for orphans. One of those orphans converted to the LDS faith. I home taught him and his wife. This cow Christmas story is based on a true story from his life. He has since passed away but his wife still lives in Southern Utah. Anyway, he said the story as told by Buck is not 100% accurate but its essentials are there. Incidentally, he gave Buck a Book of Mormon with his testimony in it. After her death, he went to the home which is now a museum and the attendant there knew that this man was one of the orphans who came to Welcome House and so let him into her private study. He saw the Book of Mormon he gave her was still there on her bookshelf. He did not know if she ever read it.

I heard this way back in the 1900s at a Know Your Religion fireside, I think. (Anyone else remember those?) “Do something nice for someone else and don’t get caught. If you get caught it doesn’t count and you have to start over again.
