I help a poor kid in the Vietnamese countryside.
I saw this 10 yo school kid looking after Vietnamese cattle in the middle of some vast expanses of Vietnamese rice fields near Hue city in central Vietnam. He was only a primary school student but in rural Vietnam even the younger kids have to pull their weight financially. Parents in the countryside mainly get by with field work and barely make enough to make ends meet at best. So the kids end up having to chip in where they can. This can involve housework or cow herding or looking after younger siblings.
This boy was actually only nine years old because in Vietnam they count a child's age as one as soon as they are born instead of zero.
