I have the old Academy tooling which seems much better than this, especially re the cost. Got me thinking of a Tamiya 1/48 F22 now!! A man can dream

Try the Hasegawa 1/48. It looks like this kit tried to be a clone, but failed dramatically. Tamiya... Probably not going to happen.

Hi Brett. I don,t modern aircraft so my opinion might not hold much value. I see these modern aircraft as a canvass for people who are good with an airbrush. The level of quality is where I would question the price. I don,t know what the exchange rate is at the moment here in the UK but I think that it would be over 50 Pounds and for me thats a bit to much. You do get all of those extra weapons but that doesn't justify the cost. As we know you could probably get it cheaper in a deal at a model show and I think that if I were to buy one this would be the way to go. It is 1/48th scale so it is a large kit but its a bit niche. For me the answer would be no thanks but i,m sure it will appeal to someone. Good review.

I watched RWHobbies review & build series of this kit not too long ago and decided to pick it up. I still haven't started it but I'm hopeful I can make it into something I'm proud of. Just need to find a way to replicate the metallic coating those Raptors are famous for!

I'd say it's a reboxing of the Trumpeter model. My Dad just got me the I Love Kit 1/350 U.S.S. Yorktown and it, without a doubt, is the Trumpeter model.

That was a very good kit I build it for a friend, and it was way better than a tamiya, and the F-22 doesn't carry sparrows.

Thats hobbyboss/trumpeter for sure. The weapons sprues are taken directly from the hobbyboss Super hornet.

Interesting, that makes sense given the available weapons on the sprues.

@@HammerheadModelMaking from what I understand the Hasegawa is a better overall kit but the RAM detail is overdone and is a distraction.

Hi Brett, I have to agree with your opinion and some of the comments, this really is not an £80 or $100 kit. Those air intakes are just unforgivable. OK, easy enough to fettle but you shouldn't have to on a kit which considers itself worthy of a premium price tag. I'm sure it will turn out nicely once it's been "Brett'ed" but it will require more work than it should. Regards I...

Well, I wont be building this one anytime soon, the kit was just on loan for the review. And at this point I'm not sure I'd even want to, don't get me wrong, I'm sure it could be built up nicely, but for that money I'd rather get the Tamiya F-35.

well, at least you saved me $140+au, so thanks for that :) That's the down side to Trumpeter kits showing it's ugly head right there. Poor detail in the places that matter seems to be their signature these days. I'm still waiting for a 1/32 kit of an F-22 to turn up. I just don't know why the kit manufacturers haven't produced one in the whole lifespan of the actual aircraft.

Valiant attempt on detail, however the airframe looks more like Jules Verne's Nautilus . If the pilot looks like Kirk Douglas you're in trouble. Did ya have to give the kit back for an honest review? This is the problem with the new generation of model manufacturers - PRICE, every company thinks you'll pay a hundred bucks or more for a kit no matter what it is. Thank goodness there are experienced modelers like you who give honest box reviews. It saves us all a lot of money.

The kit was on loan from my local hobby shop, I was returning it regardless of the review I gave it, but I feel it best to be straight forward when doing reviews. I'm generally pretty forgiving when it comes to my personal preferences with models, but this was about the worst one I've reviewed so far, mainly just because of the price. If it was half the price, I probably would have been a little more favorable in my review.

There is a huge hole in the market for a 1/32 F-22. The 1/48 are disappointing and not worth messing with. I have this kit in my stash, but it will stay there, I don't have any interest in building this one. It's just too uninspiring. I might actually put it up on ebay.

It looks like a f-22 and f-35 that got mixed up.a lot of surface details that should not be there.also all the hard points which is not on a f-22....to me a waste of money.tamiya makes a better kit for the money...

To be fair, the F-22 does have an external hard point on the wings, just one if I recall, usually used for drop tanks.
